- The Enchanting Chandra Pushkarani and the Sacred புண்ண மரம் (Punna maram)of Srirangam
The Chandra Pushkarani in Srirangam, a naturally formed lake, stands as a testament to nature's unparalleled beauty. Revered by devotees and visitors alike, its splendor is truly indescribable. Nestled within the expansive and historically rich Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple complex, the Chandra Pushkarani's serene waters reflect the spiritual grandeur of this sacred site.
A Divine Play Under the Punna maram
Adjacent to the Chandra Pushkarani lies the புண்ண மரம், the sthala vruksham of Srirangam, which holds a deeply cherished story. During the stillness of the night, when the town of Srirangam is cloaked in slumber, Perumal and Thayaar descend to the earthly realm to play under this venerable tree. One night, as the divine couple enjoyed their time together, Thayaar expressed a desire to adorn herself with the blossoms of the punna maram. However, due to her stature, she could not reach the flowers. In a gesture of love and devotion, Perumal gently lowered the branches, allowing Thayaar to pluck the blossoms and adorn herself. This tender moment has rendered the punna maram profoundly sacred, symbolizing the divine love and care shared between Perumal and Thayaar.
A Sanctified Space for Thiruvaimozhi Kalakshepams
The sacredness of the Chandra Pushkarani and the punna maram extends beyond their natural and mythological beauty. This serene locale has also been a site for spiritual discourse and learning. Under the shade of the Punna maram and beside the tranquil waters of the Chandra Pushkarani, Our poorvacharyas have conducted Thiruvaimozhi kalakshepams. These are in-depth discussions and teachings on the Nammazhwar's Thiruvaimozhi. The spiritual aura of these gatherings is commemorated by the embedded statues of the Srivaishnava poorvacharyas around the area, serving as eternal witnesses to the fragrance of Thiruvaimozhi that permeates the space, much more than the flowers of the punna maram itself.

The Punnaga flowers, always sung by celestial beings, We bow to the divine fragrance that emanates from them eternally."This verse beautifully captures the sacredness and divine interactions associated with the Punnaga tree (புண்ண மரம்) and its blossoms, highlighting their spiritual significance in the Srirangam temple.
