I've ridden a Rebel 500 in Canada for 4 years, I love the look. It's sexy, bratty, stealthy, raw, engine housing is badass, without the bike looking polarizing - like the vulcan or kawasaki eliminator, which doesn't really fit into any niche (trying to be sporty, classic, everything at once)... Since I plan to move back to India, the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 seems like better value at this point: 650cc, and a bit more torque, dual exhaust, and comes with better factory mods (like a belly pan, crash guards, additional lights, luggage rack with attachable / removable passenger seat etc). I love the rebel, and due to familiarity and design, I'd still buy it, but SG 650 is 1 Lakh cheaper, and you're getting more.
@@epictetus__ I don't think they are interested in launching this in India. Import duty is too much. Also there's Ground clearance issue for Indian roads

They always failed to analyse the Indian market, even Honda cars never understood the changing Indian market. When there was a wave of SUVs, they were selling sedans and hatchbacks. Now there's a wave cruiser motorcycle. They launched the Honda CB350.
The bike is over prized. When you get Royal Enfield meteor 650 Cc for 3.5 to 4 lakhs on road honda rebel 500 prize should be quoted somewhere around 2 to 2.3 lakhs on road with all modern features like Bluetooth connectivity, side stand automatic anti breaking lock system, slipper clutch and most importantly kick start which most of the bikes misses as it might help when battery is low on emergency conditions. So please install kick start also.
