So they explained this last season, but it's explained better in the manga. Genya has the ability to temporarily turn into a demon and gain passive regen by consuming demons. His strength and regen get better the stronger the demon he eats. He has special digestive organs and jaw strength that allow for the transformation. In the demon slayer world, this is a rare ability you have to be born with to allow for this. While never outright said, I've always interpreted this ability as a rare genetic mutation. Demons have been around for over 1000 years, so it makes sense that the human body would try to adapt to demons.

Sanemi's training focuses mostly on endurance and stamina. In order to fight an Upper Moon you need to be willing to take a lot of punishment for hours on end. No Hashira is more qualified in doling out punishment than Sanemi.

ok so i just wanted to point out a few things: 1. since the mission against musan will likely be in the castle and there are going to be a lot of demons and demon slayers, obanai's training (serpent hashira) not only teaches them to fight in between other demon slayers but by failing that you might just have to cut through your equals to cut a demon's head 2.sanemi's training is endurance since the uppermoons take a long time to kill and dish out a lot of damage (perfect for sanemi who is in my opinion one of the most difficult people to kill in the entire show) 3.while sanemi is an asshole and his methods are clearly not a good way of doing it, he does legit care for his brother and really wants him to not be in this kind of stuff (so much he is willing to harm him instead)

I feel like Sanemi's behavior towards Genya is born from the fact that he killed their mother to save him, and he either feels guilt//shame towards Genya for killing her or a part of him hates Genya for killing her for him, but he hates himself for that too. Their relationship is so complex and I love it
Yeah, I also think that Sanemi wants Genya out of the demon slayer corps as soon as possible because they're about to go to war with the demons soon and Muzan and the Upper Moons could attack at any moment and he didn't want Genya to be a part of that and getting himself killed as he is all he has left. That and he was most likely blinded by rage and lost control when Genya told him that he eats demons and knowing their backstory and Sanemi's hatred of demons, that was bound to go wrong.
Y'all remember that Key and Peele sketch where the MMA guy cried about what he was gonna do to his opponent? That's what the Stone Hashira reminds me of.
So I believe we're going to be mostly sticking with the manga pacing/material from here on out, as there's only three episodes left and even if the last episode is double length, they're going to have to pick up the pace if they want to adapt everything. This episode itself is basically two chapters with only some expansions (namely the final Obanai v. Tanjiro fight), unlike the previous two which were just one page each. Mitsuri's training being so short is basically how Tengen's and Muichiro's would have been if the anime just stuck strictly to manga material.
Both Genya and Sanemi(Wind Hashira) have rare genetics. Genya is a rare human that is able to get demon abilities *temporarily* depending on the demon that he consumes. Sanemi on the other hand has rare Marechi blood which is a delicacy for demons as it's "very nutritious" to make them stronger quickly. It's explained back on Season 1 that eating just 1 human with Marechi blood type is equal to eating a hundred normal humans.
I've always wondered about their genetics tbh, did they get them from their parents and how come their other siblings don't have those genetics? That and the question why Sanemi is the only one with white hair in his family lol
Sanemi loves genya, and doesn’t know how to tell him to leave, he doesn’t know how to expressive himself, so he does it aggressively even if it means hurting genya, sanemi doesn’t want him to be in the demon slayer crops. He is scared of genya getting hurt or dying

Sanemi is seriously misunderstood. Being able to take hits is one thing but the tenacity he gives when beating everyone is the reality hes trying to show when fighting demons. Plus a lot of people seem to have forgotten sanemi and genyas backstory. Id be sanemi too if i heard that first, i have to train members who have little to ZERO experience in fighting formidable demons, and second if i heard my little brother who denounced me for protecting him from our DEMON mother, went and ate demons.

