I've been driving my 2008 4Runner for 15 years now and it still is the best vehicle I've ever owned. It still rides, looks and works like new with only normal dealer servicing. Other than fluid changes and one set of tires everything else still is original. At this rate I might get another 15 years of great driving.
I actually just bought a 2003 Limited 4wd V8 model several days ago with 201K miles. I specifically looked for a V8 model as I here they are going to be obsolete soon. This is replacing a 2003 Tacoma Prerunner that I'm giving to my son for a backup vehicle. I'm happy so far and soon will be getting a lot of dirt on it!
Underappreciated? this is like the best offroadd/family car ever. The v8 with the 4x4 is truly amazing especially if you have a chance to get the vvti option. Add an exhaust, lift, and all terrain tries and this car will not feel like a soccer mom car as your taking the family around wilderness. This is one way you can still be a family man and a badass. I sold my 450+ HP mustang and bought one of these bad boys instead.
I sold my 2020 FBO Civic SI and bought an 04 v8 limited Runner with 78k miles. Love this thing, even though my 4banger civic had more HP and TQ than this thing does.
I still have my mustang but she been sitting for a few years now. I never knew much about 4Runners but I came across a 08 SR5 with low miles so I hoped on it with no knowledge. It may not have a V8 but it is cool so far
I currently have a 2009, but have also owned a 98, 02, 06, 07 and 19. My personal favorite was my 02 and 2nd would be my current 09 which is a blizzard pearl Urban Runner edition. I noticed yours is completely de-badged. Did you do that or has it been repainted?
@@FrameRot They had a well known (easy to look up) issues with rollovers that the 2nd Gen didn't have. It was identified and accounted for in improvement for the design of the 4th Gen. I know some off-roaders who enjoy rollovers but I don't.

I am with you all the way and if there was a soccer game in the woods, you would be able to make it there!

Carson, Excellent Production!! You should send that one to Toyota! You have a True Gift & Passion! 10*'s!
I LOVE my 2008 SR5. I am in the process of upgrading it to overland...has 182k miles on it and I expect to get at least 300k
It should make it to 300k without concern as long as its maintained.
Only reason 5th gens sold the most bc they've been in production the longest.
Great vid young buck. You keep it clean
Great video, nautical blue looks great. Lucky you

Is v6 better than v8?
V8 better reliability
I have 2nd and 4th Gens.
Won't touch a 3rd with a stick.
Not impressed by 5th Gen.
Won't even think about a 6th.
Would love a 1st though.
Why not 3rd?
