On The Ground | Scorpion Kings: Amapiano Artists Need To Speak More
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 чер 2024
- Scorpion Kings (Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa) hardly ever do interviews. We got one of those rare opportunities to sit down with the super duo at Schweppes’ Born Social event in Cape Town.
They told us about their thoughts on the growth of Amapiano, why Piano artists don’t do interviews and their plans for 2024. “2024, siyadla!” Porry said.

Kabza is always sitting there, quietly pondering during interviews... he probably figured out like 3 new songs (in his head) during this interview! 😂😂😂
I like how slikour trying by all means to make guys comfortable to speak their language big up big dawg
I love the way they show up for each other, Phori is very protective of Kabza and they understand each other.
The world need to give these guys a Grammy.
Shoutout to Slikour for getting an interview with the gents and calling them out about not talking, maybe it’s the pressure to do all these interviews in a certain way but gents need to start documenting everything they’re doing, piano is a lifestyle and movement at the same time, there’s no fitting in, it came from the streets no big artists came with it, they are just riding the wave. All of this needs to be archived or else someone else will write the story and make themselves a hero in it.
Yea man, just look at what happened during kwaito days, not much interviews, and we don't know half of the major producers and artists in that genre
True
Imagine the Kabza and Phori reality show🔥🔥🥵💯
Yooo that would be dope dope
Kabza is here for the music. He speaks through music. He is who he is, he’s the music
Beautiful. Well said
This podcast is underrated it's one of the first podcast to ever be out there. Why don't we subscribe? Slikoour you raised us brother thank you bro
Facts
100% bro!
Slikour will talk more than the people he's interviewing 😂
ungihlekiselani mara 😂
Not like Penuel though 😂
But Kabza doesn't talk
😂😂😂😂😂@@sapanda5968
Word😂😂
I've noticed some discussions about KABZA being quiet and people wanting him to speak more. I'd like to emphasize that KABZA is a naturally reserved and quiet individual, which is simply a part of who he is. His exceptional talent in music speaks volumes, and he excels in his craft.
As time goes on, he may become more comfortable with interviews, but it's important to respect his personality. I was disappointed by the way the Slikour mocked him for being quiet😡, such behavior is disrespectful, especially on a platform viewed by millions. It's crucial to create an environment that encourages artists to express themselves authentically.
Despite the challenges, I wish KABZA continued success on his musical journey. He's undeniably the best at what he does, and I hope he receives the respect and recognition he deserves. Danko✌🏼
Slikour did nothing, he they just talking and he was talking about why artist dont talk and let themselves know
Slikour is so amazing at creating a beautiful synergy with his guests. It’s so evident he loves what he is doing.. and he even got Kabza chatting which is pure gold🙌🏾
Kabza vele ukhuluma kakhulu fyi.
S/O to Slikour for this interview, We need more of these especially from the likes of Kabza, Momo, Mdu etc
Let's take it to a million views 🔥🇿🇦 Kings of Amapiano
Kabza speaks alot when hes with his people you can see in other videos
As non South Africans, we have zero issues with subtitles. If anything, y’all refuse to sue them so we can follow along.
Slikour’s on point that Piano’s story needs to be told by the right voices. I didn’t know that Kwaito person ever existed until just now and that’s a sad state for the core contributors of great art. A challenge to Slikour to memorialize it as a well produced YT series maybe?
Kabza's humility is admirable. 👍
Yeah Slika is telling the truth, KABZA MUST TALK, Documentary nyana or big interview nyana or even reality show, so that they can be remembered even in the other generations to come
True

Danko Slikouronlife 🇿🇦
We are learning from you big dawg on this podcast space nice interviews
Power
@@slikouronlifegreat interview and in our languages. Wherever they go they must be able to speak in a lingo they are comfortable with. Russians speak Russian and get translated if there is a need, so the French, the English likewise, no language is better than another in this world! And reality show would be dope.
Izinja madoda! The best in the game 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best shortest interview 😂🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯👏🏿
Ay man this interview made me miss those Balcony Interviews.
Those were legendary Slik used to gve game
Kabza is the face of piano he knows the history we cannot have an uncle waffles moment who eats from piano but doesn’t know what barcadi is.