Given the situation Sanemi and his brother are in and knowing that Genya would always have been in danger and tried to follow in Sanemi's footsteps, especially now that they are about to go to war and that Genya might get himself killed. In his mind, he had to get Genya out of the demon slayer corps as soon as possible and an injured brother is better than a dead one. I think the second fanbook describes him and his intentions best: "[Shinazugawa] became the embodiment of “the red ogre who cried”*. He was the type of person who would do anything, even if it meant dying, being hated, or being ostracized as the bad guy in order to protect the people he cared about. He was so blunt, easily misunderstood, and was too hasty to act, that even the Flower Pillar, Kocho Kanae, was worried about him."
@Kalakeiko you're absolutely right. Sanemi is well past simply asking Genya to leave for his own safety purely because even he can see that Genya is dead set on being a demon slayer. Imagine having a sibling you love, not be able to use breathing techniques when you absolutely usually need to, to kill demons, say he wants to fight in a war with demons? Sorry to my little brother but I'd be trying to make it hard for him to be a demon slayer if that means keeping him safe and alive.
11:52 As per Uzui from ep 1, Sameni had called his training “infinite slashes” and am guessing the point is to essentially speed up your sword swings thus why he’s reverse jumping all of them Though tbh it was more for him to get the markings than the students to learn sth as the only break they get is if they are unconscious.
I get that people want to defend Shinazugawa for this act because in the end, he wants to protect Genya and keep him from the highly fatal life of a Demon Slayer, but this isn't how you accomplish that. Let it not be forgotten, that gouging out someone's eyes in the manner Sanemi attempted, is a literal torture tactic. The eyeballs are soft, and crushing them takes the same amount of pressure to smash a grape. If the blood loss doesn't kill you, the infection that festers can find its way into the brain and kill you regardless. Not to mention the fact that Genya is his literal brother who he verbally disowns on multiple occassions; further wounding Genya's confidence.
The problem here is that Genya doesn't accept that he's "disowned" because he follows Sanemi into the corps to reconnect. Genya isn't skilled at all yet he's following someone who's a Hashira into danger. Genya being a demon slayer is a self imposed burden that can get him killed. Simply stated, Genya wants two things that contradict eachother and this is the result.

The point of the training for tanjiro; Tanjiro knows the sun breathing style, which is OG breathing style that other styles derive from....so in learning from each other style...that would further increase is capabilities in the hinokami... So he knows water breathing, and that helped his hinokami become more fluid in movement...learning from from the love hashira, could help his style become more flexible.....serpent hashira, could help his hinokami become more accurate in striking.... In the case of the wind hashira, it could help his attacks become more forceful and offensive....thats what wind breathing emphasizes...
Although Genya is remorseful, I bet Sanemi is very hurt over how he reacted for having to kill their mother. It was a hard choice I can imagine and having your only surviving sibling say those things must of been tough

I liked how they showed all the Hashira being unhinged in different ways, Wind being totally out of control. I think they're doing a pretty good job of keeping it moving in general, this arc is mostly just to introduce you to the Hashira more and you're not supposed to like all of them.
So apparently you can just get away with anything if you're a Hashira. Obanai tied up the Demon Slayer trainees, and used them as training dummies, out of personal spite, and Sanemi tried to gouge out Genya's eyes and beat up Tanjiro beyond recovery; both of which, faced no repercussions.
I feel like in the manga they made it more clear on why Sanemi did what he did NOT SAYING IT WAS OKAY AT ALL but some people didn't understand it so here it is. Since he lost his whole family Genya it's literally the only family he has left and wants to protect him without actually showing it so he thought for some reason if I hurt my brother permanently he won't be able to fight and he won't die on a battlefield. Which I don't know what kind of logic that is but that's basically what he was trying to do he's trying to push his brother further and further away from him i guess so it hurts less. And his character wiki it literally says due to the amount of people he's lost he comes off as cold and rude. It also States "This was however never expressed outwardly as he tried to push Genya away from him and the Demon Slayers so he wouldn't be exposed to danger." Ask for the whole GENYA regenerating as a margarita I actually don't think he can if he's not in demon form it's been years since I read the Manga might have to reread it again but if Sanemi did that to him when he wasn't in demon form I don't think he would be able to regenerate his eyes
the scar face was for pain tolerance and endurance. the trainings went like this, stamina, dexterity, flexibility/agility, accuracy, pain tolerance/endurance, and we'll find out next episode

