    She’s lovely. I can just imagine the silken feel of her fur on those ears.

      Thank you, Annette! I have to say hounds make such brilliant characters to draw that they never fail to put a smile on my face!

    What a lovely well made video Emily. Your voice over is a delight to hear. There are so many other so called instruction video's on UA-cam that are not vary good, but yours are superb. And your high level of art is a joy to watch, and such lovely subjects. Thankyou, Alan in South Norfolk, UK

    Gorgeous piece. Very high level work. The details and texture work in the fur in particular stands out. I love the warmth of the browns, and the big bloodshot eyes- so much personality! Awesome stuff 👌😊 -Best of luck on your art and your channel, and much *support* from one artist to another. -Liked and subbed.

    Excellent video!Just found your channel!Are you using Pastelmat?

    • @emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820

      Thank you! Yes, I am, I'm using the pastelmat board here, in light blue. The pastelmat paper is slightly different and I use that for flowers and butterflies more often than not. The board has better tooth for adding loads of layers so it's best for pet portraits I find!

    Great video. Thank you. I was wondering if I can get the same results on a homemade pastel surface (gesso and marble dust on canvas)? As here in India pastelmat isn't easily available. And I wanna practise more on wildlife but with normal pastel papers it's difficult. I use the same set of pastel pencils on homemade sanded paper. But still the whites aren't white enough.

      Hi Nazistry, interesting question, I'm afraid I don't know though. The pastel mat is more like a short velvet than sand paper, which would certainly make a difference. I would think that a homemade surface simply won't have enough tooth without becoming too rough for this kind of work. Sorry to be of more help!

      @@emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820 that's okay. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yea the homemade one is quiet rough. But I'll have to stick to it for now, until amazon decides to restock pastelmat. Thanks❤️

      @@nazistry40 You could try something else like velour? I haven't tried it myself but it may be better than a homemade surface?

    Is there a difference between pastel pencils and color pencils?

    • @emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820
      @emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820  3 роки тому

      Hi Toby, yes there is. The pastels are much softer, being chalk based, and so they can blend but also crumble very easily. That's why you really do need a specialist paper for them. Coloured pencils are wax based, and so whilst they aren't as crumbly, you can get fine details with them more easily :)
