@@2ChannelListening great comparison, and good background of Mission Cyrus. Mission/Cyrus made some very innovative products back in the early 90s. I still have the Mission Cyrus 782 sealed box speakers. I had the Mission Cyrus 1 original amplifier for a long time, it was very good. I would say a little on the lean side, but fantastic at placement. I would easily be able to identify the singer in the centre and locate each instrument. Regret selling it, but I got a very good price for it. Now I am going full circle as I am looking for a small footprint amplifier for bedroom system, mainly considering Cyrus One, Rega Brio and maybe NAD M10 (but that would be beyond my budget)
Hey Jason, I was the gentleman that has some similar likes with the Unico, Ascend and Zu speakers. A buddy of mine recently got some Zu omens. I haven't got to listen to them yet but he said the Zu's just sounded like music for people that love music. He said his larger room did benefit the Zu's greatly. He used audio research tube amp and audio research tube preamp.Keep me posted on the Zu's when you get the larger room. If you like them you may love them in the bigger room . Thanks
I love the follow up Vio, thank you. Yep, I look forward to hearing all of my current components in that much larger room. The ZU's should settle down a bit. Thanks for checking in.
I will start off by saying, that was a great comparison and I appreciate what you do. Feeling pretty good about my Peachtree Nova 150 at this point, considering I bought it for about half of retail, with an audioquest power cord, and 13 months left on the warranty. I also own somewhat inefficient speakers 85db 6ohm. Looking at getting a pair of Zu DW when they go on sale.

The Music Room (Email Ben) - tmraudio.com/ Stainless Door Stoppers for Damping - amzn.to/2PyrMaK Hey Bill, I've personally owned over 45 pairs of speakers and sampled at least as many. It is very difficult to say what you would like, what you have access to and the crazy inflation on vintage prices. For $1600 or less, you simply cannot beat a very nice pair of ADS L1590's or Acoustic Research AR9ls (or lsi). Nothing in this price range will touch the full range either speaker can provide. I love my Tekton Uruz, but its better at a little smaller venue. Nothing you can buy new from a retail shop will come close to competing at these prices. As a pre .the amount of money spent wasn’t worth the improvement of sound. For the dollar amount peach tree was worth every penny and a far better bang for the bucks. We shouldn’t have to spend $50 k for a nice stereo.
Thank you for the post Chris. You are right about some of the run away pricing - yet I have to take a step back and look at all of the other hobbies where companies thrive on creating perceived scarcity and exclusivity. Nature of the beast.
Great review Jason! The feature that I’ve single-handedly been most interested in with the Cyrus ONE range is that speaker impedance detection (SID). I may be wrong, but SID seems unique, which in itself should be applauded, but it’s great to know that it actually appears to work well! I salute you for covering the SID feature so purposefully 👌 Cyrus have always had a reputation here in the UK for their ‘love it or hate it’ sound signature and that deep chassis. I must admit I’ve always found myself on the ‘hate it’ side because that very deep chassis plus the increase in depth when cables are plugged into the back means it doesn’t always fit into standard equipment racks or into already tight spaces and it’s something all the good folks should be aware of. That said, it’s good to know it sounds great (and better than the Naim 5si 😆). Great work as always 👍
Was I too enthusiastic to throw the 5SI under the bus? Lol - calling it like I hear it. I'm open to demoing a XS3, but I sure ain't paying for one near retail. I appreciate your nice compliments RR. I like the thought process and engineering direction Cyrus is going in, save for the lame remote situation. It's a brand I will revisit in the future when I can score a classic line unit. Thanks again!
@@2ChannelListening haha going by how many used Naim 5si’s are up for sale, I’d say there are others feeling somewhat underwhelmed. It’s a shame that Naim abandoned their initial house sound especially on their more entry level gear. Naim have great pedigree and their previous chassis integrated amps were highly engaging. I currently own an Exposure 3010s2d. For years Exposure and Naim have been mentioned in the same breath, but Exposure go about making their highly enthralling gear (relatively) quietly and ‘til today Exposure have kept to their simple design principle, which is to make equipment that sounds as close to a live performance as possible. Recently Exposure made the XM5 integrated, an entry level half-width chassis design. If you can get your hands on one at a good price I’d recommend checking out the XM5. I’ve not heard it, but I’m confident it will have the same Exposure house sound that my 3010s2d has, but at a friendlier price!
