  • What's going on guys, Blake Hawthorn It's his turf and today we're going to be doing the 10, 15, 17-hour review... the review on the Gravely Pro-Turn ZX 52. Alright guys, so after running this thing, I think we have about 17 hours on it, I've noticed a few little things that I don't like about it. One of those things is, from a maintenance standpoint, that the shoot blocker over here has debris in it, and it wants to actually settle while you're mowing, it wants to drop about two inches, so it's about a quarter of the way shut as you're rolling. This allows for grass to build up. So when you open it up, it shoots out a bigger blob or glob, you know, a pile of grass, I guess this is what I'm talking about right now where the shoot block is sitting is actually where it wants to ride most of the time when I'm mowing. But if you watch, I can't actually raise this thing, couple more inches. And that's where you want it to be to keep from those clumps of grass happening in the lawn. And it just wants to set up and drop back into place right there every time. So I just need to get this thing cleaned out, figure out where it's at. blow it out real good. But for some reason, I think I'm gonna have to unbolt it, and take it off and see what's going on that's causing it to want to shift involved and not ride right there. So that's one thing I don't like about it. Another thing that I noticed today when I was running the machine is that when I'm running on a hill going downhill on a steep grade with my discharge to my right, so I'm going downhill discharged my right that he does not want to handle that hill and wants to actually pull to the left. And so what I had to do is actually turn around and go the opposite direction, it does fine, but it really wants to pull hard there. That was on some nice Zoysia grass today. Another thing that I found is I stopped earlier because I heard a noise I thought my belt was going to come off. And what it was is this screw it just became loose. The bolt came loose, and you could hear this vibrating in the spring was now hitting the side. So you can see it shifted this way, then you can hear it hitting the side frame. And I thought that something was out of whack and was I was afraid I was gonna be broke down. You know, those are the few things that I've really noticed is one house handling kills to the shoot blocker. And then you know, I just need to do some maintenance and go around this thing, tighten up the bolts, check everything out, check my tension or pulleys. And I think that we're good to go, I'm excited to see once we get a little more wear and tear, you know, 50 hours, you know, stuff like that on there, to see how this machine is doing. I love it, I think it's going to be a great machine for the company. And I'm probably going to be replacing our Gravely 152s with this model here.

Down here in Florida we cut Saint Augustine. All year long. The optimum mowing height for that turf 4 1/2 to 5 inches. If you’re mowing Zoysia down here in Florida. Then your mind at 1.75 inches, because you’re on the local golf course. Also, you need to be cutting with the old school reel mower. The one that has the bag out front. I did have a few yards one time that changed that grass. Wound up dropping them.

I would say around 50% of our lawns are Bermuda and 50% zoysia.

Great video man! That ocdc needs to be improved for sure. I have on on my Pro-Stance 52 and the grass builds up on that plate and makes it really hard to slide up and down. Other than that Gravely makes some awesome mowers 💪

Your concern of hill stability is something I don't miss about having a zero turn rider. Changed to the 60" toro grandstand and that issue is gone🤷. I really like your vids you don't sugar coat the issues you find. That chute block issue is kinda weird.

No problem on hill sides with the z master. It has a very low center of mass with the low engine, and fuel tank beneath the seat

Just caught this video - shopping for a 52/54 ZTR myself - non commercial - just want a heavy duty unit...Do you notice any difference between the hydros in this model (ZT3200) vs. your PT152 (ZT3400) ?? Also the ZX doesn't advertise coming with the XFactor II deck.....also wanted to get your take on this difference as well. Thanks for the review - looking forward to checking out more of your content!

😂not going to forgive your guys for the debris on the mower. yeah, i should probably sharpen blades in the morning 🤔 we'll see. my old gravely pm260z is a solid girl too, and she also wants to slide going nose down and diagonal on hills. i always keep her horizontal, unless it's really dry.

Sliding on hill sides because the center of mass is way to far in-front of the axial and the weight of the fuel tank drags the mower left
