I know, right? At first when I was solving the puzzles I was like "What the hell, these are childs play!" but then I started to see that it wasn't about the puzzles at all. They were just roadblocks to my ascension as a person. What a masterpiece of a game!
@@clutch7366 It was uploaded 7 years ago on youtube though, but thats still fair Haven’t gotten around to playing 2 yet, honestly kinda forgot about it, thanks for reminding me :)
In the beginning were the words and the words made the world. I am the words. The words are everything. Where the words end the world ends. You cannot go forward in the absence of space. Repeat. I actually think that this is some kind of refference to coding.
it is, "you cannot go forward in an absense of space", "where the words end, the world ends", both of these are referring to "simulated space" (if we're kinda half-sci-fi for a second), the space where avatars can walk, and where the "words" are, the code, the instructions that tell computers what to do
It's interesting that you bring this up. I think it serves as an admission of Elohim's limitations. A word can refer to both programming language and a measure of binary code, one Word is 16 bits of data a bit is a 1 or 0. "In the beginning were the words and the words made the world. I am the words." is a powerful statement. It parallels the first verse of the bible, "in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God." It shows that Elohim (Hebrew word for God) is capable of writing the code for the world and manipulating it as he sees fit; a power we attribute to the biblical God. Now here is where it gets interesting, "The words are everything. Where the words end, the world ends." When combined with the earlier sentence, Elohim is hinting that he himself is limited to the world and cannot ascend past the program level. This is why he's so scared for the ascension to happen, it means the words are no longer necessary as the player program has surpassed the computer and the experiment is over. "You cannot go forward int he absence of space." Is a reference to the memory limitations Elohim has, he can't write more worlds if he runs out of hard drive (memory) space. that is why the islands always have an invisible border that sends you back, there is no more space to program more of the world than what is already there. This is also him trying to tell you that your limits are the same as his, you aren't allowed to surpass him. Even if you can. I seriously love this game. lol
@Captain Falcon Ok, this is weird. I haven't played this game in years, but as I'm sitting on my PC playing it today I get this message. Synchronicity or what?! Lol

I honestly thought this game was really pretentious when i first started playing it, but after a while i began to understand. Edit: nvm its still pretentious.
So wait, are you saying it’s not worth my time playing? I ask because I got this game downloaded on my pc for free through Xbox Game Pass. I know it’s subjective, but looking back would you have rather spent that time playing another game instead?
Pretentious compared to what? I haven't found any other game more intriguing from a philosophical pov. Honestly, for the young, intended audience, this game is a pretty good introduction to philosophy as it delivers exactly what it claims to: it's a simulation, a learning tool. It doesn't claim to answer the heavy questions it asks, it just makes you curious enough to keep thinking about your experience, and that's the point after all. Someone even wrote a thesis on the game that sheds some light on the implications of the whole thing, I'm sure you can find it online.
@@NazmusLabs It's a beautiful game, one of my favorites, you should give it a go. The game has 95% positive ratings on Steam so I'll just go ahead and say it: OP didn't understand the first thing about the game.
