Great Video! Just getting into Boogie and your videos are indispensable. The first thing I did 3 years ago was learn the blues scale with the chop in every key. It was difficult, but now it's a part of me. You are a fab teacher!

Hi Brendan. i love your stuff. a question please. how do you know when to change the left hand chop to follow the right hand progression. is there a formula to follow for this, do you always follow the root note of the 1 4 and 5 formula. love you bro.

great lesson, great series! now, once you know your blues scale & which notes to play, how do you develop interesting rhythms for the right hand phrasing? I tend to fall back into boring triplet patterns, generally. Would it be an idea to make a tutorial on phrasing and right hand rhythm? cheers, D

+Richthofen Media If it ain't got that swing..... Also listen to great boogie recordings for rhythmic ideas. I suggest if you're into piano rhythms you seriously study Professor Longhair (some vids about him on this channel) Cheers, DR K

How do you know when to hit those pauses? Sounds great! Thank you!

+Jonathanpaulm The question is like "how do you know how to breathe" - it the same with pauses in music which are the "breath". It kinda come naturally. One tip would be to make sure you LISTEN to what you are playing. Cheers, DR K

Does Dr. K ever mention Otis Span when referring to blues musicians?

i have horrendous hand to eye coordination skills. it has taken me from 1996 (19 years ago when we got our first home computer) till now to type as fast as i can.. sadly i do not type fast, and i have used a computer for a good 80% of those days in all of those years. now i am 27 years old. i wish to be able to play so many different kinds of musical instruments, but it just takes me so long to master even the most basic of things. it hurts me inside, it really does. i love music so much but am unable for use of a better word, make my own. i tried the keyboard years ago when i was in school, but back then i never took it seriously. i really wish i did now. after school i got myself a guitar but again, basic chords but anything to do with a bar chord i had no chance. i have even owned other instruments such as a mandolin, Turkish Saz, a small irish tin whistle flute even a half size Sitar but sadly i could never master any of them. i'd love to be able to play the Accordion and the Hurdy-Gurdy.. even the bagpipes.
one day.. maybe... i can dream.
