i believe the longer reload time is to counter act the spamability as well as reward those who are accurate with the last shots in their clip, adding for more clutch moments hitting those last crucial shots.
What you are talking about I would like to coin as “Skill Displacement” (assuming this hasn’t already been used) Outplays are easier but so are perfects. Accuracy for final shot harder but accuracy overall improves. You are welcome (:

I wish there was a voting system! You can have both if you put in a voting system, and 343 can still get their analytics and feedback from the community based on how many votes certain maps and modes get without forcing players to play the same thing over and over again. 343 has an infatuation with forcing players to play their new maps or game modes and that breaks the experience for me. Dredge, chasm, cliffhanger still gives me PTSD, and I'm taking a long break because ranked slayer (FINALLY), for me and my friends, is like 60% behemoth and cliffhanger. I'll die on this hill, but Behemoth is a terrible map and needs to just be a squad battle, fiesta, or snipers map or something. Not in ranked. Cliffhanger makes you feel like you're bouncing on every individual rock and is "meh" imo, and I would vote against it every single time.

@@self-righteousideologue9398 i agree with you. That is likely because of my Halo 5 backround with the magnum, but ye the bandit feels natural to me because of that. I do think in one aspect it’s more difficult, and that’s that it outputs less damage per shot than the BR
I think the difference in reload time is to offset the difference in TTK between the two weapons as well as make every bullet in the 15 round mag matter a lot more. With such a long reload time, you are incentivized to pace your shots and try to be more accurate, and it also somewhat combats that "spamming" issue you touched on within the video.
Love the bandit, great starting weapon and been super fun to use. I would like to see a mix of game modes where some are BR start and some are bandit start, because there's no reason not to have the best of both worlds!
The outplay potential is so significant to me, it didn’t feel like Halo without it for me The gunfights are finally great in the game, finally Halo gunfights feel back
shield being damaged and "plopped" when 1shot still missing :C sliding-into-sprint or sprint-into-reload animations are so unrefined would enhance the game feel so much if this would be adressed
I 100% agree with your statement about the Bandit growing on you. Originally I hated it, but now that I am getting better with it I really appreciate what it is and it feels really good to hit those head shots with it.
Objection!!! The gunfights were already sweaty enough using the BR. - only pros and wannabe pros wanted this added sweat. And I'll counter with ok cool. Create a new ultra sweaty HCS Mode with Boring Rifle Evo starts. ✌🏽
My casual halo buddies were pretty bummed about the br change. We liked to play ranked and now they are lost so they lost interest quick. I hope the population doesn’t die. My friends said. This doesn’t feel like halo. As most of us didn’t care about H5 overall I’m pretty disappointed
VERY VERY recently I’ve noticed that when picking up the bandit evo the bandit evo’s scope model is just not there, so it’s weird when u zoom in with with the scope look even tho it doesn’t have the scope on the gun, am I the only one?

Now.. this shows that tons of new and old weapons HAVE a space in the sandbox. If not for just unique roles ( generalists, specialists ), at least alternate takes by say f.ex DMR esque weapons be it faction based ( light rifle, needle rifle, carbine, dmr, br or alternate config wise ( scoped, alt fire, melee attachments etc ) is only healthy IF its distinct and healthy to avoid dilluting all the weapons roles into blandness. I wish for plasma rifle and repeater to come back, ionized stun effect on the former f.ex. Both a lighter 1st person flamethrower and a heavier 3rd person flamethrower vs Flood/ infection ( wink 343 ), Needle Rifle, Carbinr, Fuel Rod gun, M30 series pump shotgun ehich should an is NOT a Bulldog replacment but a shell by shell loading vs drum loading. Evo is fun for sure but DAM you get killed so insanely fast. It makes the margin for error with positioning and first person to land a bullet so dam sweaty
I would definetly say I am a casual Halo campaign player (played all of the campaigns but never really bothered with multiplayer). Started watching these videos gave it a go, I am loving it and really hooked. Played my first 5 ranked games today, I enjoy it a lot more than the social matches . It is fair to say I'm pretty hooked on it, but I am awful haha. Big thanks for the videos to intrigue and inform.
Accuracy has definitely improved with this, typically with a BR I'll get 45-50% (even worse in swat/tactical slayer since you ALWAYS miss shots since the first one will kill and the other two will miss) Now I get 65-70%. Feels more rewarding.
Let's just say, I play the sandbox on ranked arena. Bandit, not a fan, so I use everything else and usually win. But my Playlists are Husky Raids and Squad Battle

