Hey Dogumentary TV, I would like to see videos of temperament tests on non trained dogs. Like the presa, Corso, etc. It would be neat to see how some of these everyday family dogs perform under pressure without being trained. Just a thought.
People talking about « mastiff working breeds » in the comments is kinda. As if working mastiff’s was a big thing. Take a breed and mostly a breeding program that suits you. I was looking for an athletic breed to practice canicross, dock diving and frisbee but not too competitively. No border nor mal for me. I searched for WSS, GS, Tervueren, and even Nov Scot dogs. The breeding program was much more important than the breed at the end of the day.
Read some of the comments here…any dog can be a good dog, depending on what you want. Yes, some breeds are better than others at certain things. But training and expectations are the key. My 6 month old CC male is smart, somewhat stubborn and very protective. He doesn’t look for trouble but he doesn’t back down either…very balanced. And for the record I currently have a AmStaff/EM mix and a Presa Canario/Dogo Argentino mix. And I’ve had Pits, a Lab, a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Bullmastiff/Rott. Two of my best friends breed GSD, Dutch’s and Mals. And according to them my CC pup has all of the “go” that he needs.
Hello, Zeke. Request for a future on the topic of personal protection. I and several other people would love it if could do a really in depth video on the genetics required to successfully train or develop a PPD. What is prey drive? What is defence drive? Is one better than the other or what ratio of the two is ideal? What makes a dog suitable for PPD? I know this is covered a bit but how to go about getting a prospect for a PPD
My border collie has more drive than some of these pups hehe hard to find a good Corso nowadays. That lady on this channel has some really great looking dogs though

They will continue to develop till an age of about two and a half, and how big they will end up depends on the parents. Breed standards dictate they end up around 100-110 lbs. Try to let it gain weight slowly, keep it lean at a younger age, it will save you a ton of money later (health problems of gaining weight too quickly).

Bullshit, presa are scatter bred terrible, dogo... yes Incredible animals. However, the corso like ANY other breed comes down to the breeding program. I have not had. I'd like to think if I ever get one it can run and leap without having a massive heart attack :)
I'm not trying to be funny but does anyone know why mastiffs tummies look like that? How come the dogs in zeke video look so much healthier and athletic? Are mastiffs supposed to have huge bellies?
and besides uncropped and undocked dogs such as doberman, boxer, great dane, cane corso just looks so stupid. My doberman looks much better cropped and docked
@@kalebportes4541 no it doesn't. Why not crop and dock other breeds? Make your daft mind think about that for a second and get back to me. Crop your ears too then?
Other dogs, such as the Brussels Griffon, were historically kept in stables to catch vermin or other pests. Cropping the ears protected them from damaging bites when cornering a rat or another unwelcome animal. Hunting and sporting breeds such as spaniels often go into thick brush to track game. While some of these breeds (such as a Labrador Retriever) have thick, strong tails or tails with thick hair, other breeds that have weaker tails with often wispy hair are prone to injury when they run through thick brush or brambles. In the same way, a docked tail on a terrier makes it stronger, which helps an owner more safely and easily pull these burrowing dogs out of holes. For example, the bottom two-thirds of the Airedale Terrier’s tail is very strong and may be used to help pull them to safety when they are digging and hunting animals in the ground. The last third, however, is very weak and fragile. When not docked, the tail is prone to breaking, splitting or other serious injuries. Lots of working dogs get cropped to avoid injuries, this also includes guard dogs. If they're cropped they won't get their ears or tails ripped off while protecting you from wild animals or being pulled by another person. So educate yourself about why cropping is done before you say dumb shit like this
