Much thanks Freeley.. i did have the hub that i tried but didn't work cos i didn't have a power bank to power it up, then my Sandisk unlocker messed up my SSD.. then i plugged in the SSD then SD card didn't work, but SD card first then SSD worked on my Samsung S24.. not sure why but what the hey, its all working great now, able to copy files from SD to SSD. i looked all over and most recommend the Ravpower or Gnarbox, but this is better for me.. awesome.. much thanks, very much appreciated.
thanks for clarifying! I'll add that to the description

I have found a hub that you can insert an m.2 SSD in , I think that may be able to simplify a lot the setup because you could then only with the hub only copy files from the SD to the M.2 SSD inside the Hub
I've been looking at this solution. but instead would be using a cfast card reader (I am concerned it will be too much power for a phone). when using a hub that you can insert an m.2 SSD in (I was looking at Satechi USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter with SSD Enclosure). how many additional devices can you connect before it's too much power for the phone? edit: planning to use this solution to offload canon c200 raw files (can easily be 2tb or more)
UPDATE 2022: The CHEAPEST Gnarbox solution (for Android & Samsung Users) is to simply plug the Card Reader into your smartphone and drag & drop the files. This works extremely well, especially if your smartphone STILL HAS 👉EXPANDABLE EXTERNAL MEMORY CARD👈 options. Sidenote: Please stop rewarding these Smartphone manufactures with your hard-earned money, for new devices that LOCK you out of ACTUAL "PRO FEATURES"...but still want to use the phrase "PRO" to market their devices. 🙏
Thanks so much for the video. Everything went well. One problem I use Olympus cameras and the file format in my WD storage is not recognized in Lightroom. If I take the SD card out of the transfer set up and go into my computer it reads the sd card just fine. So any Ideas about this problem?
It MIGHT be because your WD storage isn't formatted to something that Lightroom can recognize. When you put your SD card in, it reads that fine so that tells me it's probably the WD storage.
Thanks for this video bro! I already asked the question if it would be possible to use my phone instead of a laptop. But people in the shop weren't very helpful. You explained how to put my theory into practice. I spent less than 100 euro's now and saved mayby 400 or 500 Euro's! Again, thanks a lot!
Hey Question on the Canon M50 Battery Grip extension, when fitted to a Ronin - SC gimbal does it give enough clearance from the motors? trying to figure out if i can use the battery extension for my set up without spending money on it.
Great idea. 3 questions? How long would 128GB take to transfer to SSD and does the cable that you connect to the phone. Does it charge it while it transfers?? Also does the SSD type determine the transfer speed? For example newer ssds have faster transfer speeds
1st Q: Depends on the transfer speeds of the SD card and the SSD 2nd Q: No, it doesn't charge while connected. When the backup battery is connected to the dongle it powers the hard drive you connect. 3rd Q: Yes, depending on the SSD you get, it will have faster or slower read/write speeds. This one has a good combination of read/write speed and ruggedness for on-the-go: amzn.to/2RTAvVB
Do you know if the new hub you have listed (the Anker) will still pass power through to the Ext HDD if you don't have a battery bank that is USB PD? I have an older batter bank and don't want to buy a new one yet... Great video, wish I had seen it in time to get the hub you originally recommended!
Hey man I have got a question. Can I use my 12V ciggerate lighter to power my USB hub instead? Do you think that Is sufficient power and would harm my hard drive (hard drive only has a USB c port which I use to plug in USB port of the USB hub)
Can someone HELP me? I have the same setup showed in the video, except the battery/powerbank (whatever you call it). But my Hard drive makes sounds as soon as i connect it to the USB-Hub BUT my phone doesnt show up the HardDrive in my File Manager... Does somebody have some solutions for me?
It's the same but you would go to the file manager on iPhone. I unfortunately don't have an iPhone so I can't give step by step instructions on how to do it.
I see where you're coming from but for me and I'm sure with many other ppl they prefer to save their photos or files on an external HD they own. In addition to that since my use case for this setup is more for travel and in those situations idk where or when ill have a reliable internet connection to upload to a cloud storage, this is a great option to at least be able to back up my files directly to a HD and not risk losing my files. I hope that makes sense!
It is stopped working, no repair option…. I am regret to bought. It is need to post back to the manufacturer to save my pictures… ridiculous… I try to post every video, maybe someone read this comment….
Not for me! I always carry a charge bank for charging my phone as well as my camera batteries and the hub and HDD both will fit on my HDD hard cover.... NOTHING MORE! But I don't know what's the problem and your travel style ....
@Marshal Entertainments I agree! A lot of these things most photographers and videographers are already carrying and if you have the recent macbooks, you'd already have a USB hub in some form or fashion! 😂
I don't think I heard the mention of OTG, but since the hub in question is out of stock, alternatives will need to support USB On The Go (OTG).
thanks for clarifying! I'll add that to the description

that's cool! do you have a link?
@@freeleymedia Sure , here it is amzn.to/3qkn8uj . But be aware , haven't tested it yet , but I don't see any reason why it would not work

