Doctor Sleep, the long-awaited The Shining sequel from author Stephen King and director Mike Flanagan, is a unique experiment in the history of horror movies. The Stanley Kubrick Shining adaptation looms large over the production, the legendary scary movie that has spawned countless the Shining theories from folks desperate to understand the Shining ending and see the Shining explained.
Beyond Room 237, the Stephen King Shining story has been a horror staple since the ‘80s, spawning dozens of The Shining theories as fans pore over every The Shining clip, The Shining scene and The Shining trailer for clues to the vision of the Stanley Kubrick Shining. Now, with the new Doctor Sleep movie, the question on everyone’s mind from the first Doctor Sleep trailer was: Would it follow The Shining movie, or The Shining book? As Doctor Sleep explained, it seems to be a hybrid of both, a melding of Ewan McGregor and Jack Nicholson, of Stanley Kubrick and Stephen King, of 1980 and 2019.

Right, one of the best films ever made. This guy is just reading a script he probably hasn't even seen it.
Barry Lyndon is glacially paced and 185 min long. It's also beautiful to look at, but not many were up for the ride.

I am really excited for the movie Dr Sleep. I always mentally separate the movie and the book The Shining but I'm hoping Dr. Sleep is more true to it's source. The movie The Shining is incredible in it's own way but it would be nice to have a truer adaptation for it's sequel

Just watched doctor sleep and I definitely loved it, the music was spectacular adding to the story.

I've heard the date was September 30th from numerous sources. It's October 30th in the Kubrick film having them alone in the Overlook beginning on Halloween.
Doctor sleep seriously made me like the shining movie way more than i used to. Gives it more context to.

I'm reading the book for the first time now. Wanted to see the original source material. Curious to see how Doctor Sleep makes sense of it. Cant be a strict book sequel since the trailer seemed to show the twins.

So I've always been a little confused, and haven't seen the movie for a long time. Why is there an intimidating baby face on the cover for the dvd?

I would love to see a new *REAL* film about the shinning. With the real story, with a jack including his character and a strong Wendy how she was written in the book.
A strong Wendy is just absurd. She would just be murdered instantly.

Stanley always wanted the most realistic examples of life on his films , except Strangelove. The real to life horrors that this made-up family endured is more in common with real life family murders. Never known any ghost that actually kill people. Humans do.

I think the novel Doctor Sleep is better then The Shining
They should of done the book and the mini series which is closer to the book

Great video! But ugh can we please stop propagating this "Shelley Duvall was tortured" myth. She talks about her experience a lot differently that the clickbait narrative most people believe is true these days.
I’ve never seen anything directed by Flannigan that I didn’t like. So it will be a good film, probably not as good as The Shining. He has big shoes to fill. And this will be a movie made for fans.

The book of The Shining and Doctor Sleep will always be better. I didn't
like how they did Doctor Sleep with the movie. They should of done Doctor
Sleep with the book and mini series. Not the movie which even though it's
an icon movie, will never be as good as the book. Too many changes.
