Hello, Mr Bardwell! First of all, I would like to thank you for all the knowledge you share with. It is extremely helpful! Do not want to make you read long, so the question: You have tested TBS Mambo, how do you think, the TBS TX Long-range in pair with Mambo at max 2 watts suck the 18650s in minutes or it could be useable? Thank you in any way, you are a great UA-camr and professional!
Looks a nice radio. I loved my Tango 2 on Tracer until I tried the Jumper T-lite on expresslrs. Just fit my hands so much better. And lrs is super easy affordable 👌
I have the Mambo and absolutely love it. My old radio was a Taranis lite so it took a couple of packs to get the feel of the grumbles (I've chosen to stay with the stronger springs) but the pay off is just to good. I've now got used to the feel and the stick throw and couldn't go back to my old radio now. The one thing it has done is boost my confidence in my link and how the qwad flies. There's going to have to be something really special for me to even think about changing to another controller. Great vid btw, I'd learned I'd set up my radio right... from watching your previous vids 😉👍
I'm going to try just binding/updating out of the box without flashing freedom TX to see if it works with my tracer receiver. Maybe i'll get lucky. I'm super stoked to finally use a legit radio! Been running a flysky radio and a betafpv literadio 2 and 3 with a module forever!
There's an image online of the tracer RX pinout and the TX/RX are inverted. For some reason that's the one I always pull up when building a new quad. I check my wiring, scratch my head because everything is right then swap the wires anyways and it works. It's 988-2011 because that's 1024 bits I think. I like doing : rxrange 0 988 2011 rxrange 1 988 2011 rxrange 2 988 2011 rxrange 3 988 2011 in Betaflight vs the on the radio. Thanks for teaching me an alternative! Though I think you might technically be loosing 24 "bits" of resolution doing it this way.
16:20 it has something to do with how the integer values are encoded. You can also change the endpoints in the flight controller using the rxrange command.
I've never done that thing to get my endpoints right at 1000-2000 I figured it was close enough at a couple hundred off or whatever it is. I learned something today!
Great video Joshua, i like my ethix version, plenty of range for me nice feel in the hands. My only problem is switch placement, im a thumber and cant reach the switches with my index finger. My friend pinches and loves the radio also.
Im betting that end point issue is from the extra deflection if you push harder on the sticks during calibration. 100% would be if you pushed hard but that little bit of resistance that you didn't over come during the calibration is where you loose the 2.5% end points.
I unplugged during a flash update because it kept wanting me to link. so I unplugged and the moment I turned it back on my controller only has backlighting on the screen. Any tips how I can get my controller back up and running? It's literally a plank screen, that's it.
@Joshua Bardwell, can you make a review on using the widgets and anything fancy to display on LCD. I come from X9D with really big display where I can use iNav Telemetry script or maybe Bar/Numbers widgets (great for LR where you can monitor distance, altitude, voltage, TQty, RQty, etc). I'm still on fence.. the LCD is small and TX16S has gorgeous colour LCD (some TX16 models have touch screen but aren't activated in OpenTX yet)..
Fantastic, Joshua! Thanks a lot! 😃 It would be nice if you could buy the Mambo or the Tango 2 with either system, but well... You can't have everything. 😕 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I spent the greater part if three months trying to get ANY if my Tracer Nano RX's to bind, with no results until yesterday. i found out that if you go into the TBS agent x settings,at the 3 dots in top right corner, simply check the BETA verion box and reflash with that. all my rx's were able to bind on first try. No thanks to Mike though
Whats your isp? And have you considered teslas starlink? I've just bagged my 2mbps century link and head to the local micdonalds 150mbs baby. Haha although when the power went out I would fire up the geni and I was way over 10gbps as I had the bandwidth of the whole town! Haha.

I've got an old Immersion RC Vortex 285 that I bought but never flew. Could I use the TBS Mambo to control it with the FS-Ia6 Receiver that it has on it?
Thanks Joshua for the setup video, I'm having issues setting up Telemetry with this radio with crossfire micro TX v1, in the set up menu of Freedom TX page 10 there is no entry to discover sensors is this just a freedomTX thing? I know the receiver is sending telemetry data as it works fine in my Taranis. I've updated everything including the SD card, not sure you've come across this
I love when you say " were gonna flash the firmware" and do that gracious look up at the ceiling like this could go a number of different ways 🤣 but seriously thank you for helping me setup my new radio!!
can someone help me ? , with the same radio and rx i did not success to do the firmware update on the receiver , during the binding i didnt have the 'Update micro Rx?' window and they are just bind but it dont receive anything on betaflight.
