Rest in peace Drummie Zeb. I watched this legendary performance 13 days ago and never knew you were about to leave this transitory earth. May the Lord comfort your family.
I found Aswad on August 25th when I was on holiday in Spain and they played Don’t Turn Around on the radio. I thought of it as just another song but because I like UB40’s tracks and it sounded similar, I decided to find the song so I could listen to it clearly back in the room. I immediately fell in love and began listening to all of Aswad’s music. Then the shocking news came in on September 2nd about Zeb’s death, just days after I began listening to Aswad’s music. Me and my father were in disbelief.
The Greatest Reggae Band EVER ... just ask anyone who saw them in this period from 1978-1984 Rest In Power DRUMMIE ZEB . Thank you for the timeless amazing songs that changed my life for the better
Unmatched talent these guys had. Imagine playing drums while singing at the same time, thats pure talent not many have. Just like Stevie Wonder, being blind but able to play the piano while singing at the same time
R.i.power Angus sad you had to leave. 70s memories of our youth days will remain strong iin my mind and heart. Condolences to your entire family and all who knew you.👊🏿💐🌷🙏🏼❤💛💚
Truly sounds of my youth, I will never forget the greatest Asward, eeish!! Rest in peace Drummie Zeb. It never crossed my mind that you gonna cross the other side too soon Zeb. Will always be in me for as I live. Tears may dry but memories will surely live forever
I remember buying the Live and Direct LP on the day of release in a major Birmingham record shop. The record company rep just happened to be stood at the counter at the time. He smiled at me and said follow me, he took me to his car which was parked outside, opened the boot and handed me some Aswad promo material - one of the items was an Aswad cap, just like the ones the brass section are wearing in this video 👍 . R.I.P. Drummie 😔
Aswad a class band saw them 4 times Great out fit Angus Gaye brilliant on drums. They were the first group I saw play dub on stage. This track, & 3 babylonia classics 👌
Rise In Peace Bredrin Angus..gave me my first studio time..A giant inna dis ya business..a supreme drummer, great vocalist and ah good yout..maximum love and respect 😎
The humbleness shown in this interview and the message they got across was years ahead of their time. Artists today should take note rather than just chasing basic clout and reputation. RIP DRUMMIE ZEB
Thanks for posting this video of Black on Black with Aswad interview with Pauline Black 83. I saw Aswad Several Times in the Late 70S. 80S. The best times were at the Brixton Academy London 82. And the Notting Hill Carnival 83 . Nice One One love from South London.

CBS released arguably two of their biggest/best releases; "A New Chapter" & "Not Satisfied", but ONLY released in the UK. Island released "A New Chapter of Dub" internationally, gaining more success than its vocal project and its following release. CBS truly did drop the ball with Aswad, and did a pretty shifty job with Third World too, if you ask me. The HARDEST releases to find from Third World are the CBS releases. "You've Got the Power" had 2 songs written by Stevie Wonder, but somehow, was the toughest album to find in the U.S.! How can this be? Stevie was THE MAN at the time. I remember meeting Aswad fans, growing up, who LOVED "A New Chapter of Dub", but thought there was never a vocal release! They used to get categorized as a "Dub Band" because of the misunderstanding. Aswad's "New Chapter" and "Not Satisfied" didn't get released here in the US until 2002, TWENTY YEARS LATER, with bonus tracks. Of course they never republished Third World's legendary releases while on CBS (they didn't even upload them on Apple Music), but this is CBS, so at least we FINALLY got to enjoy the vocal mixes eventually. 🙄 P.S. Island Records did drop the ball on publishing Aswad releases like "Rebel Souls", but at least we knew of its existence.
I'm American born, west Indian decent, African fully. My African brethren, distress, here in this concrete jungle I say to you. You're the closet I've been to the mother Land and I say this. No one can touch that. I Know what side of the fence I stand, and that should where and what I rightfully inherited. All from the mother Land, universally. One love 💕😘 Jah rastafari. One love forever more. Jah
really sadness story it's life and death and freedom not yet, fligh high king ur message of the love and music we ll be remembered everyday rastafari ❤💛💚
It's not Our Wish one of my favourites, on the B side was Stranger & if I'm not mistaken, one of the sound guys I was with bought this on green vinyl. Rest in peace Drummie and of course the man that made Aswad sound amazing while simultaneously producing some of the most iconic dub mixes in UK reggae history..Michael Campbell🙏🏾
As soon as they got real and answer the question to watch she asks she censored and cut it off. So good that we can publish and broadcast ourselves and not depend on the system anymore. ❤
Rest in peace Drummie Zeb. I watched this legendary performance 13 days ago and never knew you were about to leave this transitory earth. May the Lord comfort your family.

Not live. That title goes to Third World. RIP Drummie Dread.
@@diaprojectdiss2142 I've seen both bands several times but Aswad tip the scales when they go Dub Wise!
Steel Pulse..?
@@salfordcityboxingacademy3754 Exactly. I've always viewed Aswad as a great studio band but Third World as the best live (and talented) band.
@@Carvalhouk I wouldn't disagree, UK-wise. But Dennis Bovell's band was wicked. Those LKJ albums.....
Real instruments, authentic talent, righteous lyrics, and pure tuneful vocals...boy, I miss those days!
