That Big Red is a keeper for sure!
Definitely! Thank you for watching!
Cycle wash
Bleach water will clean the seat
My big red had that big balloon front tire I loved creek riding mine was lil older still chain driven and didn't have reverse it was a 200çc but I had several different atcs growing up all Hondas but I would trade a vehicle for a good one now days take care ✌️
Ky
700 bucks is nuts for a metal gas tank big red for sure
I’m sure you know this but you’ll probably never see another original big red that clean I’m your lifetime.. a true survivor. What a find 😊
It is a great machine! I agree! Thank you for watching!
No lie I found a prestine all original from the tank all the way to the carb and head she looks straight out the dealer
Those shaft drive Big Reds were the work horses of many farmers back in the day. To find one in that condition is just amazing.
Definitely! Thank you for watching!
Wow Joe that thing is super clean. I have two Big Red's (83-84) but the 250es is super hard to find in that condition. Id keep it as an investment. Yes those are the original tires. Serwa Tires makes the reproduction of that tread if you wanna make it perfect. Id honestly throw a tube in it and keep it oem. Nice find !
It is a great machine, and a classic! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
I feel like you would be crazy not to hold onto this one. That is a piece of off road history in pristine condition.
It is a great machine, and definitely a piece of history! Thank you for watching!
Yeh but don’t ride it!

Joe , What a score ! Brings back memories. I bought a brand new 185 in the 80’s & later using graded to the 250 big Red with reverse. A true classic icon of off road atvs . Honda set the bar for others only to follow. This was a go anywhere vehicle, much like a mountain goat . True , they were only unsafe in the misused environment in my opinion misrepresented. Anyway, they were still light enough to pull out without a winch or throw in the back of my old pickup truck. Those things were indestructible & even floated.
I am glad that it brought back some good memories! It is a classic! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
What a great find! Beautiful condition. I purchased an 87 Big Red from a guy I sold a snowblower to. It was in really rough shape but I got it for $100 and got it running fairly easily. Mine had been sitting in a barn for years too. 😎 Hold on to this one! It’s a timeless classic and the best year of Big Reds
It is definitely a classic! Thank you for watching!
Nice score!! You will never find another in that condition for only $700. Keep, keep, keep!!
That’s a 5k machine now maybe more you scored huge!!! 1987 is a rare year!! It’s the year they banned these so a lot weren’t made
My father purchased one of these so he could ride with us kids years ago. Living in New England, unlike these days, the winters were both very cold and had loads of snow. I had the very first Suzuki QuadSport ever made while my brother rode a 1985 Honda ATC250R, and we all would go trail riding (these were snowmobile trails back then) super late at night. I cannot 🎉put into words just how much fun we had bombing through the trails with snow falling in front of the lights. Those were the very best of the "good old days. "
I hate suggesting this, because I’m a true believer in using something for its purpose but I think I’d “hang” this one up for another 10-15 years. It’s in good enough shape to keep it put up in my opinion. Ecspecially when you have countless other machines to be riding. Nice find, thank you for giving all the machines the love they deserve.
My father hadn't an '84 Honda Big Red, and he loved it. He used to come with us kids for our 1:AM trail rides in the middle of the winter, tooling around on the snowmobile trails while it was snowing. We had a sled trail that went right through our pasture where people would come from across the street and fly up the field. Sometimes, they'd come through fifty, seventy-five, and even one hundred at a time in the middle of the night. It was awesome being a kid back then flying through the trails on my '85 Suzuki QuadSport 230 with my brother on his '85 Honda ATC 250R. Of course, he'd smoke me, but it was all about the ride. People don't do these types of things anymore, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. It was so much fun, but, people are too preoccupied with their phones and tablets to bother to actually live life these days. How sad is that?
i have an 85 250sx and it still runs like new great bike
Keep it!!! Those things are still awesome!!!😎💪🇺🇸
Them 250 3wheelers are a great thing we have a friend and he has one
I've bought 2 Big Reds, 1984 and a 1987 new from the dealer. If i remember correctly, I paid $1700 and $1800. Used them for hunting. Loved them, great machines and bullet proof.
BTW those are the original brand and model tires that came with them.
Great find and deal. Mint ones like yours are selling now, for more than they were brand new.
People sell them for 2000 and more where I live and not half as good as that one. You got a awesome deal that thing with last you 30 years easy . Toughest bike ever made
Back in the 80's we had a Big Red as a general work horse on the family cattle and sheep farm high up in the hills of the Scottish Borders. Every cold & wet spring lambing season it could go almost anywhere towing a trailer loaded with stockfeed or in unexpected spring snowfalls, rescuing mothers with newborn lambs from exposure. It always started first time and proved to be worth its weight in gold many times over. It did thousands and thousands of hours of hard work in all weathers and was super easy to maintain. Apart from brakes, tyres and regular oil & filter changes it only needed a timing chain replaced in almost 14yrs of service.
