Would love to see how you back and quilt your foundation piecing. I have not had an opportunity to really search your channel yet and you may already have a video out there. I am going to try a quilt as you go with the backing as a border too, on the one I am working on. So it would be great to see what you do, too. Thank you for the share. Your quilt is a phenomenon! Absolutely one of the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen.

@@lindadechow3703 I don’t know if I have a video that specifically shows the backing of my FPP…hmm…I’ll keep it in mind for future videos. One of my fleece back quilts used the backing as the border. That video is here: Using Fleece for Quilt Backing - My first 3 Linus Quilts! ua-cam.com/video/G7TBXpzByKg/v-deo.html

I think I would be happy to look at any of your projects. For me I love looking at unusual ways to do something And any large quilt making strategies. Baby quilts are so fun and sort of fast whereas these large quilts are a long term commitment and challenge. Your video here has helped me get unstuck. King sized quilts are really hard on so many levels. From foundation fabric, backing, piecing, patterning, assembling and keeping the (_@$$ thing square on all sides and straight and unpuckered when you start quilting the darn monster. An aging arthritic body and failing vision make for a slow going process.

It’s so refreshing to see something that is excellent but not perfect, all those perfect quilts are very intimidating. This video made me think “oh, I can make one too”, rather than the usual “I don’t think I can do that”.
The quilt is quite lovely. The back is not perfect but it’s acceptable.
    Thank you for the video.

Thanks! That is the whole point of the channel but not everyone understands it 😂! I only started quilting during lockdown and I found too many videos felt a bit intimidating so I wanted to put a ‘confident beginner’ voice out there which is what I am and what I probably always will be. My stuff will never be perfect!

Wow amazing. What a great job. It is nice to see the procedure at the end. So often people show how to put blocks together and tell you to just keep going to what ever size you need. I have made three king size quilts and it is not as easy as they show. AND you are a busy mom. Thank you for taking the time to share.

I’m definitely going to give this a try on my next one, I have been watching videos for QAYG forever and have never seen anyone join like this before. It looks a lot better and doesn’t look as confusing with a bunch of different steps. As far as the colors go I think that’s what makes quilts special and unique ❤️

I’ve been doing large quilts like yours on my home machine, and it is definitely difficult. I prefer not to have sashing joints, so I do like you and find different ways to use straight line stitching. Depending on the quilt top design, I have done stitch in the ditch, diamond pattern from corner to corner, or I also like to do fancier quilting by using templates to quilt each block. Once done, I sew the blocks together, and then add backing by doing simple stitch in the ditch around blocks. This makes a nice grid on the back. Any way you do it, the large quilts are hard to muscle through the machine. Finished units are worth it though👍🏻🥰

Your quilt as you go process is exactly what I have been looking for. I made a quilt a few years back and forgot how I joined the quilted pieces, and what a great reminder. My quilt is a lap size so it is not nearly the huge size of a project as you have done here. Bravo to you! And Thanks!

Thank you for this. I will be using sashings to join but I was looking for instructions on how to join all the pre quilted blocks into a big quilt on a regular sewing machine. So basically the horizontal sashings would be short and joined together from top to bottom to form a long strip. Then the strips get joined together vertically with a long sashing and the completed work always to the left of the sewing machine. Makes sense.
