I feel like rain is also not admitting that millennials have struggled for longer than gen z. Gen z is just becoming adults so they’re young, have hope, and are likely just starting to be fully responsible for themselves. Most of them experienced covid during school when they got to skip school and be taken care of. Millennials have been adults for a while now with the worries of climate change, social injustices, and a horrible economy where most have struggled hard and then were hit by Covid and likely completely fucked, like me. I have done so much work with activism, left my religion, questioned everything and do what I can, all while working my ass off and remaining on the edge of homelessness since Covid when I lost everything I had over the course of one year, including losing the life of my closest grandparent. It’s just silly to think the way rain does. I’m so over generational talk in general. Loved the pod - but the millennial hate was so disheartening and unwarranted in my opinion. Just here to point out that millennials are the most educated generation in history (38% of millennials hold a bachelor’s degree or higher) - while simultaneously having the least wealth of any generation. Gen Z already holds more wealth. We were fed the lies that going to college and getting a degree were the key to success. We got Obama in and then after the shit storm of Trumps presidency I’m fucking 40 and burnt out.
@soulboom I have to defend millennials because this shit is so old. All that rebellion that gen z has, THEY LEARNED FROM US! They learned about social and political issues from their older siblings/cousins/people online! Millennials (especially 90's millennials) were actually very radical. But because of the avacado toast stereotypes, we were largely ignored. The black lives matter movement was started by millennials.
