  • I spied this large Nordhavn 62 yacht down in Belfast harbour marina yesterday. I decided it looked so good and different that it deserved a video of its own.
The Nordhavn 62 has been described by experts as “the finest oceangoing, luxury yacht ever produced under 70 feet.”
Capable of cruising non-stop in excess of 3,000 nautical miles at 9 knots, it is a vessel designed to take her owners around the world in comfort, style and safety. These yachts an sell second hand for anywhere between £650, 000 and $1million.
    Specs
    LOA: 62’ 8” / 19.10 M
    LWL: 55’ 6” / 16.92 M
    BEAM: 19′ 4″ / 5.89 M
    DRAFT: 6’5” / 1.96 M
    DISPL.: 155,000 lbs. / 70.31 MT
    FUEL CAPACITY: 2,652 gals. / 10,039 L
    WATER CAPACITY: 525 gals. / 1,987 L
Nordhavn is a trade name of a line of ocean-going trawler-styled motor yachts designed and produced by Pacific Asian Enterprises, Inc. (PAE) of Dana Point, California. Vessels range from 41 to 120 feet (12 to 37 m) in length. They are often able to cover thousands of miles on a single load of diesel fuel, and many have made long ocean passages. Most Nordhavn vessels have a raised forward pilothouse - separate from the main salon and galley - or an aft deckhouse with the pilothouse raised on a second level above the salon. The majority of Nordhavn vessels have standing headroom in the engine room.

I commissioned Andromeda for Nordhavn back in 2004. She cruised the US and the Bahamas for a few years before being purchased and shipped to the Med. Saw her again a few years ago in Corfu where she was looking a little sad. She’s a Nordhavn 62 hull number 27, probably the most iconic Nordhavn ever built.
The name on the transom was hand painted by Kelly from Overboard Art in Tampa. She used real gold leaf and when I saw the boat in Corfu, the name still looked great. I hope they kept it !!

Hi James! Great to hear from you. I love it, when folk like yourself fill in the back story of some of the widely travelled boats I have filmed down in Belfast Harbour marina! I don't pretend to know anything about any of the boats I video. But that doesn't stop me from admiring from afar. Even as a landlubber I can even manage to pick out a boat of character like the Andromeda. I must admit that maybe I harbour some sort of romantic view of the lifestyle pursued by the men of the sea, who sail these vessels. However I do realize that it is not all fun and games. It is serious hard work and probably financially crippling at times. Then again that's the price you must be willing to pay doing something you are passionate about. I saw the Andromeda quite recently down in the marina again. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills of Northern Ireland.

I know very little about anything that floats Maikel but even I knew this was a top class yacht the moment I spotted it. Best wishes from Belfast Northern Ireland

The shiny thing on the deck is the davit (crane) it’s used to lift the tender (small boat) on and off the deck 🍻

Hey JMS. Many thanks for that. Not being a sailor I haven't a clue about any kind of boat. I always need help. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills of Northern Ireland.

Brilliant Joe. I always love to know where folks are. I 'talk' to quite a few folks from Canada/Vancouver Island/America. A number of them have Belfast ancestry and a number are more recent expats.

Love to, may be a few yrs...good 62s are hard to find. Will admit, even after 21 years I felt an undercurrent. I have high hopes for Belfast. Titanic Museum was stellar, one of the best I’ve ever been to.
