The Gimp crew should take a close look on the Blender app story. After a major UI make over, the app became a succes. The Gimp crew should consider doing the same ...
GIMPs UI is exactly why I only used it when I had no other options ages ago. Sure it's really powerful, but it's UI has always been extremely over stimulating.
they also should ship it twice if they don't want to abandon their "GIMP" name. the second with a different name. i see a lot of ppl don't using it because of its name and if they got to try it out anyways they where overwhelmend/stimulated with the UI and gave up. same with me, used photoshop for years, affinity photo was my best bet on Windows. i donate to software, but GIMP ain't one of 'em as long they don't announce that they gonna make a big improvement as affinity photo etc. but as I know GIMP isn't not designed to compete with such editors.
I'm so used to pre-3.0 Gimp being a destructive-editing scriptable power tool. The more interactive workflows I always used other programs for. It'll be a major shift to start using these new features.
I gave up on gimp many years ago, when i discovered Krita, krita is my default open source image editor that i use for my projects on linux. In windows, affinity 2 redefines fast for anyone working in 2d image manipulations. PS is a joke compared to it, a slug compared to Af, and Gimp is slow on big images on ANY type of hardware!
Blur Gallery runs okay on igpu. So does Camera Raw. Some features are GPU memory bound but other than that, a dgpu isn't mandatory. Please do correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been using Photoshop on a Skylake CPU with igpu on a daily basis. Thanks for the video.
So GIMP 3.0 is not applying multi-core or GPU support? GPU support might be super complex, but running on single-core is a very hard sell these days! Point in question at 3:35 Any recommendations for GIMP alternatives that support multi-core and has better UI / more user-friendly flow?
FYI- GIMP has had on-canvas, real-time "Liquify", superior to Photoshop's for the last 8 or so years. It's called the "Warp Transform" tool (Hotkey W). It works with regular brush hotkeys, and you can re-size the brush, change the warp type, and even the preview quality for slower machines. Nice video showcase, otherwise. Have fun! :D
The biggest problem with gimp is they made us wait for 10 YEARS for simple features like adjustment layers, they are just too slow. I d rather use photopea or pay for Photoshop
That is not how this works. gimp is a project. If there is no one pushing an implementation or the need for such features, then it will takes for ever. But, one could participate and/or contribute, be it just with the provision of ideas.
Using Adobe photoshop has become pointless. For advanced techniques using AI, photoshop is inefficient, obsolete right out of the box. It has no chance to catch up with tools like COMFYUI or FORGE. And for other editing like curves, layers, erasing, color filters... Photopea running in a web browser is sufficient.
GIMP still has the ugliest icon and UI design-its icons hurt my eyes. No graphic designer would ever use it with such an unattractive interface. I’d prefer Photopea; it may have fewer features, but it looks much better.

@@whyismynametaken123 agreed, I have it installed but don't use it as too much, it needs simplification

@KreuzSync That's why I shifted to Affinity photo and now I am very comfortable and happy.
Exactly. Gimp is good software but that UI is a horrid spawn of a satan.
NEVER buy Adobe. GIMP is amazing. Thank you GIMP developers.
As someone said in the internet, we are waiting for the Blender 2.8 moment of GIMP.
For me the issue is when a batch of tools disappears, and no matter what you cant f'king get it back.
Or it becomes undocked and wont go back on
On the free program side, KRITA (with AI plugin) + PHOTOPEA closes the gap to Photoshop for me. Not GIMP.
Krita is awesome!

what cpu you had used in this video ?
I need this video. I use GIMP 2.10 every other day. Okay, I found 3.0 is in Debian's Sid repository.
Richard Ayoade is that you?
What did you use to make the text design in your Thumbnail?
How to create this text ("GIMP3 VS Photoshop") (used in thumbnail of this video,) using GIMP?
👋 hi

Yes, true. I bought Affinity suite in Black Friday and got rid of Gimp. I am satisfied.

hi, you would review cutting edge computer components and now your working with a entry l computer lol blessing merry Christmas
i hope gimp get the best comfyui plugins like krita.
I'd rather use Photopea than GIMP for Photoshop replacement.

Sound is useless.
I'm impressed... somehow they've been able to maintain a crappy interface decades later... 🙃
Release date 2038 😂

That's why I shifted to Affinity photo. Affinity photo is the best alternative of Photoshop.