I do not see why they would not match up. The PSB T2 look fairly easy for the Nova150 to drive. The CD6006 is a great mid-range player. You should get great sound from this combo.
Thanks for a great review! Coincidentally these are the 2 that are on top of my list driving Monitor Audio Silver RS6s. In Aus the peach tree is $2500! $999 for the Cyrus One (not HD) on sale. Is it a no brainer?
What are your zu dw 12 ohms? could be the factor here, what are the impedance of the other speakers.? maybe running a resistor inline on the speaker cable on the other speakers might make them sound better with the Cyrus try runing 2.2ohms at 20w

The DAC to me is below average. People must take this hobby with love and care. Just get what sounds good to you, specifications never really matter for the preowned lovers of audio. I am so sorry to say that it's not for me. Just stay with your nova 150 and enjoy. Maybe audition some Topping Audio if I may. I fully understand what you mean John. In the future, I will build up to a higher level dac/integrated combo, going the 2nd hand route (as my second rig). I just picked up a Yamaha CD-S2100 for an absolutely could not pass up price. I'm waiting to borrow a friends Marantz MA11 so I can make a video comparison. If the Yammy does what I hope it does, bye bye ND8006. As for these +/- $1,500 integrated amps, they are wholly fulfilling 90% of the time. The DAC can take things to the next level. An excellent very candid sonic review of the Peachtree Audio 150 vs the Cyrus One HD! I have just purchased a Cyrus ONE integrated amp the entry level model of the 3 Cyrus ONE integrated amplifiers! I have a pair of Elac DBR62 bookshelf speakers that have an efficiency rating of 87db which as you well know makes them somewhat inefficient and sorta of power hungry! There is a Peachtree 150 at "the music room" as we speak with the same colored fax wood grain that yours has! Should I seriously consider the Peachtree Audio 150 over the Cyrus One HD due to its slightly better performance with the lower efficiency Elac DBR62 speakers I have? My only concern is that since the Peachtree Audio 150 integrated amp is used and will only have the 45 day warranty and the Cyrus ONE Integrated amp is an open box 📦 return from a customer with the full 2 year warranty on it! I subscribed to your UA-cam channel and look forward to checking your videos and your newer ones out! You are very detailed and very articulate in your descriptions and don't go over board on analytical hi-fi jargon that way to many audiophile reviewers get caught up in! I'm going to need to make a decision by no later than Tuesday or Wednesday next week on whether I go with the Peachtree Audio 150 over the Cyrus One which does have the cool but small credit card sized remote co tool included with it! I have to say the Peachtree is a really good looking integrated amp but I have a tendency to love utilitarian styled amps like the Adcom GFA-545 which I have one that is dead mint condition but needs to have all the capacitors replaced in it due to it being 32 years old! I also have the Adcom 555-GFP preamp that also needs to have the capacitors replaced in it that is also in dead mint condition! Hope to hear back from you soon! Mac Baker
Well hello there Mr. Baker. I hope to shed a bit of good news and light on your situation. The most important few considerations before pitching your Cyrus, which I take it you really like it. The listening distance you have from your Elacs to your ears? 9ft or less? How about your preferred loudness levels? Mostly light, moderate or Tinnitus inducing? The formulas for working out how much power you need with a bit of headroom can be worked out on this handy calculator: www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-efficiency.htm Go down to the Loudspeaker: Sound pressure and amplifier power section and put in how much power your Cyrus has and your efficiency rating for your Elac, and your listening distance. You get a total approximate max SPL possible. If you need over 100 db, you may need the Peachtree, but I doubt it. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching and subscribing! Cheers sir.
