Hi Gijs, maybe I can explane why there is smoke even when there is little oxygen. Smoke is gassed coming of of the wood because of the heat. You can see this when you look closely at flames. When you burn wood it is not the wood that is burning but the gasses that come of the wood because of the heat. This is called pyrolysis. When there is lot of oxygen the gasses can burn really good and there wil be very little smoke. When there is little oxygen you get a lot of smoke. That is also the reason why you wet the wood chips and you don’t put them directly in the fire, this way the wood can not burn really good and it will give a lot of smoke. I hope this explains it for you, if not contact me.
Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Thanks for that comment! I have always seen Finland as a part of Scandinavia for some sort of reason and I was wrong. I've learned something today 😊. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

Thank you so much! That helps me understand this better. Isn't the same as creating charcoal? Groet, Gijs ;-)
Outdoorguru charcoal is also made with oxygen deprived burn processes
Seems like this can also be used as an oven (as opposed to a smoker) to cook/bake anything that will fit. Is that correct?
Yes it can be used as an oven. Maybe drill a hole in the top for a thermometer. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Hi Gijs, waar kan ik die tripod rek kopen om je hout bij elkaar te houden? Hoor graag van je.

Some say don't wet the wood??
Hi Mike,
Some say, some do ;-). It depends on time and result.
Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe!

@@OutdoorguruGearReviews Thanks.
The Muurikka is from Finland, and Finland is not Scandinavia. 🙂

Very finnicky, you convinced me not to buy one
You don't have to. That is not goal. But... why not?
