I loved seeing this old footage. Bournemouth's such a brilliant place; whoever designed it was a genius. I think part of the reason it's so good is that it's not tacky like a lot of seaside resorts.
I love or loved Bournemouth. Arriving as a 19 yr old in 1979 with nothing but a backpack, I stayed for 20+ years. When I visit now it is a shadow of its former self. The town centre blighted by homeless addicts and beggars. The overspill of failed recovering addicts from the multitude of profitable drug user halfway houses that were permitted to take hold in Boscombe in the early 80s.
A wonderful video of the town's early days. I was born in '45 and this is how I remember it. For golf fans, Ernest and Reg Whitcombe represented Britain in the Ryder Cup.
A beautiful natural town but sadly abused by the council as they have not tried to preserve much of the original architecture instead choosing to promote new developments of high-rise, obtrusive, ugly and unsuitable buildings.

Great images...hilarious narration, completely out-of-kilter with what we see!...dgp

Great footage of my hometown. Shame the audio is out of sync, seems to be going faster than it should be
I live here, this is so awesome
They look happy! Everyone's happy here. (Boscombe) 6:12
Fun fact I still have Bournemouth swimming baths swimming trucks!
Audio is completely out haha
Very elegant in those days
In the days when Bournemouth was in Southern Hampshire
Audio lags after about 1/3 of the film, best to mute and follow the subs
Excellent film of Bournemouth and Boscombe, but the soundtrack is out of sync with the film, by several seconds.
Why is the narrative far ahead of the video?
I live there not the beach hasn't changed much

I grew up having holidays there every year in the early 60s ,,, went there recently and all I saw was economic refugees 😢