Which you're entitled to an opinion: The issue is that you're incapable of using a weapon and being the best at it instantly, not that it's a bad weapon. You don't just jump into CS2 and think you're going to be a Global Elite. You can't just jump into a boxing ring and think you're going to be Muhammad Ali with no actual knowledge in how to fight. I'd argue this is less of an opinion and more of a justification to why you're preferring Husky Raid and Squad Battle. "Shooters aren't my thing, it's why I chose playlists that aren't really shooter centric".
I feel like the Bandit is the great equalizer. I have been pretty low ranked for many seasons, Gold, low Platinum, but now, I feel I can take on Diamonds and low Onyx players and as a result I am high Platinum threatening Diamond. I always liked to play fast, and aggressively, and I feel like people really crutched the burst fire of the BR to help them with their bad aim, and now if someone has bad aim regardless of rank, they will suffer in ranked for now. Of course, as people get better with the Bandit, the temporary small advantage I feel with it will eventually go away, but for now, I am digging it.
9:50 I think the slow DMR reload is kind of a punishment for spamming your shots mindlessly, especially when you multi-kill you need to be more precise that way. Since its so high in Time-to-kill, they indirectly took the power off here
As an m&k player I can play much more aggressively with the evo. With the br I would just play as an anchor and cleanup, avoid any 1 on 1 fights, and try and focus on objectives. Evo doesn’t give me an advantage, but it’s not just an auto loss now
Anyone have vsync problems after season 5s update? Was fine before but now when its on my frames are capped at 30. I can turn it off and get my frames back but then i get bad screen tearing so would prefer to have it on.
Needler on Prism is OP. Literally it's a power weapon and it shreds. The reason is because the map is not open at all. There are so many tunnels and close quarters that if you get the needler you are going to rack up kills
This was such a great analysis. The sprint delay thing is something that I immediately felt but couldn't put into words so it was interesting to see you break it down. As someone who didn't play halo 5, there was a bit of a learning curve and I was getting shit on in the beginning. Once I settled in, I found there is even more emphasis on good crouch strafing. I have my crouch on my right stick so the potential micro adjustment of my reticle while clicking would sometimes prevent a full burst from hitting and since it was easier to track and finish the last shot with the br, I focused more on not missing rather than hard strafing with the br. With the bandit evo, I find that I can crouch strafe really hard while still hitting all my shots with the bandit evo while it was harder to keep tracking all shots in a burst while clicking to crouch strafe. So i've been enjoying been able to break ankles more consistently. On other hand, it seems like 1 in every 5-10 games or so you still get a really bad server where none of your finishing headshots seem to be landing and it can be infuriating. I've been watching a lot of the pros who are super precise and some games, it looks like there reticle placement is perfect but nothing is landing.
the reload time being slow is only good for punishing you for get reload timing. reloading too often should be discouraged. the gun should have more ammo per mag because currently i'm forged to reload too often
The reason I think the reload might be longer is to prevent people spamming and to try to force players to pace their shots and shoot more accurately, just a guess though.
Yes, I like the BR. But bandit is a huge W for the game competitively. BR worked so well in older halos because……….well we had to make it work because we didn’t have any other options. Now we do and that’s amazing
Also, even though the bandit is barely faster ttk, it also takes 5 shots for a kill. So in that respect, the time per shot is a lot faster than the BR. This is especially important in terms of team shooting. You can just get shredded if you are team shot by people.
Awesome video man. I’m new to Halo Infinite so I don’t know much about the Bandit Evo at all. My first impressions was that I hated this gun, but as I started playing more and understanding the flow of the game. I started to understand and enjoy the weapon. Thanks for this awesome breakdown too. I played a lot of Halo 3, so playing infinite now and not having a BR felt weird to me. But getting the flow down with this gun, feels very good.
