Ezekiel 40-48 sounds the death knell of amill- interpretations of Scripture. God's spoke these 9 chapters as an excellent outline of the Millennial days when Christ will sit on his glorious throne, David and the believing nation of Israel is resurrected, the tribes have the land allotments, the mountain of the Lord becomes the highest place in the world, the river of life explodes out of the throne to revive the Mediterranean and the dead seas, and the sacrifices outlined in Ezekiel (not in Mosaic practice) will make the Temple of the Lord the Long Horns Steak House of the Millennium! Jesus removed sin for our salvation, and world redemption, but the theocratic context of the nation of Israel will require those who are not in resurrected bodies to have ritual purification and fellowship offerings, and Daniel tells us how long after the tribulation this will take to set up!

Why do these dispensensationalists constantly harp about reading the Bible "literally", and then claim that the Old Testament references to the Kingdom - all of which say the kingdom is FOREVER - are actually referring to a Kingdom that lasts only 1000 years?

It isn't that Jesus Christ merely removed the NECESSITY of sacrifices. It's that Jesus Christ eliminated them entirely, they are now an abomination. Ezekiel 40-46 never once states that this temple will be built in a millennial time. It is a blueprint for the temple that God wanted the children of Israel to build in Ezekiel's day. Ezekeil 43:10 says "Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern." The point in showing Ezekiel this blueprint was for Israel to see their wickedness that had caused God to scatter them among the nations. God wanted them to build this temple when they came back to the land. At the very least, God wanted to show them the temple HE intended to have.
The very last thing we should do is assume this temple will be built in the post-cross era. It's entirely begging the question and an abomination.

Yes, the exiles built the 2nd temple after Ezekiel saw his vision. It was this temple that Ezekiel had in mind.

    • @Bruce_Peters
      @Bruce_Peters 7 років тому +3

It certainly could be that temple, and there is no way to prove that it wasn't. Conversely there is no way to back up (Biblically) that this is a future temple built during a so-called "millennial reign of Christ", especially when the New Testament explicitly states, over and over, that Christ's death eliminated the need for a temple building, that the buildings were shadows and types of the REAL temple...Jesus:
      Heb 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
What part of "greater and more perfect" do these dispies NOT GET?????
What part of "not made with hands" do dispies NOT UNDERSTAND????
Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
This verse explicitly states that Jesus Christ is RIGHT NOW in heaven itself, which is the true...and the temple building was nothing more than a FIGURE.....again....WHAT DO DISPIES NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS CLEAR EXPLICIT LANGUAGE???????????

The temple of Ezekiel was the temple built by the exiles when they returned to Babylon. It is stated in Ezek. 43:18-19 that Ezekiel himself would be the first to offer sacrifices on that altar on the day that altar is built. Ezekiel was only alive at the initial construction of the second temple and that leaves us with no other temple that would fit the Scripture.

When the Feasts are laid out in the OT there is this KEY verse that give us our answer as to WHY animal sacrifices:
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance ***FOREVER*** Exodus 12:14
The sacrificial feast is a memorial, its ***FOREVER***
And its the same in Lev 23:41 for the feast of tabernacles, its ****FOREVER****
There is still death in the Millennial reign so animals will still be sacrificed on the feast days as laid out in Ezekiel. There will be far less death, but it does not go away until the NHNE. Then there will be feast days with no sacrifice because NO DEATH
You can't kill an animal if there is no more death, and there is no more death in the New Heavens and Earth. But the feasts will be kept in Israel FOREVER as a memorial to Christ.

We will have Christ himself who will be on earth with us still bearing the nail prints from the cross. This isn't reminder enough!!?? Hmmm...I'm a huge J. Vernon fan but this sure doesn't sound right. He makes the point that all sacrifice BEFORE Christ points TO Christ but then makes the case for animal sacrifice in the millennial kingdom as remembrance or memorial. Why in the Sam Hill would we need to be reminded of animal sacrifice? We are reminded of Christ's sacrifice on an active basis in the millennium because HE IS THERE with us! Re-focusing on animal sacrifice seems like it minimizes Christ's sacrifice and, so, would seem to be an abomination.
Anyway, God took no joy in sacrifice as Samuel tells us from WAY back at the time of the first king of Israel (Saul):
“Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the LORD?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to listen than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel 15:22)
Also, if this is the millennial temple then who is the prince? Sounds an awful lot like a human political leader and certainly not like Christ.
Christ is clearly the Shepard in Ezekial's Ch. 34, 36 and etc. A huge part of Israel's apostasy beginning with Solomon was that the leaders (kings) were themselves worshiping idols and leading the people away. The active involvement of the prince in Ezekial's vision at the temple sounds like a way to keep that from happening again.
My small mind landed on that this sounds like what Zerubbabel's/Herod's temple was supposed to have been after the return from Babylon but that those returning didn't keep to God's instruction. I see many of you feel the same. I'm gonna stick with that until someone shows me some Scripture I'm missing.
Bottom line is that my whole focus will ever be on the horrible, perfect and ULTIMATE sacrifice made by our Lord...a sacrifice that I myself made necessary.
"When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit (Jn 19:30)."
    It is finished....

@Steve Wright Jesus does say that until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or tittle would pass away from the Law until all was accomplished. What we must understand today is that the sacrificial system, the priesthood, the temple, and many other "jots and tittles" have passed away from their usage today. This tells us that the Law has changed and we are no longer to follow the Law of Moses but a new Law in Christ. Hebrews 7:12 states "For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also."

