Where was you yesterday when I needed you lol . I came in the shop looking for a rod and the helper there knew very little about what poles was what. I was looking to spend money but didn't know what was good wanted to buy a sv diawa with a rod set up. Maybe next time I come in we can take some time to get me set up
Steez ags 6’9” universal light is my go-to top water rod. Love it for popping baits and still great at walking baits. Bigger top water walking baits I use the madbull
I’m so glad y doing these videos and I love Shimano ( never owned a Megabass). Would the Expride 6’10” M work well for top water? I use it for Jerkbaits ( vision 110’s ) and some DT series 6-8-10
Ok, help me out here: I use a Cashion extra fast for topwater, it's super crisp, feels great. But recommended topwater rods are Mod Fast or parabolic. What am I missing?
Doug, when using topwater baits with treble hooks we prefer to use a soft tip/more parabolic bend in order to keep the fish pinned.. the problem with treble hooks is that they are very sharp which may cause you to lose fish due to ripping their lips open or creating a hole created by the hook if the rod is too stiff. It is important to allow the rod to fight the fish and wear it out.
@@Americanlegacyfishing I'm glad you covered lure rating relative to what these topwater rods can handle. I recently purchased a 6' 10" medium Expride B from you guys and due to lure rating, never exceeded the 3/4 oz lure rating. What's the largest topwater you'd throw on this rod?

Madbull is great for larger walking baits
I would add the same Dobyn’s 705CB in the Fury series to the list of rods under $150. Love mine for a Gunfish 115 or Kicknocker.
i appreciate these videos alot very informative on the choices of rods
The one-ten special in the levante and orochi lines are great too.
My favorite jerkbait rod, Dobyns Champion XP 705CB 👍👍👍
I’m surprised that newer Intenza hasn’t taken off , you’ve got me 🤔 thinking 👍
Thank you. This helps.
Thanks for the video

The Expride 6'10" Medium would be a phenomenal rod for topwater.. the majority of our employees use that rod and love the action and feel!
You guys need to look into Falcon Rods. They have a 6’10 MH MF that I think would be perfect for Topwater!
Another great options for sure!
Thanks!!!

Hard to beat the short handle on the Dobyns DC 635CB especially when fishing from the bank.
Most definitely! Nothing like having a shorter handle that allows you to work the bait effortlessly!
Is the dobyns champion 705cb the glass version or the graphite...?
Its the graphite version that he is talking about here.
I use the graphite too. Lighter.
Graphite!
Imx pro 847C CBR.
That Champion is a glass rod, correct? Any way you can tell me the weight on that thing? Appreciate it!
Pretty sure he's talking about the graphite version. Gary Dobyns isn't a huge fan of glass rods even though they make some very good ones.
@@mhkangler Ahh, ok thanks
The graphite version! The glass rod in that lineup seems to be a bit too soft and the graphite version fits the bill perfectly.
I’ll take the Expride 6’10M for jerkbait and Topwater. The 705cb is too soft for me
the expride 6'10" Medium is one hell of a rod!