As a crappy casual player, can I ask what you think of the starting weapon having better ttk over the br which is now a pickup and i guess low tier power weapon? I mean ill always pick up a br because i suck at getting that last headshot with the bandit, but do competitive players want to eliminate the desire to pick up the br? I assume no pros ever use the commando over the bandit or br? Thanks for showing me that the later shots start to kick a lot more which explains why i struggle with that last headshot. Ive also always prefer the regular bandit to avoid descope but it seems its less accurate so thanks for pointing that out! What would you do to the commando to make it viable?
I love the bandit, but i do think it needs to have a slower ttk (slower firerate). Its really fast. This way it also gives the BR a better place in the sandbox but more on that soon. But also (controversial take) i would go back on the Kick removal. Adding back the big kick it had would make it require more skill to land your follow up shots aswell as making it less spammy. But the kick needs to be predictable. The more you shoot the more it kicks. But if you pace shots you get the reticle reset... a RNGless "bloom" system i supose. And with that, makes the BR the easier weapon of them to use but with its own skill expression with the Burst tracking. and speaking of bloom, remove the sidekick and commando, they are fun but carry little competetive integrity because of the bloom. (getting killed by a perfect ttk from these weapons feels so bad) what do you think? Whats your take on this?
I've been loving the bandit Evo as an m and k user. With the br I'm about a 1530 onyx player, and I remember getting the normal bandit slayer playlist and immediately shooting up to 1800 on that. Same has happened with the main ranked playlist now that we have bandit Evo starts. I've already hit 1750 csr which is way higher than I've ever gotten and I feel confident for once that I'm not playing with a disadvantage, and that the practice im putting into my aim is actually worth something. Other than that, ive been loving season 5, just hope extraction gets pulled from ranked. I left cs only to see it creep into halo, and its not good rn imo.
16:10 - How to make everyone happy (besides the niche who think Halo is Mario Party): 1) Upwards of 10 ranked playlists, 12 to mirror Halo 2 and 3, but 10 total if not. 2) In every ranked playlist besides "Arena", rotate the starting weapon every chance between Bandit Evo & BR. 3) In those playlists (and every ranked playlist), remove MMR and put CSR Only Matchmaking, determining that every player must start from Bronze 1 and "Climbing" their way up to high Onyx. Thus, making these playlists "the" progression solution instead. 4) All ranked playlists have the same meta changes as Ranked Arena, with the exception of "Keeping varying precision weapon starts". *This is Halo. Halo's core identity is precision weapons.* And finally 5) Next year for HCS, disable sprint and clamber for an entirely new meta shift, with either reducing assistance or adjusting the weapon sandbox to be more aligned with a modern day Halo 2 or Halo 3. Notice how I said "besides the niche"? Because an overwhelming amount of people, I'd argue hundreds of thousands to millions, would prefer what's listed above if they were simply provided it without question and without thought behind it. "But what about these in this community" -- I'm not saying "remove social playlists entirely". I'm insinuating consolidate all social playlists to a few compact varying playlists, and have the central focal point of the game be ranked. Just like Halo 2 and Halo 3. Which only had a few compact varying social playlists, but a large and wide array of ranked playlists. Except in the modern era, you want your "ranked" to be the same as your competitive, so the gameplay is the same as the esport. Let's also not be coy; Halo CE and Halo 2 were default settings, after all. Standardizing the "core" of the game around competition was the design of Halo, contrary to a single voice at Bungie may state. Bungie's own blog posts from the early years stress the importance of even, fair, and competitive playing fields in matchmaking; Which are also the key determination of competition in esports.
At this point the only thing I would change is just enough of a reduction in damage so it takes one extra body shot to kill, but still kills in the same 5 shots with a headshot.
My hope is that both the BR and EVO have their place in competitive via the addition of pick/ban phase where the teams take turns selecting the starting weapon, map, and mode