@@2ChannelListening I am sitting about 6 feet from my speakers and my room is about 12 x 10 and I listen to my music moderately loud but when I play my guitar over my blues, blues rock and jazz fusion I will play the amp a little louder! I am actually trading a Denon pma-600ne Integrated amp that is rated at 45 watts into 8 ohms and 70 watts i to 4 ohms, and it drove the Elac DBR62's quite well but you can tell easily that the Elac's are going to really wake up with a 100 watt class D amp with a beefy toroidal transformer like the Cyrus ONE has! I will use the formula you gave me and see what it comes up with! I can't imagine wanting to play at a higher spl level than 100 db's in the room size that my amp and speakers are in! I reached out to Cyrus and asked them what the actual power output would be with the Cyrus One driving a speaker with a 6-ohm impedance and they responded that it was 124 watts! I liked getting that feedback and info direct from Cyrus!
@@2ChannelListening I just used the formula and at 100 watts into each speaker from a distance of 6 ft. The SPL level is 104.01 which is very loud! Inserting 124 watts into each speaker increases the SPL level to 104.94! I don't think i need anymore power than the Cyrus One delivers! If I stick to my gut feeling a d stay with the Cyrus ONE amp what would a great choice be in a separate DAC to add to the Cyrus One since it doesn't have an internal dedicated l DAC! I don't want to spend over $300-$350!
@@macbaker2211 Glad you found the solution to your concern. Regarding a really good budget dac, for $350 brand new, the IFI Zen One Signature is the way I would go. One of the best budget dacs I've listened to. You can add the "nPlayer" app to your phone if you have iPhone and stream from a NAS to it as well. Fantastic work around to spending more for an additional streaming device. Good luck.
@@2ChannelListening I have a Jason I have a Samsung S9+ phone! What is your impressions of Chromecast and is it even worth buying the Chromecast device to add it to one of the inputs on the Cyrus One or would you invest the money for a bluesound node 2i streamer or the $350 for the ifi Zen DAC? I am assuming that the Bluesound Node 2i streamer has a quality DAC built into it! I really appreciate your knowledge and willing to share it with everyone and hope that I'm not bothering you with all of these questions. Mac
Good review. As far is the remote is concerned. I use my amp on the workspace beside my computer so is within easy reach and therefor the lack of a remote is not an issue or a deal breaker for me although it may be for some folk. Did you say $1500 for the Cyrus One HD?....wow. I just paid £679.00 from my local hi-fi dealer which converts to $885.
Wow, for $900, this would be a killer deal, but alas, I did say $1,500; tmraudio.com/components/integrated-amplifiers/cyrus-one-hd-amplifier-dac-new-w-full-warranty/
@@2ChannelListening The Cyrus One HD arrived today. It is very smooth....almost too smooth as some detail is lost. I may send it back (it was on approval) because I feel my old Cyrus Straight Line amp seems to be a bit more detailed although the many varied inputs and the internal DAC are a big advantage. If there is any improvement in sound it is minimal, at least to my ears. As a matter of interest I tried my old Cyrus Commander remote and it works fine for controlling volume/mute/pause, but its no surprise that the function select is not compatible.
@@2ChannelListening I have Monitor Audio Studio 12s on my other system but haven't tried them on the new amp yet. They were a good speaker in their day. I also was gifted a pair of Arcam Muso speakers. That shoud be interesting. At present the amp is hooked up to a pair of Mission 700s in the "man cave". I intend to buy new, mid priced, better bookshelf speakers. Unfortunately my hearing isn't what it used to be so I am a little less critical.
No worries Kevin. I'm not the type to start an argument because someone has a totally different experience from mine, who am I to say otherwise, right. I'm not one of those audiophiles :-)
Hi Paull, I have no experience with either one. If I were to pick one to buy next for demo, I would choose the Audiolab simply based on its shared architecture with Quad products. I would expect a warmer and yet flat British curve from the Audiolab. So many Denon products I've owned have been a little too tilted up for my taste. Yet I say this having never heard the new PMA gear. My taste, take it with a grain of salt.
Only bi-amp. It runs an impedance signal at start up and having two different speakers would confuse the amp, I actually put a different speaker on the left versus right, my 12 ohm ZU's with the 6 ohm Sierra's and it did act a little wonky.
@@2ChannelListening Hey Jason. Ah, gotcha!. Interesting. I had never heard anyone say they had a relationship but I have always had a hunch with PS Audio and TMR being in the same city and Paul talks a lot about their trade in incentives and just kind of put two and two together. Interesting. Thanks!
