When devel actually makes a video where the car reaches high speeds and is able to keep it there i will start to believe more in this car and in their company.
I can't imagine finding a transmission and differential that could be used that would be somewhat reliable. Plus, you'd need to design the tires from the ground up.
Devel would need a material science breakthrough technology, say, a transmission housing made out of pure diamond, or something equally ridiculous. From a current technology perspective, at 5000hp youre looking at mining truck, tanks, etc types. And those are meant for low rpm - high torque, not high speed.
Here’s what I think they should do: 1) design the car around the engine. (Solves the aerodynamic problems and should be able to figure out placement. If they nail those then 2) use all current transmissions until you find one that has potential. As was said in the video, it’s a figurative v8 ls just put together. (My only concern tho is the planters members that does the shifting as they do the work of getting in and out of gears). Lastly, 3) use the suspension to solve the aero dynamics too. Think of it the higher the car is and if it’s a fast moving car wants to get sucked down more to the ground. If they just had different functions maybe. That’s at least what I think. Ik I’m wrong somewhere in all of this but please tell me.
I can confirm this car has poor handling. It looks good but while running from the cops on the streets of Los Santos it tends to spin out when taking corners at anything more than 25 mph.
When I was in College a friend of mine was a student in from Dubai and he always rattled off about how no car could beat the Devel Sixteen and got VERY upset when I suggested it was a bunch of BS lol.
And look how right you are. The car only exists as 1 or 2 rolling chassis with a corvettes engine in it, and as a single engine made in the USA. Basically the car is 100% BS until they used their scam money to hire real engineers and designers to make a cool engine and exterior design and nothing else. @@Mr_OoOsH getting enough air to feed the beast and keep it cool while staying aerodynamic was one of the biggest challenge that Bugatti faced. I don't see many air intakes on that thing. I'll believe it when I see it, but it basically doesn't obey the laws of thermodynamic right now. Add to the the massive fuel need, about 7 gallons a minute which requires massive pumps and filters to keep pressurized (not to mention the size of the gas tank required to not run through it before you even get to the top speed). I know I'm just an arm chair mechanic here, but I'm definitely in the "Doubt" camp on this one.
Solution could be simple, if frustrating: limit the time spent at 5000hp to seconds or less, so that you can just sink the heat somewhere and cool it off. Then the sustained power will probably be a small fraction of that.
@@dsdy1205 I've thought about that too, like a party trick, like having NOS or something. But I doubt it would reach 350MPH if that was the case. They (devel) should just fess up already and just make a legit version. it’s a crazy badass looking exotic... When Steven Morris said he was done messing with it you knew this was gonna be a sham
Steven Morris can build a dragster engine all he likes... Thats what he does... Build dragster engines. That doesn't mean it could possibly ever go into the car. The fuel tank would be empty in 20 seconds, there is no surface area big enough to cool 5000 hp, and there are no tyres in the world that can keep 5000 hp on the road. Just to take the most obvious, immediate problems.
@@captain_context9991 steve Morris could easily have built a tuned down version of 2000 hp plus he does for customers all the time. 5000hp is unrealistic unless Devel try to go big hybrid awd which is still a lot to ask

