Here is the link to Jay Allen's excellent review... radiojayallen.com/ge-superadios-evolution-of-a-classic/
I want this radio ua-cam.com/video/u9Y_SNho3oc/v-deo.html
I’ve been collecting and restoring radios for years. The SUPERADIO in my opinion is by far one of the best values out there. It is a rock solid great performance radio. I’ve owned all three models. I think the II is the best of the three models but not by much. I listen to a model III daily, no complaints.
Cool. Thanks for the info.
[ some people are SR-3 haters, for some reason].
Thanks for watching.

I bought one of these almost 20 years ago when the Montreal Expos moved to DC and became the Washington Nationals! I wanted to be able to listen to National games from my home in New England WITHOUT having to pay Major League Baseball for some package! This radio had no problems pulling in those games and the broadcasts sounded great over that big speaker!
After, my interest in the Nationals waned, the radio got used sparingly, mostly local stuff. During the pandemic I started working from home and wanted to pull in Boston's NPR radio station about 40-50 miles from where I lived at the time. If I placed the radio near the window it could pull the station in without much issue, but if I moved it to it's usual location the reception was iffy. I solved that with a Terk FM antenna.
Today, I find I listen to broadcast radio very little but love the SOUND from this radio and thanks to Jay Allen's suggestion use it to listen music from my laptop using a C Crane FM Transmitter. The full, warm, sound is perfect for all those old crooners!
Thanks for the report and have a nice day.
Hello, Tom, as the GE SuperRadio models I, II, & III were all great DXers! I heard that the GE SuperRadio II was the best overall performer by a little margin! Thank you, Tom, as always for your interesting radio videos indeed!
One Of the very Best Radios GE Ever Made!!! The AM is the Best !!! The Sound Blows Away any other radio in the Market !! For BOX Size !!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Cool.
Thanks for watching.

That's a neat radio and sounds nice.. Thank you for sharing! Thank you to Jeff for providing you with more radios to share!
Thanks Tom. A week ago I bought one just like it. It was in bad conditions so I decided to take it apart to clean dust and paint residue… and a tragedy happened, I broke the power button. I bought a spare at the electronics store. It lost its aesthetic but it works
I bought one new in 1999. 25 to 30 dollars as I remember. Still use it. The fidelity on AM from the SR III would fool most people into thinking its on FM. Zoomer 740 AM (350 miles away) sounds great on this radio . SR IIIs aren't that hard to find, I see them at estate sales and Goodwills not typically too expensive. Most people jump at the SR I and II because they are prettier radios and have a better reputation. The later SR III models had an RCA badge and from what I heard the late models of these had QC issues. Thankfully I have an older GE badge model that works fine.
You are right. There were some quality control issues, even with some of the G.E. Badged. But the RCA was a different radio inside, and was only mediocre, and also problematic.
Thanks for watching

The Superadio lll was a total redesign. Not quite as good as the 1 or ll, is true. There were some issues with some of the S.R.lll radios, but not all. Also one complaint was the dial indicator was not always all that accurate. C.Crane sold these for a while and they offered an upgrade, and re-alignment of the indicator. (( This may have had the upgrades)).
When G.E. Was winding down production, they sold everything to RCA, who just turned it into a cheap large portable radio - no longer a “Superadio “ in actuality.
This is definitely one of the Good ones.

Thanks, Jeff.
Thanks, Tom and Jeff, for showing us another great example of a Super Radio. I have a II and a III. The Super Radio II, refurbished by the "master", NSNorfolk, is of course better, thus it gets more play; but both are great-sounding DX machines.
Nice, Shango66 on his UA-cam channel has really shown the difference between old-quality radios and the modern lousy radios on a chip you get now. That is a nice radio.
Thanks.
And thanks for watching.

Have an original Model III from around the year 2005. Still works great!
Back in college in the mid-2ks I listened to talk radio quite a lot. I tried a C Crane antenna after hearing ads on Coast to Coast AM (RIP Art). Didn't really work for me, so I did some searching and found the Superadio 3. Shocked by how good AM sounded with the wide band feature. Amazing. I ended up getting one for my parents the next Christmas. My dad still uses it almost daily. Later on I found out about the AUX in mod and briefly paired it with a Bluetooth receiver so I could play my phone through it. Until I got a proper Bluetooth speaker.
I don't listen to talk radio much now, that was replaced by podcasts, but I know if I need a radio, the ole trusty GE is there.
Awesome story. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
WOW - that radio is a great one...
I'm gonna look for one too
Can’t go wrong.
Thanks for watching

I have had this radio since the 80s and use it with an external antenna clipped to the antenna itself and it does improve the reception quite a bit....
Interesting.
Thanks for watching.

These radios were awesome. Had one in the early 90s could listen to two hours shows on KGO and even started listening to Art Bell Coast to Coast AM before it started airing locally in Los Angeles. The same model built later with the RCA badge werent very good.
Cool.
Yeah, RCA pretty much ruined it.
Thanks for watching.

Sorry......Finally, the black wire should connect to the AM screw mount and the white wire to the GND? I didn't know white was ground? I thought white was neutral. What am I missing? Thanks!
*FYI there is a guy that specifically will repair, recap, and realign GE Super Radio versions
1 and 2. He does NOT work on the 3 version. His name is Chuck Rippel*
The Super Radio is a great. I have one. I don't use it much now but it did pick up Stations thousands of miles away.
Yes these are very capable of serious long range DXing.
Thanks for watching

Fantastic video. Avid BCB DXer here. Have you ever checked out the GE P-780? That's my favorite "just AM" radio, no chord....just operated with those big DCells. I almost pulled the trigger on the SuperRadio in the late 90's, wished I would've just to see how it faired against the P-780.
Don’t know the P-780, but I do have a P-1970 Long Range AM radio from G.E. [ not working…… yet.]. But your P-780 sounds interesting.
Thanks for watching.

@@jeffking4176 I just scrolled back 6 years through your videos ....lol....looking to see if you had the P-780. ha! I just stopped at the "Modifying Realistic DX-394" because I've had one since they first came out. ha! Thanks!
I own one, a GE badged one, got it off eBay for a great price, original owner
I have the super radio 3 and it looks exactly like yours but it says RCA super radio every control is the same anyone know why both companies made them?
Thank you for the Info.
I have the 1 and 3. The 1 is better sounding but I use the 3 daily. Both are great radios. Looking for a 2 to fill my collection. It's actually called Superadio not Superradio.
Traded mine toward a Kenwood ts450 was fun good sound had the latest version rca I think it was
Thanks for watching.

I haven't been able to locate a SuperRadio III, but I did find a good deal on a SupeRadio III, so I bought it instead.
What is the difference between the SuperRadio III and the SupeRadio III?
My understand is that the later models have better sensitive.
I have one, use it every day.
Great.
Thanks for watching.

Hello. I have a two wire external AM antenna that I would like to try with the Super Radio. I should use the AM and Ground screw mounts, right? Thanks
yes
@@hamrad88 Thank you sir!

I have two of them
Both the same, or different ones❓