It eventually sold for almost as much as my dad paid for it. Absolutely bulletproof. What a find and definitely a keeper.
Always enjoy watching your videos, especially your problem solving in fact I could use some of your endless patience myself at the moment as I try try again to find an elusive electrical gremlin in my 2008 Triumph Rocket III.
Looking forward to see what you find next. Best wishes and keep up the great work!
Nice find man!! Those side covers sell for $500 a peice each!! Keep this one they keep going up in value
good tip: Cut 3 inch of a jumper cable wire or something alike, put it in your powerdrill, now you have a free carb cleaner brush. 😁
I have personally seen about 20 of the vehicles on here before you bought them. This one I did not. Nice one for sure.
WOW definitely a great score on the BIg Red. If it's in good/great condition it's worth a PRETTY penny
I watched a video about what some old Honda three wheelers went for at Barrett Jackson and was blown away by some of the sale prices. You scored big time on this one
I can't believe you got a super rare 1987 model that got in before the ban 👍
You got one heck of a deal on that old beast. Things darn near like brand new !
Yeah I'd hang onto that Big Red that's a heck of a good deal and a very clean machine. You don't find them that clean anymore. You definitely find some of the best and coolest deals I've ever seen. Great video.
Unplug that filter drain hole. Wish I still had my 85 Big Red, loved that hoss. An old farmer bought it from me bout 8 years ago. Not a scratch on it and Fired up first hit. That electric start is the only way to go. Enjoy, got a rare find bud. Damn nice rig. I've got parts of one in back but missing to much to finish. But now after watching you get this one rolling, I might do it, why not!!!
Just got my 85 Big Red back together yesterday, I realized how much I missed riding it.
The inside of that Gas tank!!! :D
That's a awesome machine. Probably the longest lasting ATV/atc engines ever made.
Awesome find! Don’t know how you find all these. But a good leather cleaner and conditioner will clean that seat up back to factory fresh!
Just made a haul thats right up your alley. Just picked up a first Gen, ATC 250r Monday, was in a guys barnyard covered with tin. He said if I could get his lawn tractor going for him I could have it and the other stuff out there. What I could see was 2 atc 90s a arc 185, CR 80 and a YZ80, as well as a couple tote goat mini bikes, I'm bout to busy as hell for a while. Think I can flip the bikes quick, maybe the atcs to? Great vid.
man..that brings back soo many memories from when i was a kid. my best friends dad used to ride one of those.. and we had the atc 70 to follow him on.. i woulda been like 8 yrs old.. i used to think that big red was a beast... awesome find.. great content!👍🙂
When I was a kid we had a Honda 70 3-wheeler. Later on I worked on a ranch in Colorado and we all our own 1993 or so Honda FourTrax 300's (two wheel drive version) to use for irrigation or just running around the ranch. Because of this history I've always liked the old Honda 3 and 4 wheelers. I'm also old enough to remember when the Big Red was added to the Honda model line. One of my friends in high school had one on his farm and it was a beast. You are really lucky to find one that is in such good mechanical and cosmetic shape.
NOT EVEN 6 MINUTES INTO THIS AND I GOTTA SAY, AWESOME FIND, I GREW UP ON BIG REDS, CANT TELL YA HOW MANY TIMES I'VE WRECKED EM, AND THEY STAYED SUPER STRONG AND STURDY.....LOVE IT
Cool finds. I'm always impressed to see how many subscribers you have. That's not easy to do. There's some good YT channels that do similar content that haven't been able to break 100K. Guys like Classic Octane, Motorcycle MD, and Brickhouse Builds. I wonder what you're doing different. You definitely put out more videos then those other guys...you've been cranking them out lately.
All with no sponsors
The reason Joe has so many of us is because of his care to us the public. You notice nearly no swearing and setting the camera for our best views, that makes, or takes twice as long as just plain fixing stuff. With the extra time he gives us it let's him even think how best to show what he's doing.
I’ve never heard of those other channels but I’ll check them out next
It's the family friendly atmosphere and the dog for my son ans I. Plus he mostly does diet bikes and four wheelers and that is what we like.
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it! I love working on machines, and making the videos!
Great ❤ idea to get the items. Makes for great show. Unusually you don’t get good items. It started with no mouse 🐭 issues different for you.
