AND the original version with just the TRIO was mind-blowing, too!

I used to listen to Azimuth with these guys in the early 80s such extrodinary music.

Another example of how jazz is the living art music capable of best establishing a viable post Schoenberg tonality. It speaks in our contemporary aesthetic. So cool.

I'm caught by the total abandon that Kenny throws himself into this 1st flugle solo yet it yields such a lyrical intellegent emotionally connected result.

This music is interesting because, while very soothing and accessible , it is "almost atonal." The music theory behind the composition must be very intricate. Elements of tonality are continually "peeking out", but modulation is continuous.

jwbeauch The 3 parts of advanced verticality all present and a counted for. Melodic chromaticism, modulation and, chromatically altered harmonies.

jwbeauch Well understandable interpretation however it would take at least one hard shove in the direction of higher chromatic density to get at what your talking about. This music is perfect right where it is.

Maybe you should put your pocket calculator back where it belongs, namely in your pocket and then try listening with your ears!

@@paxwallacejazz I took up the saxophone 50 years ago after hearing Charlie Parker and Stan Getz. It was as if a switch clicked over in my head going from violin to woodwind. I don't play anymore but I still get pleasure presenting a jazz program on radio here in Australia. I will get around to checking your channel in due course.
