- Webisode #5 of an interview at the Richard-Strauss-Festival Garmisch-Partenkirchen 2017.
Marking the 80th birthday of Gundula Janowitz, Deutsche Grammophon’s “The Gundula Janowitz Edition”, a 14 CD box set celebrates her clear and honest soprano voice through a selection of her opera, oratorio and Lieder recordings. The favourite lyric soprano of Herbert von Karajan, Janowitz set the standard for sopranos with her legendary recordings of Mozart and R. Strauss which are still unsurpassed.

Gibt es was schöneres auf der Welt als die Stimme von Gundula Janowitz?!?!?!
Diese Meinung teile 200 %-ig. So müssen die Engel singen.
ESTA MUJER ES MARAVILLOSA, CHAPEAU!!!!
(1) Why do they still call it Garmisch-Partenkirchen? That name was coined by the Nazis.
(2) I think Janowitz was too kind to Arabella.
What bothers me the most is Arabella's desire to seek a partner to whom she can be subservient -- a "master" to whom she will be "as obedient as a child". No doubt Hofmannsthal would have made changes had he lived to finish the libretto.
Women like birds, eh papageno?
