I grew up in Cincinnati.. When I was a younger and before Union Terminal was the museum.. Original Natural History museum was in a stone castle with a real cave and tunnel system.. Pretty sure it got moved because it held clues to ACTUAL history
You are right. From what I gathered, the original building was on Gilbert Ave in Eden Park. It was built in 1957. Large wooly mammoth statues were out front. The cave and glass bridge were added inside in 1967. The museum moved to the current location at Union Terminal in 1990. The original building that was on Gilbert Ave was demolished in 2004, making way for a WCPO Channel 9 News studio. The wooly mammoths were relocated in front of a building associated with the museum on the corner of West 5th St and Gest St.
