You were talking about the threads that were stamped vice actually turned on the post of the topper. Would it be possible to find the correct tap and dye set and go over the threads to ensure best threading?

You can use a bolt with the same threads as the bottle stopper. I run a nut onto the bolt and secure it to the head. Then tighten the bolt into the wood. That way you're not putting the bottle stopper part way into the wood and getting stuck. using the bolt head you can remove the bolt and clean out the wood.