Thanks for the article my nephew is an automotive designer that's been working on that project for the past couple of years last time I talked to him he said one they are making progress.
Funny thing for Polish fans. Here in Poland there was some similar story. Some guys said, they will build a Polish supercar named Hussarya. Big engine, so much power, mighty competitior for Porsche, Ferrari, etc. First steps were in 2008, then they built some prototypes with engines, even a racing car, which started in German second-league races and at British Festival of Speed. Check this out and see, what happened with Hussarya, because there are so much similarities with Devel.
I mean the other UAE overblown popularity car the Lykan Hypersport made it in, so its very possible... could see this as the main villain’s car in the final movie as Dom races it in a twin-Hemi engined ‘69 Charger, or some batshit crazy version of that Charger
@@tylerberg4832 lol no, but could put $20 down that Dom will have a twin-engined Changer by the next one or #11. IMO if F7 came out 2 years later, it would been the Sixteen instead of the Hypersport
The Veyron had tyres glued on to the rim and only could just handle the 250mph (1001hp) the car could hit, so even if a car or motor was designed and built to handle 350mph (5000hp) tyres are a different story.
As soon as I saw the engine is real, I immediately thought "yeah, you're gonna need a heck of a transmission to channel that kind of beast". And turns out, that is the biggest challenge, other than aerodynamics, tires, suspension, active censors, etc
A turbo 400 would not be able to be used in the application they wanted to in a car like this. Meaning you could never track it that's a quarter mile transmission which works good but it's meant for short time frame creates a lot of heat in a short amount of time. You'd never be able to take it to the track and put any power through it.
I'm curious if maybe they have dual fuel injectors on each pistons (yes all 16) and you can turn them on therefore it doesnt run at "5000" hp all the time it's more manageable but at short bursts you get the 5k hp
What. Maybe it is dual injector but why tf would you TURN ONE OFF instead of just decreasing pulsewidth, ya know, like a normal car, or maybe I don't know some kind of boost control?? Also this isn't a Diesel. You can't just "less fuel = less power". If you lean it out it will melt your Pistons lmao.
HP is directly linked to RPM, so you can't just run 5kHP whenever you want; you'd have to be at full boost, full fuel injection (full throttle) and near max RPM. Modern cars have their ECU maintain fuel and air ratios constantly at all RPMs and speeds to avoid misfires, detonation, adjust fuel economy and power, so the HP fluctuates all the time and is never at 5kHP unless they have cruise control at top speed.
Horsepower is directly linked to throttle opening even if that link is electronic and rpm is a function of the time it takes to build the boost to run the number. Most likely not a pump gas motor, probably e 85, the tune window is much larger than pump gas.
They likely do have dual injectors. If you have single injectors big enough to support that much power it can be hard to get them to go low enough to do idle and low load. Can be easier to have a smaller set of injectors that can cover all the lower load areas without boost, then the large set can come on once the boost comes up. With multiple injectors you can also run two separate fuel systems so can run pump gas when just cruising then run alcohol or methanol for power on the big system.
@@NBSV1 yep yep...worked on a pair of 572 boat motors..intercooler. psi blower. 3 sets of injectors, 2 sets in the intake and one in the hat..ones in the intake ran av gas and the set in the hat ran e85. Dyno time each motor made a little over 1500 hp at 6000 rpm and 35 lb boost. Past 35 lbs the e85 kicked in..motor blew the seals in the water pump on the dyno @2400 lb torque...fixed the water pump, took 10% overdrive out of the blower and 4* of timing and both motors still made almost 2300 hp..each @48 lb boost. Not grenade motors either..skater 34..losing a motor at speed is a bad deal...its all about the tune..boat ran 201 and was still pulling when he ran out of lake..
At top speed the Veyron tires last about 15 min, cost is around $43 thousand a set. For which as a owner you automatically have to change tires 3 times a year.
this is actually crazy. i was googling about the devel a couple of hours ago and now donut releases a video explaining about it. Literally my favorite channel on youtube.
If this actually exists, frankly it's only good for a world land speed record for a production car. If you put it on a track...well, you're going to the Shadow Realm.
The car is fake. Full stop. Might I add that the only engines that are capable of 5000 BHP are drag engines, and they have to be rebuilt after a single run, EVERY TIME?! RevMatchTV made an amazing series detailing all the lies spouted out by Devel and the people promoting the vehicle.
This car seems like the natural spiritual successor to the #1 spot on the 'cars that want to kill you' that's been held forever by the Jaguar XJ220 which previously has only had competition for the spot from the first gen Vipers.
yes, actually. assuming "you" is whomever you're trying to get it registered as street legal with. also dragsters have a runlife of about 5 seconds and functionally can't turn, there is a MASSIVE difference between an engine on wheels and an actual functioning vehicle.
Nope! That does apply to top fuel but other classes have 3000 HP plus and do not need to be rebuilt every race. They don’t really break unless something serious goes wrong.
A serious problem in such a long term design project is that technology changes so much during your development that you have to almost constantly be redesigning the car to keep up as you try to lock down the chassis etc.

6:48 And before November off this year that 60L Engine was just two Merlin’s put together it still is but only in Spirit & 1,600 Horsepower
I can't imagine finding a transmission and differential that could be used that would be somewhat reliable. Plus, you'd need to design the tires from the ground up.
i can think of such but were talking tank transmissions, so bolting it to a supercar would destroy your performance with pure weight
Devel would need a material science breakthrough technology, say, a transmission housing made out of pure diamond, or something equally ridiculous.
From a current technology perspective, at 5000hp youre looking at mining truck, tanks, etc types. And those are meant for low rpm - high torque, not high speed.
Haha..from the ground up.
Here’s what I think they should do:
1) design the car around the engine. (Solves the aerodynamic problems and should be able to figure out placement. If they nail those then
2) use all current transmissions until you find one that has potential. As was said in the video, it’s a figurative v8 ls just put together. (My only concern tho is the planters members that does the shifting as they do the work of getting in and out of gears). Lastly,
3) use the suspension to solve the aero dynamics too. Think of it the higher the car is and if it’s a fast moving car wants to get sucked down more to the ground. If they just had different functions maybe. That’s at least what I think. Ik I’m wrong somewhere in all of this but please tell me.

Wouldn’t be too bad to manage that heat when built from the ground up especially with cylinder drop technology
As soon as I saw the engine is real, I immediately thought "yeah, you're gonna need a heck of a transmission to channel that kind of beast". And turns out, that is the biggest challenge, other than aerodynamics, tires, suspension, active censors, etc
And cooling. It would need 4x the radiators in a Chriron
You could use the transmission out of a Promod drag car, something like a Reid TH400, but your gonna get three gears and no overdrive
A turbo 400 would not be able to be used in the application they wanted to in a car like this. Meaning you could never track it that's a quarter mile transmission which works good but it's meant for short time frame creates a lot of heat in a short amount of time. You'd never be able to take it to the track and put any power through it.
@@barneymiller7894there is a reason why after every pull they strip everything to check and replace parts
