  • I purchased an Eico 369 so I could do some radio alignments. The Eico 369 is a vacuum tube RF sweep generator. In this video, I evaluate the generator right after I received it from eBay, then perform some recapping and other modifications, and then try it out with the test procedure in the manual. At 8:14 that's a normal pattern for these old tube Generator's. (Except for the noise)

DO you think that the sine gets less pure down low so there will be plenty of harmonics for the higher ranges.

Learned a lot! Would you be able to show a schematic of where you hook up the frequency counter output for the marker. Could you please explain the hookup cable slowly and the reason for the 50 ohm adapter and where to get one.
    Thanks John

Marker shows twice because the sweep up and sweep down isn't symmetrical. Would need a triangular sweep drive for them to show up on top of each other...
Do you show how you actually killed the blanking anywhere... I know you hooked a s switch up to the cathode....but a little more detail. Did you just hook up a switch to ground..
    Thanks

I have this sweep generator and have been troubleshooting for awhile. I finally got the oscillator to run on 3 of the 5 bands. Just for grins, I shorted pin 2 of V3 to kill the blanking. It seems to work. I have not tried it long term though.

@@josephpayne4012 I was looking at the trouble shooting section of the manual. It gave three reasons the blanking circuit would go down. Either R12 or R22 is open or C11 is shorted. I wonder what would be the best way to disable blanking. I'm thinking shorting C11. That would kill the signal to the grid of the 12AX7. Sure it works but what are the ramifications to the rest of the circuit?

I've got a few post war radios to set up. I would like to have seen you set it for 455 kz IF frequency. I wasn't able to read it on the dial.

Why did you switch to a analog scope at the end of the testing?

The marker shows up twice because you have not set the phase adjust pot to overlap the markers, brain box.

I've got that one. Picked it up at a hamfest. If I turn it on it snaps the fuse. Replaced all the caps. Still does. Got bored. It still waiting for me to finish it.

Got unbored. Replaced the plug in with the same type of modern connector. Noticed the copper strap from the special sweep transformer/variable inductor was broke. Fixed that, the old girl started to work. Way out of calibration but otherwise working. Where exactly did you add the switch to prevent blanking? Was it Pin9 of the V4B?
