Please keep going with the quality-over-quantity modus operandi; the mixture of technique, history/education, and actual examples is always super refreshing.
These videos remind me of watching the new yankee workshop with my dad when i was a kiddo. damned lovely work, man, really inspiring me to get back into woodworking.
I've never done carpentry, most likely will never do carpentry, never thought I was even interested in it, but I'll be darned if this wonderful gentleman didn't pull me right in! What a delight to learn from him!
How did I only discover this channel and all of your excellent content this week? I’ve been binging videos and filling up notebooks with ideas, tips, and projects! Thank you for all your knowledge, passion, and dedication!
Thanks Nick. This Aussie appreciates your good humour, sage advice and quality videos.. We have been on the road the past month so I really need to get my computer out to see what stuff in your store I haven’t yet bought. Thanks again mate.
You are quickly becoming one of my favorite channels to watch for actual learning opportunities. So many other successful channels out there are nothing but entertaining fluff. You offer so much more! Thank you!
Nick Engler, thank you for providing the world such incredible information. I could watch you clip your nails and learn something. Again, thanks for the videos, they’re appreciated!!
hands down the best woodworking teacher on youtube along with mr.paul sellers! what i love the most from both is that you and mr.sellers teach with tools that anyone could afford and with so much detail. the knowledge you guys teach is like textbook standard stuff 😃😃
As a Arts and Crafts furniture making enthusiast, I loved your video on this topic. Excellent information. I am glad you included that this style can be used on woods other than Oak. I plan on visiting your site and buying some resource material.
Thank you for providing the awesome content!! I still enjoy your Shopsmith videos from back in the day. They helped me understand the equipment I inherited from my grandfather. Love your teaching style, and I look forward to more videos. 😁
Thank you for mentioning the free book with specific gravity included. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was looking for this information online to find different woods for top water fishing lures. I just downloaded the book. Thanks again!
I've been a subscriber for a while. Commented on a few videos and only now did I realize that it was Nick, through his books, that has refined my woodworking style. I guess I'm a bit slow but I was looking at my bookshelf in the shop, saw your name and FINALLY put 2 and 4 together... (see what I did there?) Anyway, thank you for helping me with my tough and easy projects with your tips and tricks in all the books I have. You've had an indirect hand in a ton of kitchen remodels and even hope chests for my daughters. Thanks again Nick!
I'm not into woodwork so I have no idea why this was recommended to me, I'm happy about it though. 😁 You clearly have a wealth of knowledge and experience in your craft so even us folk who have no intention of building anything can enjoy learning from you. Might surprise my dad and brothers next time I visit them. I'll start talking about driving pegs into mortises and tenons, they won't believe their ears! 😂 Thank you so much for sharing, every day is a school day. All the best from Scotland ❤
2:19 We installed prefinished hickory floors because we had three dogs. It was a bear to install because it’s so hard, but it isn’t significantly scratched.
One of my favorites too. We have a huge sawmill nearby that produces quartersawn oak exclusively, so will have a good supply of highly figured red and white oak for Craftsman projects.
Hey Nick, I've been racking my brain trying to figure out which book of yours I remember seeing that had something similar to this and I finally figured out which one it was and bought it a few days ago. It was the book on joinery lol
@@WorkshopCompanion sadly true. Especially actual paper books. One of my favorite authors John Sanford puts out some amazing cop mystery books if you enjoy that type of thing. Nothing better than having something that electricity isn't needed to power
To square the corner I have used an old worn out auger bit, cut off the spiral part and take a file and dress the tang of auger bit. Drive the dive the tang i until required size is reached. Better to find the largest old but you can find.
Thanks Nick (and Travis). Enjoyable as always. Love the craftsman style and have always wondered how to achieve the square pegged joinery. I love your dog too!
My girlfriend's great uncle was a carpentery teacher. He passed away recently so we never got to make anything together. He would have loved this channel
Saw a video sometime ago where they xrayed original Greene & Greene furniture and there were screws below the square "pegs" which were actually just covers. Don't remember if that was consistent or if only some square pegs had screws under there and others didn't? Anyway, something to think about.
Really beautiful work, Nick! 😃 Thanks a LOT for the lesson!!! BTW, there should be something similar to a pencil sharpener to help with it! I may try to make something like that... 🤔 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
One trick I've always used to sand dowels down is to stick 'em in my drill and hold onto them with a piece of sandpaper. But I think that'd only work once you've knocked the corners off... let us know how your invention comes along!
this man is the bob ross of woodworking and must be protected at all costs.
Please keep going with the quality-over-quantity modus operandi; the mixture of technique, history/education, and actual examples is always super refreshing.
That's the plan.
@@WorkshopCompanion Wonderful !
Amen to that!
Bella was great in this video. Nick was good too.
I try. I just don't have enough fur.
@@WorkshopCompanion nobody's perfect
Nick is easily the best teacher I've ever had, and I've never met him. What an amazing time we live in
Absolutely. And thanks for the kind words.

Terrific content as usual Nick! And Bella rounds out the presentation as only a good dog can! 👍👍🐶🐶
I'll let her know.

Thanks for teaching me about jointery and pegging. This video was very informative
Most welcome.
"...... act of congress.." great vid.
Thanks.
I had to pause and make sure I heard that right lmao
Favorite teacher on carpentry and craftsmanship... love how you are not trying to be flashy or fashionable but just are... tip of the cap mate 👍 🎩
I love this guy, he makes a nonconstruction inclined guy learn
Sometimes it's just fun to know stuff.
Best shop assistant ever!
Agreed.
I love this guy. It is a rare channel where they don't try to sell you expensive tools which you don't need. Feels like a father figure to me
I can't quite pinpoint why I'm watching this, but this gentleman is beyond amazing. Remarkable job!
Thanks for saying.
It's like the Good Eats of woodworking.
Brilliant, just brilliant. Give my love to Bella 🌞
Will do.
Simply best quality staff! REgards from the beginner in woodworking
clear, concise, and direct communication of the relevant info, both verbally and visually. it doesn't get better than this, folks.

I love this channel. Nick is the best! And so is his dog.
Bella say thanks.
I have a passion for woodworking but dogs are invaluable companions. Bella is a beautiful dog.
I think so.
Awesome video!!! Thank you!

A very good presentation. I’d wondered how the square peg idea works. 👍

I wish I didn't have to work for a living anymore and just dedicate the rest of my working days to fine carpentry work like this.
Another outstanding video. You'd have to pay a pretty penny for knowledge like this.

The book case and all the other examples you showed are beautiful.