Depends on quad setup. Let's say you use 4 AUX for throttle, yaw, pitch, roll.. you have 4 left.. One will be for arming.. then 3 left.. acro/angle in 3-switch... 2 left.. if you haven't gotten over 8, leave it 8. When you go farther.. the latency and telemetry will be great if using 8 ch. Some people are saying it's myth. Who to believe is up to you. What Joshua said, people aren't seeing any difference. I believe that too. My setup, it's difficult to stay 8 or less. I have GPS Rescue, altitude/position hold, display Crossfire LQ as RSSI in DJI FPV Custom OSD, etc.
The answer is to put the radio into bootloader mode and re-flash it. You get to bootloader mode by holding down a button and plugging in USB. But I don't remember which button it is. And bear in mind there are two bootloaders -- one for the FreedomTX operating system and one for the Crossfire module. One of them is entered by holding down the Page button. I think that's what you want.
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear (as of today) that the source code for the current releases of freedomtx for the mambo are available, meaning TBS is violating the GPL license of opentx.
I just need one last thing to work, my throttle does not work... Trying to fly in Acro mode.. if I put in Angle mode my throttle is going up automatically if I just slightly move up. How to get throttle fixed? Many thanks
The first thing to do is check in the Betaflight receiver tab and see that the throttle channel moves 1000 to 2000 when you raise and lower the throttle.
@@JoshuaBardwell Hey many thanks for quick reply. I did create a new model and did from scratch binding CrossFire TX2 on Mambo, and I don't have problem with throttle anymore.. looks like it is working now, I just need to test tomorrow in flight.
Hi, I have a problem with my mambo with my sixty9 tracer. I cant change the vtx to race and 1watt. I do can change from the radio, but when I go exit ( or back ) and then back to the oagenof vtx is again in default and my setup is not saved. Why can that happen? Thanks !
Ok so this is nothing to do with the video, but I'm wondering if I can get some help from the community on this... So a friend of mine, his drone all of of a sudden stopped arming... he is getting all lights all signals showing its armed and ready to go... but when he arms his quad it does nothing but flashes 4stars up at the bottom of his goggles screen. Any ideas what's going on, anyone? I've looked for videos on this problem but I can't find anything on it... He has replaced his receiver with a new one, still the same issue.🤔🤔 would really appreciate any advice on this as he's my flying buddie! Thanks guys! Or Mr Bardwell yourself!👊✌

@@stewpidazole OK. That could be one for some. I just have rxrange added my normal script that I do every flash. It puts modes, rxrange osd and rates with just cntrl+v and save.
Thank you TBS, byebye Frsky!
Received the Mambo yesterday- Never had all my models setup in a new radio that fast and easy!
Selling my Taranis x9D 2019 SE now. Screw you, Frsky!!! That's what you get with your stupid D8-phobia !
Jumper T-lite multiprotocol system for the small indoor stuff plus the Mambo for everything else!
The only thing to change in haptics of the Mambo were some nice TPU printed stickends.
I don’t have a Mambo. I don’t even fly FPV yet. Camera drones since January 2020. Wanna start with a low priced Kit like Cetus…
What would you recommend between 3-4 hundred bucks?
By the way: video will play until end. Liked and commented. Cheers from Germany!
A long time subscribed fan.. 🙏🏼
Get a radio and try a sim first. If you have fun with the sim consider a 3in. A decent setup for a 5in is around 600-700 nowadays
@@GTXgb-gt8lz wich radio do you recommend?
@@Al-Kwadrone I've got a qx7 that I absolutely love, but it's kind of on the way out right now. You'll have to look at some reviews but I'm pretty sure the tx16s is really popular right now
@@GTXgb-gt8lz I would love plug&play worry free charge batteries n fly…
The Cetus is...OK. I am new to FPV and started out with a TinyHawk2. When I saw the Cetus and thought it would be great with the Optical flow sensor to keep altitude and help learn to fly. It felt so nerfed compared to my TH2. I turned off the Optical flow sensor and it just feels like a toy that doesn't fly well. I got a Mobula6 and love it, that thing zips around. Just wish the battery lasted longer than 3 mins. Plus the Goggles that come with the Cetus seem to be designed for children. If you were glasses than you might not like the Goggles that come with the Cetus kit.
