I like the one by liszt where he interlocks only the middle note in a double octave switching the hands between black and white keys
haha yep.. He has it that way in La Campanella....
Things to Do :)
Hi!
Hello there
@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More *cough cough* General Kenobi...
like the ending of Tchaikovskys piano concerto?
I don't think the left handed scales should be more difficult than the octave scales, might want to switch that up.
Thanks for commenting! It might be just that I learned the left-handed scales later, but it seemed more confusing to me than the octaves. I guess it is up to everyone's personal experience :)
Things to Do
@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More yeah I would say that both the right handed and the left handed chromatic scales are at the same level/difficulty (very easy), it just a matter of habit.
Personally right handed chromatic scales are easier
@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More Technically, you're supposed to be equally able with both hands, if you're a pianist. So playing a chromatic scale should be equally easy on both hands.
Hm. As far as I know, the left hand and right hand do tend to serve different melodic and harmonic roles, outside of some Baroque music.
@@pineapplewhatever5906 yeah but having the 2 hand equilibrated is better, even in pieces or sogs that uses one hand more than the other being able to switch the primary hand is useful and satisfying, it's optional, but cool.
In some classical pieces it's necessary, like some Bach fugue for example
Do I tell him about chromatic scales in thirds, fifths and sixths?
Please don't :D

@Mathews196 rachmaninov: laughs in twelfths
@@fryderyckchopin484 Paganini: *just laughs*
Thats what I was hoping for.
What- 😀
what's actually difficult is to have these scales clear and equal which you don't
1:58 i can do that with great ease but I can’t do a simple chromatic scale lmao
lol nice. The Chromatic scale just takes a bit of practice; I'm sure you'll be able to conquer it.

Imagine level 10, playing chromatic scale with feet! XD
lol...I'll let you make that video!
Things to Do :)
I think the hardest thing in music skill is tempo because it's the crucial part of making a melody sound good. If you have 1 note a 10th of a second too late or too soon, you kill the soul of the melody.
currently learning Rachmaninoff op 25 3 in g minor this is literally so true
I think rhythm and phrasing is what makes a melody sound good
That pinky do be flying tho 🤩
For the Chopin scale I’d say it’s much more difficult than you thought making the video since you detached some notes descending but it’s an easy fix if you already can do the scale at that tempo I definitely agree with the difficulty order tho
How you dare not to include Chopin's thirds and suckreliggious flight of the bum pleb be from Cziffra ideally hh? Dissapointment this is xxd
Thanks for the comment! Interesting English, but I can't play Chopin's thirds scale.... XD
Things to Do
@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More For 3rd scales I use the fingering start on C with : 1-3, 2-4, 1-5, 2-4, 1-4, 2-3, 2-4, 1-3, 2-4, 1-5, 2-3, 1-4 and repeat for every octave.
That song is overplayed
These are scales, not songs. Flight of the bumblebee is a song.
PIECE
All 8 levels were just a step by step to then add them together in the next Frans Liszt piece
true!

Chopin - Chromatic Etude (op10 no2)
Liszt - Grand Galop Chromatique (s.219)
No Liszt Reminiscences de Don Juan or feux follets
The "campanella" scale isn't hard when done with 2 hands, its hard when you do it with 1 hand.
I don’t know why this is so entertaining, but this is the forth time I’m watching this video
hahaha well feel free to watch it as many times as you want :D
Things to Do :)
Level 9: Chopin's prelude no. 24 chromatic scale that is before the end of the piece
*visible pain*
Things to Do :D
Those are called chromatic thirds, his etude op 25 no 6 has a lot of them in it
@@dzordzszs reminiscenes de Don Juan
@@imagod4796 The optional cadenza is insane
@@dzordzszs the one with sixteenth left and 32th right hand chromatic thirds?
Overlapping double octaves are so fun to play tho
Yes they are, but difficult.
Thanks for the comment!

