It's ROSS-KOP... how do you collect skateboards and not know how to pronounce his name is beyond me. Nothing you got was vintage and no the garbage pale kid board is not his. He's been out of skateboarding since the early 90's. You got robbed on your so called deals. Lol
So, this young guy comes into the local thrift shop while I was I was doing my daily picking. I asked him about his arm in a massive plaster cast. He said he did it skateboarding. Anyway, I said, "Oh, I know a skater. Ever hear of Tucker Upper?" (While it's true that you wouldn't know me if I bit you, I do know that you exist.) He said, "Oh, man! He's a LEGEND!" Apparently, you're famous among the skaters in North Carolina.

The Garbage pail deck is Rob Roskopp's design, he owns Santa Cruz bikes! I had one of his decks in the 80s when he was skating!

my skateboard is probably older than you are. its a mike mcgill with the skull and the snake coming out of its mouth. i also have my skateboard from the 70's bahne deck with chicago trucks and Cadillac wheels. the wheels rotted away on that one.

That's called trying to make a buck...or 160. Don't hate on it. Its how some of us make some $$ to live or throw back away. Whoever pays that high price pays it for a reason that makes sense to them. Nobody forced them to buy it. It's possible that some day that deck will be worth 10 times more if buyer discovers who actually signed it. It's called real life lottery and its great...besides when it sucks.

And here we are today. Bushings are great. They help you turn good. If you need new bushings buy new bushings or bushings called Doh Doh's from Shortys Hardware company if you can find them on eBay. Sorry to say but as a vintage skateboard collector, none of those boards were overly valuable or collectable. The best thing you showed was the Birdhouse Tony Hawk and even that one isn't super rare or valuable.
I actually agree with you in the fact that they are not very valuable, but a few of them will become much more valuable over time. The signed Bull Dog Skates are a specific audience but will increase in value over time. Either way for what we paid I will say we got an amazing deal, sold just one board and it paid for about 90% of the 8 boards I purchased. Two are staying in my personal collection and a few of the other were sold for just profit. Happy Collecting!

I used to work with Paul Schmitt, "Schmitt Stix", when he worked for Vision and built all of their improvements like offices, production tables, benches and all that. He then went on his own and started New Deal and I contiuned working for him. He gave me a lot of goodies through the years, stickers, beanies, boards ect. The one thing I still have and has been hanging on the wall for 30 years is the Black Label candy board. I've watched videos of all these people and their collections and nobody has one or doesn't show one. I've searched and searched to find an original like mine for sale with no luck except for a used reissued one for $1300.00. Have you ever seen or come across one of these candy boards? if so, what was the price tag??

Ok Ive been collecting skateboards since I was a kid. I currently own over 300 boards from the 80s. THE ONLY VINTAGE BOARD YOU BOUGHT WAS THAT BART SIMPSON. All your boards are basic entry level collector boards. They are cool but not vintage. Hopefully you didnt spent more than $200 on those boards if you plan to make money reselling. Sorry to burst your bubble.