Started watching these videos gave it a go, I am loving it and really hooked. Played my first 5 ranked games today, I enjoy it a lot more than the social matches . It is fair to say I'm pretty hooked on it, but I am awful haha. Big thanks for the videos to intrigue and inform.
Accuracy has definitely improved with this, typically with a BR I'll get 45-50% (even worse in swat/tactical slayer since you ALWAYS miss shots since the first one will kill and the other two will miss)
Now I get 65-70%. Feels more rewarding.
Let's just say, I play the sandbox on ranked arena. Bandit, not a fan, so I use everything else and usually win. But my Playlists are Husky Raids and Squad Battle

Which you're entitled to an opinion: The issue is that you're incapable of using a weapon and being the best at it instantly, not that it's a bad weapon. You don't just jump into CS2 and think you're going to be a Global Elite. You can't just jump into a boxing ring and think you're going to be Muhammad Ali with no actual knowledge in how to fight.
I'd argue this is less of an opinion and more of a justification to why you're preferring Husky Raid and Squad Battle. "Shooters aren't my thing, it's why I chose playlists that aren't really shooter centric".
I had given up on ranked for a long time, but Bandit starts have drawn me in hard. It creates magic!

I feel like the Bandit is the great equalizer. I have been pretty low ranked for many seasons, Gold, low Platinum, but now, I feel I can take on Diamonds and low Onyx players and as a result I am high Platinum threatening Diamond. I always liked to play fast, and aggressively, and I feel like people really crutched the burst fire of the BR to help them with their bad aim, and now if someone has bad aim regardless of rank, they will suffer in ranked for now. Of course, as people get better with the Bandit, the temporary small advantage I feel with it will eventually go away, but for now, I am digging it.
I actually like how the reload is a bigger risk
9:50 I think the slow DMR reload is kind of a punishment for spamming your shots mindlessly, especially when you multi-kill you need to be more precise that way.

As an m&k player I can play much more aggressively with the evo. With the br I would just play as an anchor and cleanup, avoid any 1 on 1 fights, and try and focus on objectives. Evo doesn’t give me an advantage, but it’s not just an auto loss now

Anyone have vsync problems after season 5s update? Was fine before but now when its on my frames are capped at 30. I can turn it off and get my frames back but then i get bad screen tearing so would prefer to have it on.
Isn’t the outer ring to keep your opponents head in when shooting?
Needler on Prism is OP. Literally it's a power weapon and it shreds. The reason is because the map is not open at all. There are so many tunnels and close quarters that if you get the needler you are going to rack up kills
The amount of out plays, reversals I get now with the bandit is insane. 😅 You know their raging seeing them windmill me

Question for players who have the choice to play on either HD or 4K, which Bandit Evo reticle to you like more?
This was such a great analysis. The sprint delay thing is something that I immediately felt but couldn't put into words so it was interesting to see you break it down. As someone who didn't play halo 5, there was a bit of a learning curve and I was getting shit on in the beginning. Once I settled in, I found there is even more emphasis on good crouch strafing. I have my crouch on my right stick so the potential micro adjustment of my reticle while clicking would sometimes prevent a full burst from hitting and since it was easier to track and finish the last shot with the br, I focused more on not missing rather than hard strafing with the br. With the bandit evo, I find that I can crouch strafe really hard while still hitting all my shots with the bandit evo while it was harder to keep tracking all shots in a burst while clicking to crouch strafe. So i've been enjoying been able to break ankles more consistently. On other hand, it seems like 1 in every 5-10 games or so you still get a really bad server where none of your finishing headshots seem to be landing and it can be infuriating. I've been watching a lot of the pros who are super precise and some games, it looks like there reticle placement is perfect but nothing is landing.
the reload time being slow is only good for punishing you for get reload timing. reloading too often should be discouraged. the gun should have more ammo per mag because currently i'm forged to reload too often
Nah, I really like the ammo count. It means if you have perfect shots, you can take down 3 enemies without needing to reload, which is pretty crazy.
Its the exact same ammo to kill ratio as the br

The reason I think the reload might be longer is to prevent people spamming and to try to force players to pace their shots and shoot more accurately, just a guess though.

