One of the least intrusive nail clippers is using a Dremmel so it is simply grinding at a gentle pace. Home Depot or Lowes hold many. Great variety. ALSO, WATER TO SOFTEN NAIL. My boxers, rotties german shepard and even a kitty loved it. The boxers fell asleep. I hold them like a baby and wrap a blanket around them, have snacks for the end with one at beginning.
Great information! In time they will all be pros at it. Just takes time and patience . They are very smart and will achieve it. Momo and Gentaro are timid and shy. Which is adorable in those big beautiful creatures!! Genki is nervous and scared. But loves her food reward so she will always achieve it.Kintaro can be taught early when the time is right! They have no capacity to understand whats being done to them like we do. We understand that these tests are meant help us. These are primitive animals and cant think about stuff like science like us. They are just there for the fruity rewards 😅
My Momotaro and my baby Gentaro (I don’t care what you say Gentaro will always be that little baby gorilla in that diaper that was way too big and that pink bottle running around) are exactly the same both very timid, and so dang dang handsome ❤❤❤❤ I love this gorilla family troop❤❤❤❤

I don't know if you've seen this, but it's definitely worth watching. I believe this must have been taken by one of the keepers. Put the sound up to hear Momotaro laughing for 5 minutes. It's called, Gorilla wrestling: A Father-Son Bond. It put a smile on my face and I hope it does yours. 💐

I think as young as one can is ideal even if they are not clipped they feel what will be used and the position they will be in and soften with water. Special yum snack only for that procedure. Like bananas on peanut butter or almond butter. Depends if allergies too. ❤ my little 2 pennies.

Eu concordo com os exames de fezes, urina, toda semana, eu cheguei a ajudar uma colega que tinha 300 caramujos Africanos para pesquisa, ajudava dar banho, é era feito exames de fezes toda semana, eu sei que são animais difetentes, mas com isso da para sabet como está ocorrendo a digestão, o aproveitamento de nutrientes.
I fell in love with this family 6 years ago! Kintaro is plenty old enough to train him for blood draws, even EKG,'S, ETC. Like I just commented, if Ginki has good vitals, Ultrsound of her heart, cardiac output, kidney function... she's is an excellent Mom, better than money humans, pregnancy & caring for a baby would be wonderful for her. She has perfect mobility. Average life span for females is 50-52. She loves being a Mom.

Oh wait another question-does Gentaro still dance with him? Comment-Genki will never get pregnant with Kintaro around. If he thinks his father is even a little interested in his mom he clings to her back and walks behind her-hhahahahaha He likes being the baby of the family!
Mr. Nagao, Gentaro's foster dad, does visit the enclosure at least once a day. I don't know what interaction he made have with Gentaro, but Gentaro does recognize him.

They wouldn't have their nails clipped in the wild, (or any of the other tests the zookeepers do). I'm glad that they are able to have those tests done at the zoo though regardless.
Acredito que as suas unhas se desgastariam naturalmente, pois teriam mais mobilidade na selva do que tem em cativeiro. E também sofrem um stress alto com a presença e barulho constante dos visitantes, por mais educados que sejam. Acho adequado que monitorem a saúde deles. ❤
There was a video a couple months ago taken from inside that black cage thing. It was the zookeeper and some other lady with kintaro and gentaro on the other side. I was surprised to see how nasty kintaro was. He was trying to stab them with a stick. Trying to punch them. We spitting at them. I was reminded that these really are wild uncivilized animals, but it was just him that was very mean towards them. Gentaro wasnt like that. It makes me wonder if its just bc kintaro is young, or if he will be an aggressive nasty gorilla when he gets older. Just like people they are all different when they grow up. Some are reserved and calm, others are aggressive and nasty. Guess we shall see over time.
