Thank you for your reaction. With all due respect to Stevie Wonder and Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway was the greatest soul singer that ever lived! Please do yourself a favor and check out his song “Giving Up”. It is some of the deepest blues/soul music you’ll ever hear. RIP Donny

Hi Paulie. V here. I lived in an adjacent neighborhood to where Donny grew up and lived in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a couple of decades older than me, but he went to school with a former music instructor of mine. He was certainly one of the greatest singers in his day, but also the world, even til this day. If you continue through his body of work you will find out more and more. My recommendation is Someday We'll All Be Free.
❤️Thank you so much for another great reaction. I’m glad you enjoyed this song! Donny Hathaway is arguably one of the greatest male vocalist of all time. He paved the way for so many artists after him. To your question, Hathaway was the one on the keyboard. He also wrote and produced some of his songs as well.
As far as Donny's death goes, the suicide has always been questionable amongst those who knew him and were around during that time. Even those who were at the hotel where he supposedly 'jumped' brought up conversation of suspicion of others who were present and reported noticeable sounds coming from his hotel room. He was indeed going through challenges in his life and career at that time. But even his recording partner, the great Roberta Flack, had great doubts about the suicide claim and suspected that foul play was involved. The music industry is brutal when it comes to musicians being more of a financial burden and not generating the profits to cover those costs. SEVERAL who were at the hotel at the time came forth and suspected foul play. But nothing ever became of it.
Donny poured his heart and talent on every note
I've always said, Donny sounds like an Angel that sings for Gods true pleasure. By the way that is Donny on piano, he was an amazing pianist also.
