Thank you Vidya for your video. I was in the same boat when you mentioned about the rejection emails that we receive next morning for almost all the jobs..n then I am depressed for a week n then scale up the search. One of my friend gave me an honest advice to just delete those emails quickly as you see a reject email..as it’s ATS system generated. I second what you said on do not devalue us in desperate situation..indeed there is light in the end of the tunnel. Thanks for sharing !
Oh my, sorry to hear that you had to go through this as well. I used to move them to a different folder but on the phone they still show in the main folder. Glad that the ordeal is over for you as well.
Great video. It feels like we are having a conversation face to face. Love your cheerful attitude. My son also graduated from high school this year. Keep your positive spirits up. Looking forward to see more of your videos.
Thanks for the inspiration as always. Last time I enquired about resuming career after 5 years of gap and your reply gave hopes. Today its been 6 months since I resumed job. Surely there is light at the end of the tunnel, if you also work for it. 😊
Thankyou soo much for explaining. I got my EAD and have been looking for a job for past few months. I can relate how hard it was to read those rejection mails. Endayalum chechide video has given me an idea. Good luck to you!
Congratulations vidya ! Well done 🥳🥳you’re doing great and thank you for sharing your experiences with us. very inspirational . Good luck with your new endeavour 😇
Nice of you to share your experiences honestly. Will be inspiring to many. Great tips too. I never faced a jobless situation, except once I walked out of a bad/brand new job. I was fortunate to find a new / better one in few months, although at lesser pay. I am happy till date. One thing I noticed is the openings are now effortlessly becoming nationwide. Few months ago, LinkedIn shows dozens of applicants in a day or two for many openings.. It came down slightly, now, to half a dozen applicants for new jobs. I imagine the unemployment situation improved.
Layoff is definitely not a pleasant experience. But being in the IT field it's something that hits us at some point. But you have shared your experience so honestly and openly. Thank you ❤️.
Hope you neck is feeling better, i have similar issues which started after i was on computer long hours for my job. Homeopathy helps me a lot . Glad you found a new job, good luck to you 🙏
Iam going through a very similar situation with my L1 visa and my husband's GC processing, the waiting time is the most worst time...this video was very much helpful for me ❤
So sorry this happened to you. It's wonderful though, that you're able to turn this around and make it into a constructive learning experience for viewers! Thank you for sharing. Happened to me twice too though in my case it was the same organization twice! Yup, they called me back 4 years later after restructuring the position (no application needed) and again 4 yrs later laid me off after more restructuring! I still have no hard feelings because it was such interesting work and I felt valued. Did you ever consider volunteer work? Instead of going back into the paid workforce, I thought long and hard about what I wasn't really able to do in my chosen career, approached an organization I had been volunteering with for decades and kickstarted a new (and very successful) project for them. Just an option for those who who are financially secure and are in a place in their lives where they want to do something really big. Thanks again, Vidya!
Thankyou so much , appreciate a lot on sharing your experience. How can I connect with you with some agile questions and scrum master details , is email a good option ?if so please let me know . By the way I am one of your follower from the very beginning. Congrats on your new job !
thanks for sharing Vidya.I did something similar I was in this really toxic job it was so stressful had no time to spent with kids I quit and thought that I could easily find another one. But what I thought would be a two month break has turned out to be more than a year and I started getting desperate.still looking.
Oh no. You made a call on getting out of the toxic job. Nothing is more important than your health and family. Praying that you find a better one soon. Good luck!
Hope you find a job soon! I was in a toxic job situation too but I had heard people say one should never leave a job without finding another one first. I was lucky in that I landed another job within 2 weeks of searching and I was out of there after another two weeks. If anyone else is in a similar situation, know that the act of looking for another job itself can give you a sense of hope and well-being, and that may help you withstand your present job for the duration of your search... depending of course on what kind of toxicity is going on. All the best to you.
It was very encouraging. Going through the same right now.. what you said was so true. Not to be desperate and have that intrinsic value that job doesn’t define me 💕
Thanks Vidya. I was looking for a job for the past one year and I should say I got only 3-4 interview calls and my gmail has been dumped with 100s of rejections.I think I should try these tips from now on and have heard these from several recruiters like candidates should tailor their resume according to the job description . I am looking for a QA job - entry level. Even though I cleared all the rounds in one company, they were not ready to give me the offer letter since my visa has expired 5 days back.
So sorry to hear that you are going through this as well. The resume tip is definitely a must as these days the first step is usually automated scanning. If the resume doesn’t pass this step the chance of an actual person looking at it is low. Good luck to you!
thanks for sharing.. if its ok to ask, how did you answer layoff related questions.. you know when we are in self doubt such questions needs to be handled in a a such a way that we dont degrade ourselves.. im clueless on that.. did they even ask?
By layoff related questions do you mean why were you laid off? If so, I would say the reason in a matter of fact way. Frankly unless it is performance related there is really nothing to be embarrassed or degrading about it. It happens all the time and interviewers and recruiters are aware of that fact. In an interview you should never show that you have self doubt about anything. Treating the layoff like a regular thing that can happen to anybody is the best way. Also there is no need to volunteer that information either. Talk about it only if you are asked about it for e.g. “why are you looking for a new job”.
Excellent Vidya, in spite of all those issues, ur smiling face , naturality in speaking, positive attitude and ur content all are very inspiring. Keep it up. Pinne Kurta nalla Bhangi tto kutti
Are you also applying to jobs either via linkedin or through the company websites? In the resume, instead of listing just ‘what you did’ make sure to show ‘how your action brought value to the company’. As in ‘Developed a new process -- which increased the efficiency by x%. ‘
Not understanding your question. What I do now is not even closely related to what I studied. 😀 I studied chemical engineering. 😀 I think what you study only matters maybe in the first few jobs. After that it is all up to you to learn new things and advance your career.