The Santa Cruz Garbage Pail Kids is a Rob Roskopp, The Bulldog Skates company is owned by Wes Humpston, same guy that did the graphic on that deck as well as the Dogtown deck. The Muskabeatz is from 2003. The Bart deck may have value to a Simpsons collector, not in skateboard collecting it's self.
Your friens decks....the signed is a Bulldog Skates. The Mars Attacks decks are Santa Cruz. Steve Cab is a reissue. If that green Mars Attacks thing is a non applied heat transfer (how they apply the graphic to the decks these days) it has the most value out of all those.
And the shrink wrap really doesn't mean much. 99% of collectors are ripping that off and putting them in storage bags from U-line. Even if hanging on the wall it will get removed as the decks look better and it doesn't really add value. People can always shrimp them themselves as well.
Signed decks. Some see it as marking the deck and not adding value, some see it as value, and some see it as just writing on a deck unless there is pictures of the person signing it or holding it signed.
"Limited" release decks don't always mean value, cause they were produced with the intent on collecting.
Skateboard collecting is a crazy crazy world. I myself have designed a lot of skateboard graphics, some sell for thousands, some the regular price of a skateboard. It's crazy what will gain value at times.
Hey Bro the Santa Cruz Garbage Pail kids were a blind bag board. They had a few regular issues like the one you had. Then they sent about 50 blanks out to some amazing artists to paint the garbage pail kids on and they were one offs. Some of the original painted boards were selling up to $3000 at one point. They were first released at NYCC about 3 years ago. The board your friend got of the Mars Attacks was the next blind bag set they did the following year. Tucker, best and most personal content I’ve seen from u yet. Of course I’m 3 videos in and new to the channel but the love u have and way u ended the vid I appreciate as a fellow skater. I grew up skating in the SF Bay Area all thru the 90’s, all day every day. Best memories ever trying to find new skate spots with friends and going back to the favorite spots to meet up with other skaters. U just skated because u loved it back then when it wasn’t really big or popular at all like it is now. Anyways thanks for the deep dive on skate culture and I hope u continue to produce more content and open dialogue like u explored here. U are extremely relatable bro and we old skaters, ahem, have more in common than we realize. The dream is very much so alive.

Rob roskopp boards from Santa Cruz very popular I know how you don't remember him every one of his decks used to have like that arm making a bicep muscle with the bullseye then like every 6 months it would change the graphics slightly
My dad just scored an entire locker of 80’s Hosoi & Lester boards. Well most of them are blank but still, probably 30 out of 2k boards in there have the art. Was looking for some info on them and stumbled on this haha.

I used to have a long paved hot top driveway growing up in Ohio... the Diveway and a gentile nice incline and we would line up at the top 4~5 wide and demolition derby race on on stomachs down to the end and who made it first won! So much friggin fun that was! Running over your own or somebody else’s fingers was common and if you grabbed the guy I front of you, you could sling shot off him to gain good speed but as you pass you have to crash him out and make sure he doesn’t try and sling shot you! Not knowing the value of stuff is so true. I knew these guys from the bronx who would rob truckers back in the 80s and would have the neighborhood kid sell off most of the stuff they scored. When i was asking what happened since no merchandise was on the street the kids who hustled the stuff said they ended up with a whole truck of sex toys and fake dicks. I was dieing. Two weeks later i saw the guys and asked they said they had it all in a storage unit i told them to take 1 of each item they had and go to 42 street walk in each shop and tell them they had a store in texas that they closed and moved here and want to unload all the stuff. Told them the phone books of other states philly Jersey mass same thing. I saw them 3 weeks later and everyone of the 5 jokers gave me a 100 bill and thanked me they said that the load made them 385 grand.
My son had a skateboard of Bart. Back then it was top of the line for 50 bucks, near Knotts Berry Farm. Now he says it was a cheap board. It was the most expensive in the shop at that time.

I wouldn't invest too much in skating decks since the people who know about them and would love them are not the types how hold down good paying jobs with extra cash. They are cool as shit though and since your into them buy them with the mind set that you are buying them for yourself not as a investment and that way tour not pushing them and you will make better money just take the time to sit on them. Decks are cool because you can stack them on on top of the other in a closet and store 400 decks in a closet.

I use to run the largest skateboard collecting group online. I've seen decks go for over $10k for a single deck. The top 100 publicly sold decks have all gone for over $3000 each. To your surprise perhaps, is that most mid '90s decks fetch more then 60s-80s decks, due to era and what was going on in the industry at the time and how limited the runs of graphics were at that time. For example an 1986 Tony HAwk decks were made by the thousands, where as say a Sean Sheffy PlanB deck, from the Virtual Reality era maybe had a couple hundred made of one graphic. (I'm only a couple minutes into the video. I'm excited to see what it holds!)
