Please understand that when it comes to maintaining African hair in China, it's the hardest thing ever. Living there it took years to find products and stylists to take care of our hair. These stylists are actually other Africans living there. Even the African guys cut each other hair because the barbershops just don't know how to do right. So before we found a solution we wore our hair like yiyi and wore wigs over it. Currently yiyi is alone( likely only African in that area) and new to that place, not everyone knows how to take care of there own hair. Most of us just go to a salon or have a female relative or friend do it for you back home. Natural hair is high maintenance. Hopefully with her sister going there her hair needs and other needs unique to her as an African woman will be met. The people in this video were just illiterately trying to help though. I doubt they had ill intentions.

Xie Shuai is an attentive and concerned husband. Yiyi complained about an itchy scalp and he had his friends help to address her problem. They lamented that local hairdressers would not know how to braid her hair after washing. It also took the three ladies half an hour to unbraid Yiyi's hair. (I also follow Rose, a Ugandan lady married to Wu. They live in Zhejiang Province. Rose shaved her head to solve this problem and she looks good bald)
When braids are cut, they should always be cut a ways down from where the real hair has stretched into the weave because shrinkage is real!! You could end up cutting new hair growth stands too. I'm not sure what the situation was about wigs but maybe they all agreed and planned it for modeling a certain brand, maybe it was an idea of some kind to promote the wigs. Many said about the ordeal looking awkward but his wife and her sister are old enough to say no if they didn't want to be a part of the deal. I hope she continues to keep happy and presentable as she seems to try to do so that she and her husband are pleased.
I am shocked that her lovely long hair was cropped. Even though her scalp was itching, let’s find a better solution and no wigs. Lawu in the other channel used to put on wig which looks weird on her and her sister Felista looked extremely comical with her very short slick wig when she traveled back to Tanzania.