Yeah in the manga the hashira training is not really about the training. It's more about exploring how the different characters feel before the final arc, that's why you hardly see any of it in the manga.
Here a neat little fact the serpent hashira eyes are Honey and Lapis lazuli in kanji honey colored is Mitsu and Lapis lazuli is Ri so his eyes are Mitsu-ri
So I haven't seen the comment yet (it's prob here somewhere), but in the manga it's explained that eating demons *is* super taboo. I wouldn't say Sanemi attempting to beat the everliving shit out of Genya was directly a punishment for that, but... yeah, something to know.
Stamina, rapid movement ,Flexibility, sword skills, infinite striking, and muscle amplification training is supposed be what’s happening and then whatever Giyu is going to teach since he’s joining in at some point now
The reason why The wind hashira wanted to stab genya in the eye was so he wouldn’t be able to fight anymore. He wanted his brother to live a happy life and away from demons and try to attack him as a way to convince him to leave the demon slayer corpse in order to live his life. The wind hashira did this to protect him.
Japan's culture has a tremendous amount of emphasis on respect for one's superiors so it's more surprising Tanjiro got away with JUST a reprimand and a restraining order, and he probably only got that due to Tanjiro's recent contributions to the Demon Slayer Corps. But yeah it is funny how there is exactly ONE Hashira that Tanjiro doesn't like, given how much of an ass Sanemi is to 99% of people it's not hard to see why.

11:56 This arc gonna stay like that, while watching it doesn't really feel like you get much out of it, for lack of better words it feels like filler, it's only later on that we can appreciate this arc as all the training + the stuff we learn about the characters comes into play.

Yeah, I also think that Sanemi wants Genya out of the demon slayer corps as soon as possible because they're about to go to war with the demons soon and Muzan and the Upper Moons could attack at any moment and he didn't want Genya to be a part of that and getting himself killed as he is all he has left.
That and he was most likely blinded by rage and lost control when Genya told him that he eats demons and knowing their backstory and Sanemi's hatred of demons, that was bound to go wrong.

So I believe we're going to be mostly sticking with the manga pacing/material from here on out, as there's only three episodes left and even if the last episode is double length, they're going to have to pick up the pace if they want to adapt everything. This episode itself is basically two chapters with only some expansions (namely the final Obanai v. Tanjiro fight), unlike the previous two which were just one page each. Mitsuri's training being so short is basically how Tengen's and Muichiro's would have been if the anime just stuck strictly to manga material.

Both Genya and Sanemi(Wind Hashira) have rare genetics. Genya is a rare human that is able to get demon abilities *temporarily* depending on the demon that he consumes. Sanemi on the other hand has rare Marechi blood which is a delicacy for demons as it's "very nutritious" to make them stronger quickly. It's explained back on Season 1 that eating just 1 human with Marechi blood type is equal to eating a hundred normal humans.
I've always wondered about their genetics tbh, did they get them from their parents and how come their other siblings don't have those genetics? That and the question why Sanemi is the only one with white hair in his family lol

Sanemi is seriously misunderstood. Being able to take hits is one thing but the tenacity he gives when beating everyone is the reality hes trying to show when fighting demons. Plus a lot of people seem to have forgotten sanemi and genyas backstory. Id be sanemi too if i heard that first, i have to train members who have little to ZERO experience in fighting formidable demons, and second if i heard my little brother who denounced me for protecting him from our DEMON mother, went and ate demons.

Given the situation Sanemi and his brother are in and knowing that Genya would always have been in danger and tried to follow in Sanemi's footsteps, especially now that they are about to go to war and that Genya might get himself killed. In his mind, he had to get Genya out of the demon slayer corps as soon as possible and an injured brother is better than a dead one.

Imagine having a sibling you love, not be able to use breathing techniques when you absolutely usually need to, to kill demons, say he wants to fight in a war with demons? Sorry to my little brother but I'd be trying to make it hard for him to be a demon slayer if that means keeping him safe and alive.

