I love Zugu cases. I have them on three of my kids iPad minis and my Wife’s 11 inch iPad Pro and have used them on several other iPad pros. I just pre-ordered one for my M4 iPad Pro as well. They are good about not using more protective material than is needed so I’m really excited to see how thin they make the M4 iPad Pro version.

Having dropped my previous iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) just before Christmas i decided I would invest in a new 2tb m2 model. The previous generic case didn’t protect the screen when it fell from the sofa onto a stone floor so I decided that a Zugu case would be a worthwhile insurance policy. I’ve been using it for 4 months and it has to be the best case I’ve used on all of the models of iPad I’ve ever owned and that includes a flirtation with Otterbox bombproof cases. The only downside with the Zugu is that I often find metallic items stuck to the back of the case. This has recently included a dinner knife, my ‘lost’ pen, and a USB stick that I spent several hours looking for before accidentally finding it stuck to the back of the case when I gave up searching and picked up my iPad to do some work!

    Hi Jakob,
I have been using the ZUGU case for my 11” iPad Pro since ~2019. It still works great so far.
The slots 1 to 4 is useable (for my Zoom lesson) even it is unstable as you shown, it never slip during my Zoom lesson since 2020.
I don’t use screen protector for that ZUGU case. I travel with this iPad a lot since I used it for lessons and perform. So far so good, after 5 years of use with Speck and ZUGU cases.
I like it’s magnetic function which let my iPad to stick on metal music stand, my iPad can stick in place even close to upright angle for my lesson.
It can even magnetically stick to the refrigerator, but not a good idea to use in this way. It is just too risky.
One thing I don’t like, it is the weight, so heavy! Especially on my new 12.9” M1 iPad Pro which seems even heavier than my MacBook Air!

Really pleased to hear you are up and running on a new iPad. I've used the JTec cases on my last two iPads, seem fine, although mine is slightly different as the buttons are exposes rather than having button covers in the case. Looking at something more rugged though. Great video💩

I've had several covers, including a few that came with a Bluetooth keyboard, but what I use now is a Zugu case with no keyboard. It has the same stand yours has, but I never use it, as I prefer to use my iPad on my lap most of the time. I just lay it flat on my lap. It is the most protective case I've had (not that I drop my iPad or take it outside) and I really like using it. It's solid, rugged and easy to use.

I have a $20-$25 iPad case with a pencil holder that I got from Amazon and was surprised at the quality. If I start carrying my ipad around more I may consider upgrading but this one has a sturdy back, extra protection on the edges, the magnets work great for standing up. Overall I’m happy.

Hi Jakob! New to your channel, new to iPad music, new to everything really I'm just a total NOOB... ANYWAY, I'm completely with you on the Zugu case. I have an iPad Air that I mostly use for visual art, so lap, holding it, rotating it every which way, whatever and I've had the Zugu on it for almost a year now. I love it both for the quality of the protection and for the way it feels holding it. If you spend a lot of time with your iPad in your hands this might matter-- it just feels good, like holding a well bound book. It's also brilliant for sticking to the fridge and great for finding small metal objects you've dropped on the floor and lost. Found an embroidery needle the other day by just waving the iPad around near where I thought it probably was. Wave-wave-wave-shpack-zing!-there-it-is! So. Good choice. Anyways your channel is great, you are awesome, I hope I can learn a lot more-- take care and be well!

Not affiliated!! When I got my iPad pro, 12,9 inn2019 (2018 model) I was nervous about the size of the screen, having heard about cracked iPhones. I got the Zugu case, and though it adds weight, I have never, ever regretted it! It is solid, versatile, feels really safe to use and it has even saved the iPad from a 1,5 m drop.
Unfortunately I drowned the iPad and had to get a 2022 model. Zugu no longer ships to Europe, so it was interesting finding a new case. The one I got is almost similar to the alternative in the video, but I miss the Zugu!! I travel a lot, the iPad is always with me and the case has never let me down.
I understand the «getting it in and out», but once a week I have band practice and get the iPad out of/into the case. no prob. It can handle it.
For screen protection (from bread crumbs and grease collected by the flip-Zugu cover, I have been using PaperLike. Never had a problem.
This is not a sales speech - just my 4 years of experience with the above mentioned.

I have the jtec one and it’s great. It holds the pen really well. I’ve had it for two years. However yesterday I sat on it and I am now typing this on a bent iPad with a badly shattered screen 😢. I’ve just spent a ton of money on a new 1tb 12.9 and am wondering whether a Zubu that isn’t black would have protected my old one and been more visible against my car seat.