Thanks mate, that was very clear and informative. All the best. Cheers!
Glad it helped!

wow that's awesome! Glad you were able to save some money!
Thank You, I was looking for an alternative for storage.
Glad I could help
Thanks very helpful, I didnt know you could do that, heres to a try on my iphone!!
Let me know how it goes!
Hey Question on the Canon M50 Battery Grip extension, when fitted to a Ronin - SC gimbal does it give enough clearance from the motors? trying to figure out if i can use the battery extension for my set up without spending money on it.
I wish I could tell you. I have the Zhiyun weebil s so I can't test it myself
Thanks for a super helpful tutorial. I just want to clarify that we must connect the power bank to the port called PD ?
That is just what I need thank you.
Hi, thank you for this helpful video. I have a question about what cheap external flash should I get for my M50?
The neewer external flash is a good option!

Hi there, can you suggest a currently available hub which will perform the function shown in this video
Hey man I have got a question. Can I use my 12V ciggerate lighter to power my USB hub instead? Do you think that Is sufficient power and would harm my hard drive (hard drive only has a USB c port which I use to plug in USB port of the USB hub)
Does the model with 3 Usb Slots and 1 HDMI slot work as well for this? Because its 15 bucks cheaper so i would tend to buy this, if this works as well
If it has a slot for an SD or microSD, then go for it.
awesome video! very helpful. thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Mate. Very handy. Cheers
Cheers!
thanx man I appreciate this, very interesting strategy
Glad it was helpful!
Does the Speedbooster for the M50 messes up the focus?
Nope, auto focus works fine
That was 30gb correct? How long did it really take to transfer over? Does it really take less than a minute?
Yes, 30gb. It took about 6mins to transfer over
Cooooooolllllllll ~ I can use it out on the ground and not with my iPad mini
Fantastic. Thanks so much
of course! if you have any questions, let me know!
Thanks bro!
Any time
did you ever try to copy a full sd card.. let's say 64gb or 128gb - how long would it take, do you know?
It's hard to say. It kinda depends on the speed of the SD card and the USB hub
Can I delete what is on my SD card with my phone ?
I believe so.
Can someone HELP me?

Hey, dont have a solution yet, but you need to enable On-the-go on youur phone
You need external power, especially for HDD's. Use SSD and get external power too.
hi, this setup only work on android, can u do the ios version for this setup?
How do I do it on iPhone?
It's the same but you would go to the file manager on iPhone. I unfortunately don't have an iPhone so I can't give step by step instructions on how to do it.
Call me naive, but why don't you just use a SD to USB C adaptor, then plug that straight into your phone and upload to a cloud?
I see where you're coming from but for me and I'm sure with many other ppl they prefer to save their photos or files on an external HD they own. what on purpose you using the headphone?
To hear myself as I record to make sure I'm talking at a good volume
@@freeleymedia no, once you check the mic. No clipping, then the rest audio is fine.
If I put the card in my back in my camera are the files still going to be there?
Yes. The mode shown was to copy, not to move.
HOW CAN U DO THIS WITH A IPHONE 11 !!!! OR IOS ? There’s no file manger like that on iOS ????
Have you ever had corrupted files from this?
so far that hasn't occurred for me
It is stopped working, no repair option…. I am regret to bought. It is need to post back to the manufacturer to save my pictures… ridiculous… I try to post every video, maybe someone read this comment….
Thats still a lot of gear to carry around.
Not for me!
I always carry a charge bank for charging my phone as well as my camera batteries and the hub and HDD both will fit on my HDD hard cover.... NOTHING MORE!

If you're already carrying a backup battery, smartphone, Sd card, amd hard drive while traveling, you're only really adding the USB hub
@Marshal Entertainments I agree! A lot of these things most photographers and videographers are already carrying and if you have the recent macbooks, you'd already have a USB hub in some form or fashion! 😂
First!
You get a 🏆 😂
Thanks😂
This is not in a sense a gnarbox alternative because this requires phone to work.
But who doesn't travel with a phone these days?
