I'm so glad these performances are on UA-cam. Neil Diamond is good for my recovery from alcoholism. I thought he was good when i listened to him in my youth. Now at 73 i find him GREAT and SOULFUL Beautiful Noise, Sweet Caroline, Brother Love, I am Said I, Forever in BluevJeans. These songs are magnificent!

Neil Diamond. Pours his heart and soul into every performance. I saw him just a couple of years later (1991) in Hampton, Virginia, in a different setting being in
" The Round" revolving with band and pit orchestra ensemble. One thing is very prevalent in this show is how many times he makes his way around to sing to those audience members behind the stage. Very Classy. An interesting choice of his body of work. One I always loved is "If you know what I mean" as all the hits were done so well. Only one we didn't hear that I saw was "Play Me". But so many others that could have gone on for another hour. Diamond shows that he is the consummate entertainer. The entire package. Amazing band, sound production, lighting, body of work and most especially...he holds the audience in his hand from the moment he walks on stage. I thoroughly enjoyed my concert on my birthday treating my family. A night we will never forget.

Elvis was good, but in my book he will never touch Neil Diamond Plus, we can never forget that fantastic back-up band. I believe they are the best of all time. There is only a handful of the 1989
band on the current tour. Reinie and Linda Press, Alan Lindgren, Doug Rhone and Hadley Hockensmith are all retired. Vince Charles passed away a few years ago. On the plus side, King Errison, Tom Hensley and Ron Tutt are still there and vintage Diamond guitarist Richard Bennett has rejoined the line-up.

I have been a fan of Neil since 1966 and have had the pleasure of 39 of his concerts- including the 40th Hot August Night in 2012 & my last one in San Diego in 2017 and I’m from Pennsylvania! I miss him very much! This Toronto one in 1989 is helping me remember the Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and D.C. ones I saw that year! Thank you for putting it out😍

Sadly, I only got to see one of his concerts back in the 1980's (Tampa, Fl), but I have NEVER been to a better concert. He was the best entertainer/performer I have EVER seen in concert, and he gave it his all - from start to finish. A true professional.... Love Neil Diamond.
I have been to nine of Neil's concerts in.St. Louis but decided not to go to hos 50 year celebration concert then regretted terribly. Just after that he was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease.
The band is such a compliment to Neil's performance. Tight fit. Always helps. No one better than Neil!!

He puts on a great show. No backups at all. Hes the show. Ive seen him 6 times in concert. All in Texas. Every show sold out those were in the 70s and 80s. I saw him in San Antonio about 1995 i think. Im 64 now.

I agree that's a terrible shirt lol but Neil was a showman back in the day. He often wore shirts that were glittered or a bit eye catching. Not my style, but my love for his music far exceeds my opinion of his shirts.

Mmmm not keen on shirt he has on in this concert but on a whole like his shirts in Australia when I saw him in the mid 1990s ( can't remember year) remember he wore a black shirt with green bits I think Had his son Jesse playing in band that night seem to remember. Only have seen him once. In Melbourne

I saw this show at the NEC, Birmingham, West Midlands as part of the European leg of the tour, 11 November 1989. I promise you the sound quality was first class. My ears were ringing for hours afterwards!
I remember at the time being a little disappointed that Richard Bennett was no longer in the band. Hadley Hockensmith, however, made a very worthy successor.

I was at this concert...this was my Christmas present
This was my Christmas present too!! I saw him in Buffalo, NY the next night. I was 10 years old! I finally saw him again last year when he was back in Buffalo.
Yes, I too saw Neil Diamond at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium on February 11, 1989. My seat was in the upper corner behind stage right. When seeing him again on March 31, 2015, I had a ticket in the upper section at the other end from the stage; before, my seat was upgraded to the section across from stage right. Thanks Neil Diamond for exchanging that poor seat in 1989 for the excellent one in 2015. Very rewarding.

Hey William, I took my then 7 year old daughter to see Neil Diamond at the old Salt Palace in SLC. She spent the whole concert up on daddies shoulders bouncing to Neils music. This is the same concert, different venue of course. Thank you so much for sharing this concert. It brings back so many memories!