@Steve Wright The kingdom of God no longer has a location. When speaking about Jerusalem and its centralized worship, the writer of Hebrews says these words, "for here we do not have a lasting city..." (Heb. 13:14) Also, Paul speaks about two Jerusalem's in Galatians 4, one above and the one on earth. He clarifies on who belongs to each, those of the flesh are in slavery in the earthly Jerusalem and those of the Spirit are free in a heavenly Jerusalem. (Gal. 4:22-31) Lastly, Jesus himself points out in John 4 that no earthly kingdom would exist. He says, "an hour is coming when neither in this mountain (i.e. Gerazim) nor in Jerusalem shall you worship the Father...but an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth." (John 4:21,23) So then, if worship is not foreseen to be in Jerusalem then why would Jesus reign from that place?

The main accusation against non dispensationalism is that we have to read our ideas into the text. Even if there is a millennium, if you think animal sacrifices will take place, you have to read into it, in order to find a reason why. So you come up with the idea its a replacement for the Lord's Supper. Unless you can show me scripture that shows that, you have read something into the text, to make it fit into your theology.
And it means you have to take a low view of the Lord's Supper, and presuppose that is only a memorial amd symbolic, and not a gift from Christ as a means of grace.

A nice sincere preacher, but animal sacrifice just for a memorial? I don't think so (with respects). Even the Scripture, when referring to Ezekiel's Temple, says these sacrifices are for sin (Ezekiel 43:19, 44:29, 45:17) - "a sin offering," "to make reconciliation for the house of Israel." Also Ezekiel 45:23 - "a bullock for a sin offering" - not just a memorial. The Lord has no pleasure in burnt offerings, but they were necessary for sin until Christ came. But not for a memorial.
I wonder if the Ezekiel Temple is set up BEFORE the Millennium, when God reconnects with the Jews, and He has to meet them where He left off, in the Law, when they were blinded for our sake? Then they receive Christ, the true Atonement ("Where did you get those wounds in your hands and feet?").
Then the antichrist ("the prince that is to come" in Daniel 9:27) stops the daily sacrifice in the middle of the 70th week, and thereafter there is no more need for animal sacrifice in the Millennium - for "they shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain."

Ezekiel's temple is said to be inaugurated by Ezekiel himself (Ezek. 43:18-19) and built by those who would see Ezekiel write out the temple design right before there eyes (Ezek. 43:10-11). This could only be referring to the second temple which was built by the exiles that returned from Babylon in 536 BC.
The temple that is mentioned in Dan. 9 also is clearly stated to be the second temple. The beginning of that chapter has Daniel weeping over the absence of the 1st temple and anticipates the fulfillment of Jeremiah's words that after 70 years of exile in Babylon, the temple would be rebuilt. After his prayer, the angel Gabriel comes to give him a prophecy that anticipates the coming temple and rebuilding of Jerusalem along with a timeline that lasts only 490 years until the coming desolations and wars that would finally end that temple. That timeline is told to Daniel to begin at the "issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem". This has a number of possible starting points but all of them begin this timeline in the 6th or 5th century BC which means that the end of this prophecy must conclude 490 years later in either the 1st century BC or 1st century AD. Therefore, this prophecy is not talking about our future today.

This preacher said to spiritualize the Bible is the most damnable thing that has come to the church... But Jesus came to do exactly that.
Jesus said we are Spirit beings not us this world if we are born of God.
Jesus made spiritual what did pertain to the physical.
Jesus said that His blood was real drink and His flesh is real food.

This perspective does violence to the book Hebrews and our salvation. You can believe this and not be a heretic but it's starting you down the path to heresy.
Christ died once for all to put an end to sacrace forever. Those sacrifices looked forward to the reality of christ and now that that full reality has come there is never again a need for animal sacrace, for in them is the memory of sin (Hebrews 10:3) the need for a memory of sin is one of the things Christ's death abolished.
This dude is spouting bad theology. Heck of a preaching voice though lol

Oh good grief he is not saying there is a temple in the New Heavens and New Earth, he is saying there is a temple in the Millennial reign BEFORE the NHNE. The Millennial reign is NOT the NHNE. Satan is released at the end of the Millennial reign and deceives many into a rebellion and then is cast into the lake of fire forever. READ Revelation 20, its says this word for word.

Ezekiel 45 9, "princes", not singular not the Messiah. The temple is New Jerusalem which comes from heaven (Rev 21, Isaiah 65). God is showing Ezekiel the temple as it was back then (45 before second temple time) but the one in heaven in order for him to copy it.
We know from Hebrews 8 5 that Moses also copied the tabernacle and all the ceremonial instruments from what he saw was in heaven.

Is it possible that this is a conditional temple, and a temple vision designed for them to be ashamed of their iniquities? To me this would make a lot of sense, vs a millennial temple and sacrifices after the coming of Christ.
Ezekiel 43:10-11 (ESV): “As for you, son of man, describe to the house of Israel the temple, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and they shall measure the plan. 11 And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the temple, its arrangement, its exits and its entrances, that is, its whole design; and make known to them as well all its statutes and its whole design and all its laws, and write it down in their sight, so that they may observe all its laws and all its statutes and carry them out."

Not until the cross, not until the Messiah, but FOREVER Israel will keep these Holy convocations. That is what GOD decreed.
