Haha! Yeah I can see why people do them, but I prefer to keep mine stock, they've never been a problem for me. Bigger brakes just means more opportunity to lock up IMO.
Rob G, I will add a big brake kit in the future for track day purposes, but you are correct. Stock brakes and rotors are perfect for the most part, especially if you drive normally.
Great video, use a plastic syringe to suck out the old brake fluid first then top up with new fluid prior to starting the bleeding, should save you contaminating the new fluid with the old :) You can use red rubber grease on the slide pins too which is the normal cause of a sticking caliper.
My na has sat over the winter months and it needs the brakes looking at. Brilliant timing Rob. Thats for an easy to understand step by step guide to an essential job for the car. Might have a go myself? And save a few pounds in labour costs at the garage! Always look forward to your next clip.☺
Just got done doing this fair fucking warning when you put pressure back into the breaks make sure your car is on cause I literally blew my break line up and spent another 3 hours fixing that bullshit
Thanks for the excellent video! I didn't know about the adjuster screw, never saw anything like that before. So THAT's why I couldn't collapse the cylinder! lol I just put it back together, will try again tomorrow.
Before backing off rear brakes - *HANDBRAKE OFF!!!* Or you'll strip the adjuster socket pin. Also look out for this popping out with the cover. The M/W pins are easier to fit with the caliper over them. This will redcue the likelihood of the opposite pin pinging off.
I think Jass do a similar set but mine are just generic ones from MX5parts. They're decent quality though. Only hassle is trying to change gear when the car has been standing out in the sun :)
It is the Mazda Miata MX5 Enthusiast's Workshop Manual by Rod Grainger. I can thoroughly recommend it, everything is well explained and easy to understand
Hi Rob really useful background! Thanks! I will be glad to refer to this. I finally got my act together to make a few simple vids about my 2009 NC Facelift - the next ones will be a bit more specific... Rob G Thanks! I discovered a new detailing trick: spray wax while not yet dry from a thorough wash - no unsightly water spots and a beautiful gloss finish! All the best, Rob
Seven minutes in, and I am glad that no one is overenthusiastic about upgrades. This video will help me quite a lot when I change my brakes on my NB.

Yes! Go for it! It's not a difficult job at all if you just take it step by step and have some good tools.

Very helpful video indeed. how much breake fluid is needed for a complete change?

Turn the steering to full lock when working on front brakes for better access 😀

Have a fewmore in the pipeline, just need to find the time to film them!
At the end is that a Jass Performance gearknob and handbrake handle? I've ordered one in chrome for mine haha