Is that Vin running the chainsaw in the background?
Hahaha I wouldn't be surprised
Immaculate find, just absolutely beautiful and best part is you could easily make 2k+ profit if you ever wanted to sell for sure but it's definitely a keeper!
Joe change that rear differential fluid,I bought a 250 SX years ago. Nice and clean just like yours and first ride blew the rear end up I was so bummed if I just at least checked it that would have never happened
You scored big time!! I just pulled my big red out of the barn for the first time in almost 6yrs. Started on the third kick. Crazy!!! Well made machines!!!
Remember when you fixed up that kids 450 the 10.grand one, for nothing…. just parts, well this is the Big Red karma bike 🍀👍🙏
Tilex tile mildew remover usually works well on the seat to remove the stains
Thank you!
I had 1 of these in high school and have hoped to find 1 in the shape this 1 is in I found 1 recently that was close to original condition and the guy wanted 8 grand for it I love your content keep up the good work man
I learned to ride on one of these an 86. Such a sweet machine and a workhorse too! We kept it at our cabin under a tarp for years. Every spring/summer, we just cleaned the nuts out of the airbox and she fires right up without fail every freaking year until the 2010's. We absolutely beat the crap out of this machine and hauled so many loads of logs and rocks all over the property. Rotate the headlight tabs out to unlock it on the sides, they pivot out and "unlock".
Mid 80’s that was the 3 wheeler to have, and that one looks like it did when new, great find!!, great video!
Nothing hurt more kids in the 80s. Love it
I use to drive a big red when I worked on a dairy farm, Great three wheeler. I like it when you can shift it without using a clutch because it doesn't have a manual clutch.
....nice finds, good score, keep safe..
Great deal on that perfect Big Red!! That's Artillery Fungus on the seat. I've had good luck wetting a towel like you found in the storage compartment with a high pH cleaner like Super Clean and laying it over the vinyl to dwell for about 10 minutes while keeping it wet with the cleaner before rubbing the seat down to remove what wasn't disolved. A thorough rinse after is a must and do not allow the cleaner to dry on the vinyl as it might etch the vinyl because as the water evaporates out of the cleaner it'll become more and more concentrated. Artillery Fungus is tough to remove. I've had to resort to using a 3M Scotch Brite scrub pad to very lightly rub the fungus away as to not scratch the seat material. Hope this helps.
I just got a 250sx trike pretty cool find. My buddy also just bought a mint big red I’ll make a video on soon
The Bid Reds are classic machines!! What a great find. Excellent work as always!! Cheers from MN.
I'd love to see a video on the sales side of things. Do you typically turn a profit? Have you had to get a dealer's license for the amount of buying/selling that you do? I buy, fix, and sell motorcycles regularly and have been warned at the DMV once or twice that I'd need to get a dealer's license if I sold too many. Curious how that works for you.
I had one of those Big Reds! Same model year and everything. Thing was an absolute tank. Great find!
Cool find ! Do you think it is possible to change a three-wheeler onto a four-wheeler?
They used to sell kits for that back in the day. I had a friend that turned his Tecate 3 into a Tecate 4 back in the 90’s. It wasn’t the best looking thing in the world though and I wouldn’t recommend it.
That big red is cherry. And worth at least 4x what you paid. Those are the original tires by the way
You should keep this machine. It's so clean and you will never find another
I've got the 200 ES and with all the work I've done to it. It's a keeper. I hope you value that as much. They're great fun and pretty good work horses.
Keep it! Honda 3 wheelers are the best, hands down. They're very reliable and dependable. You were extremely fortunate to find one in this shape! Running or not.
You’ve been killing it lately!
Is it worth getting a Honda atc 200 big red joe?
If the price is right it definitely is a good idea. And depending on if it's in decent shape. They're hard to find and will only go up in price.
I can’t believe how damn mint that thing is still and u have some awesome luck finding the paperwork and everything with it that’s nuts great find joe
OMG Joe you survived riding an”3 wheeled death machine” in your backyard! More dangerous than jumping the fountains at Caesars Palace!😉. Museum quality red!
I've been binge watching all of your Honda ATV videos. Keep it up! I have a 1984 Honda TRX200 (bout to sell to a friend) and a 2023 Honda Rancher.
I found a 1985 Honda big red 250 on craigslist probably just over 11 years ago and it was perfect every factory sticker and still had the nipples on the tire, I didn't have the money or room at the time but my buddy got it for $1850 and still has it only rode it a few times!
You make things look easy you definitely know what you are doing
I appreciate that! Thank you for watching!
These are going for $3,500 - $4,000 in much rougher condition in my area. Nice find.