    Somehow I missed this one.
I don’t think screen protectors help if your case protects the pad. The case protects the screen.
On prices, I can’t worry too much about the price of the case. I have had good cases and crappy ones (Apple). Usually, the best case has at least two alternatives that are the same time under a different name. Usually, one of the alternatives is substantially cheaper. So I buy those, because I have been sick and out of work for years. Note that these are indeed slim and not “armor” cases. The later are bulkier affairs with plenty of riot gear for males who like to buy stuff with the word “tactical” somewhere in the marketing copy. Because, you know, small pee pees, billed caps worn at inappropriate times, deep insecurity, hatred of taxation, fear of “foreigners” (and not Foreigner, which might actually make sense), irrational affection for weapons, and all that nonsense. The cases are hard, have lots of overhang, and will live in the oceans until the sun dries up the seas and we’re long dead. Your two examples here are protective folio cases that aim to keep the general pad shape with a useful folder cover added to a bounce sleeve.
What is much worse, to me, than an extravagant case is a preposterously expensive pad. No pad, with the hamstrung OS Apple still supplies on these things, should cost anything remotely like 2000 dollars. Tim Schnook has lost his rails. I mean, Apple has had joke prices for many years, but the mobile stuff was less outlandish, relatively speaking, in the early days of the pad products. The introduction of the Pro series ended that very minor bit of restraint. $2000 is a solid no - I don’t care that I have a bazillion music apps. Most of the apps stink, and ai could learn to live without the rest. Happily, there are still less-dear examples available, but the pricing is an embarrassment for the industry.
On the poop emoji, I do think poop is the best of those horrid little images, but I don’t use those things. They are like Facebook and Snapchat to me: they are just an unqualified no. Actually, emoji are worse. Emoji intrude brazenly in browsers and keyboards and messages and they undermine the intelligent use of language as a means of self-expression. They’re just bad news to me. Emoji deserve to be scooped into a bag and dumped in the nearest bin, like sidewalk poop.
Sorry to be long - much love.

The Zugu case ticks all the checkboxes except for two. I don't think it's possible for a case to get them all.
I miss passthrough USB charging to the iPad, and easy compatibility to a keyboard. And maybe taking the iPad out easily for light solo flights on a sofa.
Other than that, this case seems to dominate every other case's features on the market.
Oh yeah, except portrait mode. Portrait mode is good for viewing cookbooks while working in the kitchen. Zugu can kinda do it but the angle is quite steep.

I’d never consider a $20USD case for a $2k iPad! 🙆🏼‍♀️ One thing for certain, regardless of where you are in the World… one gets what one pays for. There’s are very good reasons why the ZUGU commands the high price that it does.

They have nice colors too

I have the ZUGU case for my M1 iPad Pro 11". Best iPad case I have ever used (for my needs).
I personally hate those tri-fold stands. They are flimsy both as a cover as well as for a stand. When I saw the ZUGU, I knew this would be a stand I could tap, press on, and even "touch type" on the screen without concern for it wobbling or moving around.
Mine holds the pencil just fine in the magnetic holder on top - I keep my pencil there all the time (never using the pencil pocket on the back). A pencil that is accessible is a pencil that will get used. My pencil has never come out under normal usage, though if smacked hard, it will come out. It may be a concern for some people or some situations, but not as bad as it seems.
I also especially like the construction of the stand, as well as the way it wraps the iPad in protective material as Jakob explained. The main thing I don't like about it is, it doesn't allow using the ipad (on the stand) in portrait mode. My previous stand allowed that. Also, if you use the camera a lot (I don't), when flipped back, the cover blocks the camera. So it has to dangle below the iPad.
Congrats on getting a new iPad Jakob! You didn't talk about why 12.9in vs. 11in. You should comment on that in a future video (if you haven't already).

      @JakobHaq  Рік тому +3

If you’ve got an iPad 6th gen (A1893 Wi-Fi, A1954 Wi-Fi + Cellular) then you might want your next purchase to not only be an upgrade but also something more future proof.
      .
If you’re on a budget then a used/refurbished 256Gb 10.9” iPad Air from 2020 (A2316 Wi-Fi, A2324 (Wi-Fi + Cellular) would be good. Slightly bigger screen, A14 Bionic hexa core processor, 4GB of ram, quad core graphics, improved camera etc.
However! Your old Lightning stuff becomes kinda obsolete unless cables can be switched out, because this iPad has USB-C. So you’ll need a new hub or dongles etc. And remember, this model has NO headphone jack!
      .
However if your on an even tighter budget and want to keep using you lightning gear (plus keep the headphone jack) then you could go for a 256GB 10.2” iPad 9th gen from 2021. (2603 Wi-Fi, 2604 Wi-Fi + Cellular). This one has an A13 bionic hexa core processor, 3GB of RAM, quad core graphics. Stuff like the cameras will be pretty much the same as the ones you’ve got in your current model.
      .
In the end, it all depends on your budget. If you get a newer USB-C model iPad, you might also need new external gear for your musical peripherals 💸. You might also need extra dough for stuff like a protective cover/case and screen protection, especially if you buy the stuff used 💸.
