रोशनआरा, एक शक्तिशाली मुगलकालीन शहजादी जिसने एक भाई को गद्दी पर बैठाया, तो दूसरे भाई के कटे हुए रक्तरंजित सिर को पिता शाहजहां को सौंपा।आज मै आप लोगों को ले आई हूं, लाल किले से 3 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर बने एक महल में जिसे शाहजहाँ की छोटी बेटी रोशनआरा ने अपने लिए बनवाया था। गद्दी पर उत्तराधिकार पाने की लड़ाई में औरंगजेब ओर शाहजहाँ के बीच लड़ाई शुरू हो जाती है।जिसके पीछे की रणनीति रोशनआरा तय करती है और जासूस की तरह किले में रहकर सारी खबर औरंगजेब को देती है और एक दिन औरंगजेब अपने पिता को किले में कैद कर खुद को मुगल सल्तनत का वारिस घोषित कर देता है। और हद तो तब हो जाती है जब औरंगज़ेब सार्वजनिक रूप से भाई दाराशिकोह का सिर काट देते हैं और किले मेन कैदी बनाकर रखे गए पिता शाहजहाँ को गहरा सदमा लगता हैं ओर वो बीमार रहने लगते हैं।
बाद के वर्षों में, रोशनआरा मुगल राजनीति से दूर एक सामान्य जीवन बिताने के लिए यहां चली आई और शक्ति नगर के पास जंगलों में यह महल बनाया जिसकी जमीन शाहजहां ने रोशनआरा को भेंट में दी थी और आज सब लोग इसे “रोशनआरा बारादरी” के नाम से जानते हैं।तो चलिए चलते हैं इस बारादरी के अंदर मुगल काल की हसीन यादों को ताजा करने के लिए और इसका सट्रक्चर देखने के लिए।
रोशनारा बाग की बारादरी में हर बारादरी की तरह बाहर द्वार हैं , चारों दिशाओं में तीन-तीन। यहां मौजूद चित्रकारी में आपको सजावटी कला के दर्शन होते हैं। चित्रकारी में मौजूद फूल, पेड़ों और पत्तियों से आप किसी खास पेड़ या पौधे का पता नहीं लगा सकते। रोशनारा बाग का निर्माण खुद बेगम रोशन आरा ने ही कराया था। देखने में, यह बारादरी 1 मंजिल की मालूम होती है मगर इसके चारों कोनों पर मौजूद कमरे दो मंजिला है। यूं तो पूरी बारादरी के ऊपर लाल पत्थर की छत है मगर शहजादी रोशनआरा खुले आसमान के नीचे है क्योंकि वह ऐसे ही सोना चाहती थी।बारादरी के एक कॉर्नर में आज भी उस समय का कुआं है। कुएं के ऊपर लोहे का जाला लगाया गया है और कुँए को आज के समय में बंद कर दिया गया है। उस वक्त इस कुएं के पानी का इस्तेमाल पीने के साथ-साथ बारादरी के चारों और बने हौजो के लिए भी किया जाता था इन हौजो के अंदर पानी नहरों के जरिए आता था।महल से सटी हुई तीन नहरें भी इस परिसर में मौजूद हैं।
54 वर्ष की आयु में रोशन आरा की मृत्यु हो गई थी। रोशनाआरा बाग में ही शहजादी रोशनआरा को एक बारादरी में सन 1671 में दफनाया गया। कहा जाता है रोशनआरा बहुत ही खुले विचारों वाली शहजादी थी। मैं आप लोगों को बता दूं कि मुगल काल में मुगल शहजादियों को कुंवारी रहने का नियम था और उन्हें प्यार करने की भी इजाजत नहीं थी।जिसके चलते शहजादी किसी के साथ भी विवाह नहीं कर सकती थी और ना ही प्रेम कर सकती थी। लेकिन पिता के बीमार हो जाने के बाद और भाई औरंगजेब के गद्दी पर बैठ जाने के बाद शहजादी रोशनआरा को बहुत छूट मिल गई थी और वह इसी के चलते किसी से प्यार कर बैठती हैं जिसकी खबर औरंगजेब को लग जाती है और एक दिन औरंगजेब शहजादी रोशनारा को दरबार में बुलाकर उनको उसकी गलती के लिए सजा देता है। कहा जाता है कि वह शहज़ादी की इस गलती के लिए रोशनआरा को जहर का प्याला पिला देते हैं जिससे शहजादी रोशनआरा की मृत्यु हो जाती है और रोशनआरा को उन्हीं की बारादरी में लाकर दो गज जमीन में खुले आसमान के नीचे दफ़्ना दिया जाता है।

Roshan Ara was very ambitious lady and she knew if Aurangzeb comes to power, she would also become powerful and gain a lot of "freedom". And it did indeed happen. She used her power to amass a lot of wealth and also had a lot of lovers, although she followed the Mughal norm of not marrying. Aurangzeb banished her after he came to know about this. It's also said he poisoned her which gave her a tormenting and agonising pain in her last days.

Roshan ara saved Aurangzeb from the murder plans of Shah Jahan and it is a long story. But the interesting part is that it was made by Lutufullah Mohandas Lahori and full description is there in the diwan poetry of his son Khairullah Mohandas and it's original plans. During period the building has gone through various periods including a club for the ladies in British times. A comment cannot include more.
