Guys Taky Kimura was Bruces highest ranked Student and he receeved updates almost until the end even Taky didnt incoorparatet the later stages in his teachings. But if you want to understand Lees jeet kune do you should start with the Seattle stuff and work your way up to Chinatown with Tim or Bremers teachings and then get ted wongs knowledge because even if they keep saying bruce didnt used this stuff anymore he had it as his backup System. He was just so damn good in it that he started to train more like staying outside controling the range wich is more difficult to do as the jun fan early jeet kune do is modified wing chun training the essenz of it but you guys should think about getting all of bruces material because with his wing chun stuff he was able to get Jessie Glover, Demile and other Fighters all heavyer then him as students. And guess why ? Because he was able to beat them all controling theyr limbs and so on .... just think about it
That is true. As Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do philosophy was heavily based on Wing Chun. Bruce Lee used the high speed hand trapping techniques in Wing Chun as he found them to be the most effective way to open up targets for striknig during combat.
This video leaves me wanting to know more about Taky and Andy; there were so many great people around Bruce and those people's stories should be told!!!

it's funny that the son says taky was bruce's closest friend after i saw a documentary where richard bustillo claims that, & i always thought it was danny innosanto. who cares, they were all close to lee. thanx for sharing.
***** *FALSE* *Taky Kimura, James Lee, and Danny Inosanto were **_all_** given 3rd Rank Instructorship in the art of Jun Fan Gung Fu.* James Lee passed away _before_ Bruce Lee, in 1972 at the age of 52. Inosanto considers Taky his elder and the most senior instructor in Bruce Lee's fighting system. Inosanto honors his elder in this manner because Taky is older, and knew Bruce Lee first, while Bruce was living in Seattle. This is despite the fact that *Dan probably spent the most time with Bruce of any of the three certified instructors*, and has the greatest level of knowledge of Jeet Kune Do out of those three men. *When Taky Kimura trained with Bruce, JKD had not yet been created.* What the Seattle students learned was mostly Bruce's _modified_, more practical version of Wing Chun. I hope all this info helps all who did not know this or are having trouble understanding Jun Fan/JKD lineage. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, though I think 20+ years of studying this gives me confidence in what I have written.
super boy Yeah, Taky may very well been Bruce Lee's best man at Bruce and Linda's wedding. I actually did not know that! Nevertheless, you do have to bear in mind that Bruce met Linda and Taky in _Seattle_. He did not yet know Danny, having met Danny several years later, when Bruce's family moved to Los Angeles. Personally, I do not believe in the concept of "best friends". I think it is somewhat childish. However, that's just me and my own philosophy. lol

I cannot judge JKD but I can judge the Wing Chun skills and for me the Classical IP man method meaning keeping it to a high standard is the way to go. As it looks a bit watered down with Bruce and his students.
It’s Bruce Lee’s JKD, nothing is watered down. JKD is Bruce’s fighting concept, used for street fights. Military soldiers became Bruce Lee’s students, and world champion fighters became Bruce Lee’s student. Your view makes no sense.
@@logicallychilled6642 Yes Bruce was doing his thing but his knowledge was from others. As far as his Wing Chun practice he trained at GM IP Man school for a few years as a teenager later the senior student Wong Shun Leung was teaching him up until his death. Truth they stayed close even to the point of with his busy filming schedule he filmed WSL all day to see how he could use him in his movie. I have photos. Bruce even asked my old teacher Victor Kan to do the fighting scene in game of death then he died.
@@logicallychilled6642 He learnt from many sources but the core of what he had came from the IP Man Wing Chun system which you can call a concept martial art too. Of course he had talent to match his learning.
People don't understand yet Bruce Lee 's Jkd, it was only for him, create for his unique skills. It doesn't matter if you were a friend of him, if you don't develop skills to support jkd techniques, Jkd becomes an useless method.
Rolling on the mat : You have no inkling abt what you are talking. Firstly, JKD was not develop to suit his own skill. 2ndly of course one needs to have some skills in order to apply the philosophy of JKD. 3rdly one of Bruce Lee's students, Ted Wong had no prior knowledge of Martial Art but turned out to be a great Master. He was Bruce's only student without martial art skill and he learned JKD in his late 20s or 30s. He did an extensive research on each physical move to understand the mechanics as well as the reason behind that move. JKD is a concept of fighting skills and Bruce's philosophy is for each of his student to excel in his own way. Of course there are JKD moves that were tailored to find the shortest possible time in intercepting an attack incl attacking moves. You sound smug and your ego is just too much.
JKD is not useless, but the person wanting to practice JKD is the one who renders JKD useless, due to their lack of either understanding of JKD concept to out into action.

@@logicallychilled6642 True, but when Bruce Lee's whole image is speed and agility it's a little weird that the direct lineage of his school is being taught by an obese man. But I don't know, maybe that is the point of JKD, to adapt to the practitioner regardless of their body type

Is it true that the only person that Taky has certified as an instructor is his son Andy? If so, are the rest of his students that incompetent?