Yes, I like the BR. But bandit is a huge W for the game competitively. BR worked so well in older halos because……….well we had to make it work because we didn’t have any other options. Now we do and that’s amazing
I increased my POV and it’s made a big difference with this weapon.
Also, even though the bandit is barely faster ttk, it also takes 5 shots for a kill. So in that respect, the time per shot is a lot faster than the BR. This is especially important in terms of team shooting. You can just get shredded if you are team shot by people.
With a BR you can fight 2 enemies if good enough. With the bandit you are doomed. You will get insta clapped.
If I’m right on ranked slayer you can pick up the other bandit on the map. I run around with two different bandits it kinda funny but I don’t mind it
Awesome video man. I’m new to Halo Infinite so I don’t know much about the Bandit Evo at all. My first impressions was that I hated this gun, but as I started playing more and understanding the flow of the game. I started to understand and enjoy the weapon. Thanks for this awesome breakdown too.
I played a lot of Halo 3, so playing infinite now and not having a BR felt weird to me. But getting the flow down with this gun, feels very good.
As a crappy casual player, can I ask what you think of the starting weapon having better ttk over the br which is now a pickup and i guess low tier power weapon?
I mean ill always pick up a br because i suck at getting that last headshot with the bandit, but do competitive players want to eliminate the desire to pick up the br? I assume no pros ever use the commando over the bandit or br?
Thanks for showing me that the later shots start to kick a lot more which explains why i struggle with that last headshot. Ive also always prefer the regular bandit to avoid descope but it seems its less accurate so thanks for pointing that out!
What would you do to the commando to make it viable?
Wish they would bring thrust starts back and keep equipment that would add sooo much movement possibility.
I love the bandit, but i do think it needs to have a slower ttk (slower firerate). Its really fast. This way it also gives the BR a better place in the sandbox but more on that soon.
But also (controversial take) i would go back on the Kick removal. Adding back the big kick it had would make it require more skill to land your follow up shots aswell as making it less spammy. But the kick needs to be predictable. The more you shoot the more it kicks. But if you pace shots you get the reticle reset... a RNGless "bloom" system i supose. And with that, makes the BR the easier weapon of them to use but with its own skill expression with the Burst tracking.
and speaking of bloom, remove the sidekick and commando, they are fun but carry little competetive integrity because of the bloom. (getting killed by a perfect ttk from these weapons feels so bad)

I've been loving the bandit Evo as an m and k user. With the br I'm about a 1530 onyx player, and I remember getting the normal bandit slayer playlist and immediately shooting up to 1800 on that. Same has happened with the main ranked playlist now that we have bandit Evo starts. I've already hit 1750 csr which is way higher than I've ever gotten and I feel confident for once that I'm not playing with a disadvantage, and that the practice im putting into my aim is actually worth something. Other than that, ive been loving season 5, just hope extraction gets pulled from ranked. I left cs only to see it creep into halo, and its not good rn imo.

just as someone that basically only played season 4 i noticed a difference in the br right away
16:10 - How to make everyone happy (besides the niche who think Halo is Mario Party):
1) Upwards of 10 ranked playlists, 12 to mirror Halo 2 and 3, but 10 total if not.
2) In every ranked playlist besides "Arena", rotate the starting weapon every chance between Bandit Evo & BR.
3) In those playlists (and every ranked playlist), remove MMR and put CSR Only Matchmaking, determining that every player must start from Bronze 1 and "Climbing" their way up to high Onyx. Thus, making these playlists "the" progression solution instead.
4) All ranked playlists have the same meta changes as Ranked Arena, with the exception of "Keeping varying precision weapon starts". *This is Halo. Halo's core identity is precision weapons.*
And finally
5) Next year for HCS, disable sprint and clamber for an entirely new meta shift, with either reducing assistance or adjusting the weapon sandbox to be more aligned with a modern day Halo 2 or Halo 3.
Notice how I said "besides the niche"? Because an overwhelming amount of people, I'd argue hundreds of thousands to millions, would prefer what's listed above if they were simply provided it without question and without thought behind it.

I'm not saying "remove social playlists entirely". I'm insinuating consolidate all social playlists to a few compact varying playlists, and have the central focal point of the game be ranked.
Just like Halo 2 and Halo 3. Which only had a few compact varying social playlists, but a large and wide array of ranked playlists.
Except in the modern era, you want your "ranked" to be the same as your competitive, so the gameplay is the same as the esport. Let's also not be coy; Halo CE and Halo 2 were default settings, after all. Standardizing the "core" of the game around competition was the design of Halo, contrary to a single voice at Bungie may state. Bungie's own blog posts from the early years stress the importance of even, fair, and competitive playing fields in matchmaking; Which are also the key determination of competition in esports.
At this point the only thing I would change is just enough of a reduction in damage so it takes one extra body shot to kill, but still kills in the same 5 shots with a headshot.

My hope is that both the BR and EVO have their place in competitive via the addition of pick/ban phase where the teams take turns selecting the starting weapon, map, and mode
