ryu actually demonstrated a lot of skill. i think he lost mostly bc he hadn't adjusted well to be able to block and receive serve effectively. when you look at how much spin his loop has, his drop height, movement speed, he's still another level higher vs tianyu. tianyu's shots were a bit softer than he's used to imo plus one-winged penholder vs lefty shakehand is tough.
It is a well known fact that Ryu Seung Min was a world class player and won the gold medal in the Athens Olympics. In my conversation with Dimitrij Ovtcharov at dinner last night, he said that Ryu essentially is essentially retired and pursuing a path to a coaching career. Even though Ryu played in the German league last season, it is more than likely he will not return.
yes ryu was trying. li tianyu is good. 2500 is way underrated (his us open entry). usatt erased the record idky. he should be 2750-2800+ and now he's adjusted to 2872. (which i feel is now too high)
@dfunkt no way. ryu dominating in euro superleague all ~2800-2900. he didn't play well cuz his previous matchups were weak and he thought it'd be a breeze. li tianyu is reaaally good
I try to notice that ttplayer with very fast footwork had their own greatest times of career. But after that Their footwoork got slow like normal player and retired at 30-35(I think it's fast). I think about injury after using monster footwork for a long times. Like Ryu , Malin and xu xin soon. (This 's only my opinion. However I still love what they did. )
was Ryu Seung Min even trying? he may not have really cared about the outcome, while Li Tianyu probably really wanted the win. that was probably the difference.

Just a little fact, Li tianyu is now back in Beijing, and was at ATTA not jwttc. I know this as a fact because I go to ATTA.

I wish I could get the chance to play retired pro players!
youtube "Ryu Seung Min Kaii Yoshida", pure classic penholders matches
打的漂亮 中局被干扰的有点乱 但决胜局心很定 没给对手多少机会 旋转上再加强变化就更好了 加油
Beijing team..... Now in JWTTC at the bay area.
感觉柳承敏没怎么打。。
Little known fact: Ryu Seung Min was once a world class player and even won the 2004 Olympics! Who would have thought?
I was being sarcastic...