I had no idea about these!! I will absolutely have to give them a try and add them to my piano warmup!!
Glad that this video helped! I would say that the level 5 Chopin scale is the most beneficial. It has certainly helped me strengthen my weaker fingers.
Things to Do
@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More is the chopin scale from etude op10no2?
@@masamune9082 probably cause it is called chromatique.
this is level 1 to level 4, at maximum. Chromatic scales with fingers 3-4-5 while playing chords on same hand like chopin etude 2 op10, chromatic thirds, fifths, sixths....
yeah sure....I'll let you know when I master chromatic sixths :D

Level 9: the end of Bartok piano concerto #3
*visible fear*
Juat 6 years and I can actually do all of them! Might use this as a warmup :D
Legend says hes just getting started
Yay! Finally youtube suggests to me non 100k-sub channels!!!!
Amazing video.
Thanks for your support :)
Things to Do
Why didn't you include chromatic thirds? Those are exceptionally difficult especially on 16th notes on the 3-4-5 fingers.
Chopin's thirds etude (Op. 25 No. 6).
Level 7 is like Hungarian Rhapsody No.2
haha yes exactly
Things to Do :)
Yes hungarian rhapsody friska part no ?
Campanella
@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More there's exactly the same chromatic octave scale towards the end of la Campanella
haha yes ik I've played it
:D
MASTER!!! MASTER!!
Difficulty: difficult....I died
What kind of keyboard/electric piano are you using?
For this one I had a little Yamaha 66 key; now I'm using an M-Audio Keystation pro 88 which is much better.
Things to Do :)
You might need a metronome 😭
Yeah I noticed that after the fact.. Thanks for the comment!
Things to Do
Things to Do no problems lmao
If you do alot of contrary motion chromatic scales then really it's very easy for octave contrary motion (opposite octaves) and maybe overlapping ones to a certain extent
Wow amazing❤💛So I see how much Levels I can still learn.
Thanks! With time and practice I'm sure you can do it!

@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More Yes I will I play now 1 1/2 Year the piano and it is a passion. And Step by Step I will learn. In the moment I practise double thirds🙈🙂 subscribed your wonderful channel.🥰👍

may I suggest the chromatic augmented fourth from Chopin op 10 no 3.. I struggled for weeks :(
I see you have the same keyboard as me
ahh very nice...I just bought an M-Audio Keystation 88 pro since I got 1000 subs so I will be able to perform many more pieces now

Lol I found out this and I knew playing these are my daily stuff lol
Yep, It's good to practice them every day!

I learned piano on that same keyboard!
Very very underrated!!
Thanks for the support!

What about Debussy Chromatic Scale?
Either 345 or Campanella is the hardest for sure, but probably 345
The Campanella one isn't so bad with practice...personally I think the 345 is the toughest to master.
Things to Do :)
Wow, I can do overlapping double octaves with ease but can't do the normal chromatic scale. It seems like i did something wrong... i think
Go slow; speed comes naturally with time
For me, only the level 5 scale and last scale is difficult.

Didn't know this comment exist
When your playing level 2, on the black keys use 1-4 instead of 1-5, its much easier
I was taught to do octaves with 1 and 4 when playing legato, and 1 and 5 when plating staccato
Maybe the most difficult or tied with overlapping octaves would be third scales just my opinion tho
0:37 for the left hand chromatic scale, It isn’t that hard just needs a lot of practice (especially if you’re right handed)
1:12
Our good friend Chopin made sure to not forget this in his ''Chromatic etude''
1:27 I kinda disagree, it's super easy with 2 hands I didn't even practice to do it. It's very hard with 1 hand but with 2 it's really easy
When I start playing piano
I do this chromatic scale using 3-4-5 maybe I'm chopin
Best way to learn? Resources? Teacher?
I would recommend going to a teacher and studying professionals on youtube
Things to Do :)
what about thirds (one hand) chromatich scales
working on it :D
Things to Do
Piano keyboard used?
I can do them all except the scales with fingers 3-4-5 and the Campanella style (still haven’t tried them both but it looks terribly difficult).
Very nice! Keep practicing
Things to Do :)
cromatic thirds in ballade n4 at the end?
Is there any piece to learn about chromatic scale?
Yep, there's Chopin's Op 10 No2, which uses a 3-4-5 fingering for a chromatic scale. There's lots of others as well, Heroic Polonaise uses it at the end, and La Campanella incorporates it as well.
Things to Do :D
@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More for beginner?
what about normal double octaves 2 hands?
everyone gangsta until he plays the thx intro at 1:44
A thing to do would be Chromatic scales in both hands a third apart. They are seen in a few pieces
Yes! I think I will try it
Things to Do :)
I could do overlapping double octaves and opposite double octaves, but I still can't do the chopin scale 😂😂😂
1:45 That is so Liszt-like. You see in twice in HR#2.
Someone please answer me, how tf do u play a scale for example (C major), WITH 2 HANDS? on the same octave