I get that people want to defend Shinazugawa for this act because in the end, he wants to protect Genya and keep him from the highly fatal life of a Demon Slayer, but this isn't how you accomplish that.
Let it not be forgotten, that gouging out someone's eyes in the manner Sanemi attempted, is a literal torture tactic. The eyeballs are soft, and crushing them takes the same amount of pressure to smash a grape. If the blood loss doesn't kill you, the infection that festers can find its way into the brain and kill you regardless.
Not to mention the fact that Genya is his literal brother who he verbally disowns on multiple occassions; further wounding Genya's confidence.

The problem here is that Genya doesn't accept that he's "disowned" because he follows Sanemi into the corps to reconnect. Genya isn't skilled at all yet he's following someone who's a Hashira into danger. Genya being a demon slayer is a self imposed burden that can get him killed. Simply stated, Genya wants two things that contradict eachother and this is the result.

The point of the training for tanjiro;
Tanjiro knows the sun breathing style, which is OG breathing style that other styles derive from....so in learning from each other style...that would further increase is capabilities in the hinokami...
So he knows water breathing, and that helped his hinokami become more fluid in movement...learning from from the love hashira, could help his style become more flexible.....serpent hashira, could help his hinokami become more accurate in striking....
In the case of the wind hashira, it could help his attacks become more forceful and offensive....thats what wind breathing emphasizes...

I liked how they showed all the Hashira being unhinged in different ways, Wind being totally out of control. I think they're doing a pretty good job of keeping it moving in general, this arc is mostly just to introduce you to the Hashira more and you're not supposed to like all of them.
So apparently you can just get away with anything if you're a Hashira. Obanai tied up the Demon Slayer trainees, and used them as training dummies, out of personal spite, and Sanemi tried to gouge out Genya's eyes and beat up Tanjiro beyond recovery; both of which, faced no repercussions.

I feel like in the manga they made it more clear on why Sanemi did what he did NOT SAYING IT WAS OKAY AT ALL but some people didn't understand it so here it is.
Since he lost his whole family Genya it's literally the only family he has left and wants to protect him without actually showing it so he thought for some reason if I hurt my brother permanently he won't be able to fight and he won't die on a battlefield. Which I don't know what kind of logic that is but that's basically what he was trying to do he's trying to push his brother further and further away from him i guess so it hurts less.
And his character wiki it literally says due to the amount of people he's lost he comes off as cold and rude. It also States "This was however never expressed outwardly as he tried to push Genya away from him and the Demon Slayers so he wouldn't be exposed to danger."
Ask for the whole GENYA regenerating as a margarita I actually don't think he can if he's not in demon form it's been years since I read the Manga might have to reread it again but if Sanemi did that to him when he wasn't in demon form I don't think he would be able to regenerate his eyes

Yeah in the manga the hashira training is not really about the training. It's more about exploring how the different characters feel before the final arc, that's why you hardly see any of it in the manga.
Here a neat little fact the serpent hashira eyes are Honey and Lapis lazuli in kanji honey colored is Mitsu and Lapis lazuli is Ri so his eyes are Mitsu-ri
So I haven't seen the comment yet (it's prob here somewhere), but in the manga it's explained that eating demons *is* super taboo. I wouldn't say Sanemi attempting to beat the everliving shit out of Genya was directly a punishment for that, but... yeah, something to know.

mitsuri turning everyone into to a greater version of Inosuke is horrifying training. Break all the bones and muscles with no prep.
The reason why The wind hashira wanted to stab genya in the eye was so he wouldn’t be able to fight anymore. He wanted his brother to live a happy life and away from demons and try to attack him as a way to convince him to leave the demon slayer corpse in order to live his life. The wind hashira did this to protect him.
Japan's culture has a tremendous amount of emphasis on respect for one's superiors so it's more surprising Tanjiro got away with JUST a reprimand and a restraining order, and he probably only got that due to Tanjiro's recent contributions to the Demon Slayer Corps. But yeah it is funny how there is exactly ONE Hashira that Tanjiro doesn't like, given how much of an ass Sanemi is to 99% of people it's not hard to see why.