@@makwanyaneleopa8361 😂😂😂
Nnneeehhh 😂😂😂
Kabza really needs to tell his story.
4 real
SLIKOUR IS A REAL ONE.
THESE BROS GOTTA DO A YOUNG DOCUMENTARY
I need a kabza and Tems collaboration
Reality show I'll definitely watch, If I can watch a 1hour studio session I can do with a rrality show
Slikour got some points frfr
Slikour is Right they need to speak and document their stories
maybe u must do studio session
show with amapiono artist n producers
Slikour is right because outsiders are now trying to take ownership of this sound, these guys need to be much more vocal about this sound that they created. I’m Zimbabwean and i heard this sound when it was still underground in South Africa, i hate the fact that other people that are not South African are trying to claim this sound as theirs, some of us that heard this sound from the beginning know that it’s South African. These guys need to do more interviews and own the narrative.
Slikour is right Kabza is the king! all he has to do is document the journey everyone else will translate it for the people FACTS
Porry mentioned young stunna 4 times❤
The biggest Kingz after Kwaito, much love to DJ Maphorisa & Kabza De Small.
Kwaito,???are you kidding
02:16 Facts
1 interview after every 3 years 😂 Dankie maGrootman! ❤
Lol
Slik x Madumane 🎶🎶😭 would be a banger
that's interesting 😂😂😂
Slikour fighting for those on the balcony interviews😂😂
lol
Kabza must talk!! Even if he doesn't talk in English it's fine he must do interviews 😢😢
Kabza would make a great dope dealer - he doesn't say anything. Even wiretaps would miss Kabza's voice 😅
THIS IS NOT THE LAST!!!!
Isizulu esila 😂😂❤
Slikour speaking facts though. Mujava came and went, he went international but we still don't know his story, we just hear stories that sound like urban legend.. Let's be honest your music can be a good proof of legacy but your life stories will cement it.
Are they still together 😮
Kabza looks nervous man 😂😂👊🏾
🇳🇦🤚🏿
Kabza unamahloni kanje yooo
S/O to Slikour but i think there's something short there , kind like alcohol nyana , i think that's where we will see the real kabza and his goals . . ..📌😏. Anyway shutout ...
Ey thanks again grootman Slikour for getting the Scorpion Kings for us. Just a few pointers, kabza went to private schools so he is definitely fluent in English, no need for subtitles. Lastly I don't think piano cats have a problem with telling their stories but rather I feel the problem is the manner in which interviewers approach them. For example some of the questions grootman Slikour asked the gents have already answered on a few of the interviews they already which are available on UA-cam. Kabza has said it before that he was born in Mabopane, moved to stinkwater which is near Soshanguwe where Phori is from, moved to Lombardi East which is a suburb near Alex but it is not Alex. The questions you asked grootman where poor, you asked maphorisa how he feels about the movement, of course he feels great about it. The way in which grootman kept asking about doing a reality show and the assuming that kabza cannot speak English, could have put the guys off.
First of all the guys have gigs lined up for days and the idea of an interview or doing a reality show seems like something they won't be benefit from but instead it's going to grow platforms of people who are not interested in who they are as people but rather chasing numbers, I mean really interviewers have to up their game. All love though grootman, greatly appreciate this
But.I never asked about where they come from nor did i ask about how he feels, do you even know there's a no interview rule with Kabza? There are global stars who understand the value of interviews in documenting culture, I think you speaking from a point of assumption with no context of the importance of these stories being told by the artists.
Whether Kabza went to private schools to learn English is irrelevant. Our languages are as important as
English to English speakers, Chinese to Chinese, French to French speakers. That's why there is something known as translation and translators.