Thanks so very much!

@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More no prob ur Channel is so cool and i love piano yeah
The pianist is using thumb indexed middle finger right?
I dunno why but the last one is the only one i can do cleanly. I can play the opening to Rackoczi march with relative ease
nice! I play the opening to Liszt's version of that to practice my octaves :)
Things to Do :D
@@ThingstoDo_Piano_And_More im not even a pianist i just have really big hands and they're pretty flexible, I just pull up the first page of Hungarian Rhapsody 15 and go to work.
you forgot the winter wind chromatic scale
The Campanella scale is insanely easy for me
Good video! I came across a nice song i learned that included the double octave one, and i honestly gave up, it wasn't that important, just a joke of a song.
I was expecting the chromatic sections to come up from Liszt's "Un sospiro," there are 2 sections of chromatics parts, they sound so lovely, but man are they HARD!
took me about 2 weeks start to end to master them, it was really exhasting! You should check them out! they're so cool and Un sospiro is my favourite piece ever written!
Very nice! Thanks for the support and I wish you luck with your piece!

What about the Chopin winter wind chromatic scale?
hahaha I'll try it soon

The opposite double scale not that hard as the la campenella scale isn’t it?
I'm not sure, difficulty is subjective for everyone so it's really up to you
Things to Do :)
Funny, the most difficult ones are only found in Listz's pieces🤣
Very amazing

Liszt mazeppa cromatique double octave technique
Chromatic thirds in both hands?
My teacher taught me an alternate fingering for chromatic scales that lets you do them insanely quickly and I can’t for the life of me remember the fingering.
1:47 - Grand galop chromatique by Liszt?
For me it would be a chromatic scales in thirds ascending
bro idk they all are sooo easy... but actually the one pattern u mentioned there campanela scale ... i could say its hardest one among those 8 if u mean it in 1 hand as just like the start of feux follets liszt's 5th trascendental etude its rlly tricky one and those 8 u just showed is a kid playing on grass level
I'm pretty sure level 8 is in the 9th movement of pictures at an exhibition at the end right?
hmm I'm not sure atm but I can check that out for you.

Prelude in D minor thirds has entered the chat
Please no.... I am dreading that one...
Things to Do :D
Me at the Campanella scale/ opposite octaves
:)
Things to Do
Please do this when you have a better level of piano... Because chromatic scales played with flat fingers and irregularities hurts your hands and cerebral tempo
I would switch the 3-4-5 scale and the campanella scale
Both what about a legendary flight of the Bumblebee?
I'll get to it eventually!

Level 7& 8. Are these really that hard? I can do them with a little bit of practice. I learned them in the piece "pirates of the Caribbean" by jarod Radnich.

The fact is, most of these scales are simple
Kinda missing the scale from Grand Etudes de Paganini No1
i am no musician but, why is it called chromatic?
Chromatic means colorful so I assume (because a chromatic scale is where you hit every note) someone named it that because it contains all other scales, so very colorful indeed.
Things to Do :)
don't agree that Liszt scale at end was hardest, just looks flashy
i know how to press one note on the keyboard then I'm done
