(2022) Moving to London | MAS MH4 Flight Kuala Lumpur to London

- My wife and I are moving to London temporarily and this is the beginning of our journey, starting with our flight, Malaysia Airlines MH4 Kuala Lumpur to London Heathrow T2. The flight was on 22 January 2022 and the tickets were only booked 9 hours before the flight and we had to do loads of pre-departure preparations e.g. submitting passenger locator forms, buying travel insurance, booking Day-2 arrival anti lateral flow Covid test in the uk, print out all the confirmations and we did our pre departure PCR test as well even though at this moment the UK guidelines said it wasn't necessary, just in case so we printed it out too as we just got the test results 2 hours ago! So doing all those meant no sleep was possible because I haven't even finish packing my luggage! At the end with the help of my family, it was all possible. I love you all my family.

Hi Louis greetings from SG. Thanks for sharing. I flew To Brisbane Australia on MAS in 1997. It was a very good flight, lots of turbulence over Indonesia and expertly handled by the pilot. Now I don’t fly long haul on MAS, only to KL. All the best in London and take care.

Hi Louis, im from kuching,Sarawak..... really like your video. Im planing to visit LONDON for a holiday with my family this coming December 2022 or early January 2023. Your video was a very useful guide for me on some of the few steps taken before trip to London especially on COVID documents needed before traveling to London.
There has been some updates now ya, no covid test required anymore arriving into uk. Passenger locator form is no longer required too.

What whisky did you order? Was it included in your flight ticket or did you have to pay extra?
I totally forgotten what whisky was it. There's a list of drinks including alcohol, fruit juice, soft drinks etc which is all included in the flight, many people don't know this because they don't publicly announce that they're available. Next time you fly try to ask politely what alcohol they have in that flight 😬

Ahh be safe. Surprisingly it's still cold/chilly at night even though it should be spring so bring some thick clothing if you cannot tahan cold. And covid cases are really high so if you haven't had it before*touchwood*, must be careful of the things you touch even during shopping.
Malaysia Airlines catering is definitely tops & even have the mid flight snack. Looks like there is no cutback on the portion served compared to other airlines.

I did all the paperwork needed for a recent work trip from SG to London and then reached the immigration counter, they didn't even look at any of the stuff. Just checked my passport and said "Have a great stay love" LOL membazir masa print all the documents and get the PDFs ready.
YESSSS, mine only stamped the passport and took our thumbprint, passed the passenger locator form to them but he put it aside Hahaha, and to think i stayed up whole night makes me speechless.

In fact immigration in many countries do not bother to check the paperwork. It’s all the pre departure document drama the world over.

Great video. Are they strict wita th the 23kg checked baggage allowance. Would they allow 2-3kg over. Also are they also strict about the carry on
It depends on the counter staff that you encounter 😉 i usually met those who doesn't mind 1 or 2kg extra but i exceeded too much on this flight

So you baggage allowance was 30kg.

Nope no need departure pcr test if you're flying MAS, if other airlines you must check if they require it. And arriving into uk also dont need pcr test, (edit: now arrival in the uk covid test is not required anymore if you're fully vaccinated). Once you book your flight ticket, then fill in a passenger locator form,but you can only fill in the form within 3 days before departure. That is all. Nothing else. Hi could you share how many kgs were your checked baggage and inflight baggage allowance and the class of seat ? How was the flight experience so far? I'm flying to London for work in May. Thank you
economy class, 35kg check in baggage, not sure about cabin baggage but they're pretty relaxed about cabin bag unless you decide to bring a humongous luggage. MAS service is good, to the point that I prefer MAS's service over emirates because emirates foreign staff can be quite cocky, I use emirates as example because I used to fly emirates to UK. and I prefer MAS food over emirates .

Tak payah pcr test dah sekarang, kalau terbang MAS , saya tak tau company lain. Hanya book flight ticket, sudah ada flight ticket bolehlah book rapid test kit boleh pilih pickup dekat london heathrow. Lepas itu submit passenger locator form dekat website uk gov.uk. macam itu saja. Boleh message saya kalau nak tau lebih lanjut.

Excess baggage by 28kg haha. Paid almost rm3k. We planned to buy extra baggage but the uk company that bought our flight tickets bought the flight tickets 5 hours before we went to the airport which means the extra services on the online checkin website were unavailable anymore cause too near to departure time. Sad.

@@writingb0ard actually saya memang pakai mask dalam pesawat sampai heathrow, hanya masa makan/minum baru buka mask. bukan takut saman sebab memang tak akan saman, hanya takut covid.