I listen to vinyl so it don’t matter to me. I end up losing all my remotes anyway. I do like the idea of a smartphone app remote. I can never lose it that way!
It is UGLY!!! It could be the best sounding amplifier on this planet but it is U-G-L-Y !! Hi-fi manufacturers MUST return to build BEAUTIFUL equipment as it was normal in the 70's....this is an UGLY box even without a proper remote.

The formulas for working out how much power you need with a bit of headroom can be worked out on this handy calculator: www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-efficiency.htm
Go down to the Loudspeaker: Sound pressure and amplifier power section and put in how much power your Cyrus has and your efficiency rating for your Elac, and your listening distance.

Great information, thank you David. What nearfield speakers are you using?
@@2ChannelListening I have Monitor Audio Studio 12s on my other system but haven't tried them on the new amp yet. They were a good speaker in their day. I also was gifted a pair of Arcam Muso speakers. That shoud be interesting. At present the amp is hooked up to a pair of Mission 700s in the "man cave". I intend to buy new, mid priced, better bookshelf speakers. Unfortunately my hearing isn't what it used to be so I am a little less critical.
I love your videos! I hope I didn't offend you with my SACD comment!
Hey Kevin, not at all. I don't doubt you, so I don't push it.
@@2ChannelListening I just don't want you to think I'm some internet troll who goes around saying stuff just to upset people. Because that's not me!
No worries Kevin. I'm not the type to start an argument because someone has a totally different experience from mine, who am I to say otherwise, right. I'm not one of those audiophiles :-)
@@2ChannelListening In retrospect I really should have just kept it to myself.
Denon PMA-1600NE or Audiolab 6000A ?
Hi Paull, I have no experience with either one. If I were to pick one to buy next for demo, I would choose the Audiolab simply based on its shared architecture with Quad products. I would expect a warmer and yet flat British curve from the Audiolab. So many Denon products I've owned have been a little too tilted up for my taste. Yet I say this having never heard the new PMA gear. My taste, take it with a grain of salt.
Hope you can get some dedicated 20amp circuits for your new house!
That box was checked, heavier gauge cable, 20 amp wall. I'm very excited to hear the effect of this with my current gear!
I’m really interested to hear what you think of the XTZ edge amplifier. i’m thinking of buying it and i trust your ears! :)
Ahhh, the XTZ wasn't on my radar, but now their 99.25LCR is thanks to you :-)
Can the Cyrus run two sets of speakers or just bi-amp?
Only bi-amp. It runs an impedance signal at start up and having two different speakers would confuse the amp, I actually put a different speaker on the left versus right, my 12 ohm ZU's with the 6 ohm Sierra's and it did act a little wonky.
Nice review, Jason! Can you tell me something, is TMR an offshoot of PS Audio? Do they sell the trade ins that PS Audio gets on their sales?
Hi Sean, I stand corrected on this. TRM is still handling the trade in direct for PS Audio.
Thanks!
The price of an english accent'ed solderer is your remote lol
Okay, that's funny...bloody rubbish.
Step away from the comments section !
No remote, no buy !
I have a feeling we will see more of this migration to smartphone only operation in the future.
I am also put off by that. Strangely enough, they have kept the remote control detector window, which is under the model name, from the ONE series.
@Wolfgang Pöhlmann the $999 (usd) version has a credit card sized remote. I have no idea why they couldn't also add that to the HD version.
The ONE CAST has a remote
I listen to vinyl so it don’t matter to me. I end up losing all my remotes anyway. I do like the idea of a smartphone app remote. I can never lose it that way!
interesting but too long video
Thank you for watching
I disagree Tomas! Jason's review was excellent and very detailed and enlightening! 😉🤙
It is UGLY!!! It could be the best sounding amplifier on this planet but it is U-G-L-Y !! Hi-fi manufacturers MUST return to build BEAUTIFUL equipment as it was normal in the 70's....this is an UGLY box even without a proper remote.
Hence the deserved appreciation for the Peachtree Nova looks. Thanks for watching Margix.