I was about to comment the same thing for my area to 😢
That's the quickest 2k profit ever, 3k depending on what part of the country. Me And my family have owned 4 of them. Infact this is what I learned to ride on back in 1990 and to say they are reliable and tanks is an understatement. Also if you pop the headlight off the rubber grommets you have a 15' long worklamp and judging by the tread on those original tires yes it's extremely low hours and finally 87's are the hardest to come by because I believe the outlaw started and ceased production in in February or March of 87. Some countries were able to get new three wheelers till early 1988 before everything was officially done but not in the US. Any 87 is hard to find. I believe i still have a plow off my 86 that i kept when i sold it year's ago that i still kick myself for. Lol
That’s a beauty! Definitely gotta keep! I’m 49. I rolled a 110 when I was a kid, and broke my arm.
Bro you need to build a shop next to the house.
Working on it!
Absolutely keep it. I remember I wanted one so bad when I was young. I had a atc 125M.
There was a time i desperately wanted a big red.😮
The Hondas just always run great. I have a 84 200S and we have used it deer hunting every year since we got it. Always dependable.
That's a sweet machine! Baby wipes can sometimes get rid of stubborn seatcover stains. No idea how, they just seem to work most of the time.
1987 Honda ATC 250es BigRed the best ATC Honda ever produced! Has both side panels, all OEM Ohtsu tires, has the key, super clean tank! Three-wheeler world shows 1987 atc250es production numbers to be 4,889 units for U.S. market! Super nice find!
You did well the Big Red is worth more than what you payed for both & yes you should keep this one.
WOW! You found a like almost new last Year 250 BR. Don't let this one slip away. I''m currently putting a 87 BR together peice by peice, going through everything to make a good rider.
That's a keeper joe
Bring that to your storage unit asap lol
BRAVO, great find, quick flip? Are you surprised, given the age and non-use, that the gaskets are not worn? 🐶 What's up with Vinny not taking the run?
🤔Seems more and more things are keepers. 🤣@35:31 Lost your protective headgear (baseball cap).
great find!!! We have a 1985 Big Red same model, 250. Those are the original tires. Ours has many miles on it and still running!!! It's a great machine, fun to ride.
Great find. Good job getting it running. The ones I find usually take a lot more work. You’re a good mechanic. Im glad I found your channel.
You got yourself a $4,000 + barn find there! Pull out the tabs on the sides of the headlight to get it off.
I would try the vinegar 50-50 mix and cover it with some saran wrap to keep it moist for a while. And then Murphy’s Oil soap and a medium stiff brush should clean those mold stains off.
I've got a 85 i bought left over in 86 ,Runs like a clock, You have original tires which is great,I don't have to tell you that that Honda will run forever with some TLC.Great find..
I love this channel!!! Always has good finds!!😎💪🇺🇸
I remember riding weith my father on Big red when I was little. I've always loved the look of the Big Reds!
I would recommend the product rapid tac works wonders on stuff like that and for the white stuff on the fins of the cylinder I would recommended mad- acid which is a little pricey but one of my favorite chemicals for non painted metals “I am a detailer”
that is your best find yet i see so many of those for like 2 grand and their beat up cracked plastics and stuff
WOW!!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HONDA!!!!!!❤
This looks really fun brother lovely
So jealous 😊 I want a big red so bad. I cannot believe you scored that thing for $700 🤦🏻♂️
tire shine the seat once a day for like 2 weeks and it should come clean🤙🤙
great find I had one back in the 80' I was in Ca. they were trying to make these Illegal in Ca. so people sold them cheep that's how I got mine never got passed though just dealers could not sale them and soon they stop making them wish I still had mine.
Incredible find!! That big red is beautiful and only 700 bucks!! I'm absolutely blown away. Those suckers bring good money in way worse shape. Congrats man!!
Wow big red cleaned up nice I can't believe it's in that good of shape usually the plastic are all cracked and stuff awesome find you got there
Slightly diluted vinegar is one of my go to cleaners especially for mold. Sometimes you may need to let it soak a little while, then scrub.
Awesome find!..I own a 1985 250 Big Red,they are very reliable and tough .They was made for utility work on farms and things, but they are fun trail machines and will go just about anywhere!.I would hang on to that one for sure!
Those original tires are very hard to find now
That's a ultra rare find nowadays and worth a few bucks definitely a keeper!!!
Very nice score. Hard to find in that condition. Definitely a keeper.
I really hope you keep this one . I’ve been watching for long time and have been buying and selling bikes I have few I wish i kept
How does this happen.. literally been looking for this exact for EVER!!
