- The new TP-Link Kasa KL125 Color Light is the newest addition to their smart home lineup that includes everything from smart lights, to plugs, switches and even cameras.
In this review I am going to over the setup, look at the functionality that the app offers, test the brightness, color accuracy, speed, and reliability, go over which ecosystems are supported and ultimately conclude whether or not you should buy this or not.
Overall I am very pleased with this light. It’s got a solid app, good compatibility with other ecosystems, and most importantly, it’s bright, accurate, and has excellent colors for its price.

Very nice and easy to understand video! I started with Wemo (junk) several years ago. That didn't last long and switched to Philips Hue. 2 hubs went bad within the first year so I then switched to TP-Link Kasa and couldn't be happier. Price, color and responsiveness are are all without issue. I now have 40+ Kasa devices including bulbs, switches and outlets.

Asking the same question as some others... can this bulb cycle through various colours? There are conflicting responses everywhere online. The first 5 seconds of this video clearly demonstrate a cycling effect. Looking for a more user-friendly option to the govee product/app. Plus, I've had really good experiences with Kasa's other products.

Out of all the smart lights I have the Kasa lights are my favorite. They are easier to setup than the other smart lights. My other smart lights go offline too sometimes. I try to use my Lifx bulb and it says it's offline sometimes. But my Kasa bulbs never go offline. They always work. I like being able to turn on my porch light while I'm doing my grocery shopping. And being able to dim my lights when I go to sleep. No more walking across a dark room and tripping on things to find a light switch. Or being blinded by a lamp on my night stand.
The video helped me to get the light working, good job. No mention of sharing with other household users.
Thank you for this excellent review especially the part about power outages. I just ordered a KL-125 from Amazon. I would like very much to see a comparison between this and the new Wyze color bulbs.

Great coverage of the TPLinkKasa bulb Karlo! I actually use the HS-300 throughout my house for the sense integration! It’s been solid product and definitely worth the $. 100% gold advice. Your ISP’s wifi router IS garbage!

Thanks Luis. You can have it cycle through different colors based on various scenes (in the Kasa app) but it can’t sync to music or video

Good question, after doing so much research, Philips hue is simply the only smart lights/system that works best and has everything needed. It ticks every single box except for the price of them

Yes, just flick the switch like with a normal bulb

If you have guests staying at your place, is there a way for them to control the lights with a guest mode or something?
Guests do tend to make smart homes a bit tricky.
Typically I will have a smart button that can control these devices, so they don’t need to learn any voice commands etc.

Not natively. Needs to be done through homebridge

They are a little difficult to connect for me
I just purchased this light and I have worked to try and connect it for two hours and nothing. My WI-FI is excellent and I even checked with my provider to make sure I was set up to connect this smart device. I even tired connecting using my IPhone and Pixel. All in all, I am highly disappointed and will be returning tomorrow.
I recently changed router and can't get my bulbs reconnected. The bulbs blink but I can't find the to link wifi? Any suggestions?
Did you keep the same name WiFi name and password?
You may have to factory reset the lights

Beware of TP-Link products. If the product fails within the warranty period you will be required to pay for shipping the defective item to them before they will send a replacement.
Because you don't need a separate hub, yes, it's better.
