Diesel injection systems use solenoids to control the timing of the fuel injectors. It was very prevalent in the 90s-mid 2000s in hydraulic electronic unit injectors or HEUI. Caterpillar, International Navistar, and Ford used it extensively. In this system high pressure hydraulic oil acts on a plunger mechanism to squirt the fuel into the engine, the hydraulic oil flow was controlled by a large solenoid. Nowadays most diesels have moved to common rail systems where fuel is pressurized in a tank up to 35,000psi or 250 MPa then a piezoelectric valve controls a simple plunger valve for fuel injection. This is a common rail system.
I have a question about the product in this video. We are looking for something like this but we want it to do the (Forward/Backward) motion aswell as stopping it midway like here (00:56). Can we achieve the midway stop by leading and holding a certain amount of voltage to the device so it pushes something away and stays there?
Yes that is certainly possible with the super stroke solenoid. As this is not a true proportional solenoid, other factors come into play, such as the weight of the load, etc., but what you're referencing can be done with this solenoid. If you'd like to discuss this further with one of our engineers, feel free to shoot an email over to info@geeplus.biz and an engineer will contact you at your convenience. Thank you.
I am looking into actuators to open a tray, similar to how a CD or DVD drive would open the tray to insert the disk. Can this solenoid stay extended for any period of time? I mean, can the solenoid extend to open a tray (and stay extended) until a sample is loaded, and then retract (closing the tray) via the push of a button (say, powered via an Arduino)? 🤔
Hello, Does this solenoid continue to stroke, Or could it be controlled with a gain +/- knob and have the ability to ease onto the load and return to 0 at a turn of the knob?
Fantastic product! I like the low noise characteristic and it's just what I need in my project. Can the speed be controlled? If can, what's the maximum speed it can go? Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the comment Kevin! The super stroke solenoid in the video works just like any other solenoid, in that the more power you supply to the coil, the faster the responses time will be, BUT the louder the impact. If you visit our Linear Solenoids Product Page at www.geeplus.biz/linear_solenoids.htm, you can download datasheets for all of our actuators, which include response time graphs. (Here's an example of a Super Stroke Solenoid data sheet: www.geeplus.biz/FTPROOT/Super_Stroke_solenoid_M380SS.pdf) Or if you have a specific requirement, feel free to contact one of our reps via our contact page: www.geeplus.biz/contact.htm or just shoot an email over to Info@Geeplus.biz.
Are you able to manufacture a custom super stroke solenoid which has a stroke longer than 35mm(The current longest stroke you have amount all your lineups) Looking for either/both a solenoid capable of high speed extension with a decent size and load rating at max stroke (5kgs or higher)
Hi Wayne, this could be possible depending on a few factors: such as the duty cycle, voltage and force required. Also dependent on quantity, which would dictate whether or not customization would be financially feasible.
@@geeplus7017 Currently considering these solenoids for a custom project which has little to no data backing it so I am very much in the prototyping stage. As such, quantities would be 1 or maybe 2. On the contrary, what is the cost of a M380SS-XXv superstroke per unit and a 380-L per unit? Amongst the solenoids you offer, what would you recommend for my application (air piston pushing atm air through a cylinder, based on some airsoft technologies) Looking to adapt your solenoids to have an AEG system
@@geeplus7017 It would be viable to have a solenoid that runs on a 100% duty cycle to imitate the properties of how the force from a compression spring would be like. Can you explain why the spring doesn't shoot the rod forward at full speed? I'm hoping to use something like this on a remote controlled relay that will automatically strike an old style bell, but to be able to do that, I need something that will hit it hard enough. I've tried a small 5v solenoid and it's just too small and the spring doesn't produce enough of a thud to make a good sound on the bell. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The Super Stroke solenoid is a "pull" type of actuator, so the spring serves to slow the rod down to a speed semi-proportional to the current. A latching type of solenoid may work well for your application--this type of solenoid is locked in place by a permanent magnet, and release upon introduction of a current. Very easy and simple way to get a basic low noise and very low impact linear long stroke actuator. Easy to drive as well.

Yes it has the power to do so, it all depends on the application and how long the required stroke would be.
