It's been almost 4 years since I had my one and only appointment with GIDS (after waiting for over 3 years for my first initial appointment, I was told that because I was almost 18 that they would just refer me to the adult services, so I had to do more waiting and actually ended up going private using PIP (my disability benefits) to fund it - that money should be going to my disabilities, but how I saw and continue to see it is that the benefits are useless if I'm not alive), and I haven't regretted anything other than living in the UK (although, there's not much I can do about that).

Exactly. It doesn't make sense. When a kid says "I wanna be X", they don't really even understand what they're saying. Like when I watched "Space Jam" as a kid, suddenly I wanted to be a basketball superstar, but of course I never thought about what that actually entailed because I didn't know and even if I did, I probably wouldn't understand.
I knew I liked the boy at nursery more than friends but at that age I didnt have the language for what that was nor was it a mature attraction that adults have.
