Hey Everyone! ) I’m Anna and welcome to my channel. Here, I post some useful information for English learners. I’m from Ukraine and I’ve worked on my English and accent, for the most part, on my own, but you can find out and trace my story by watching my videos. I’ve been studying American pronunciation for a long time, and I still do, and I guess I always will - because it’s not math. Learning a language, it’s a lifetime journey. I know exactly what it takes to become fluent and acquire an accent in a non-English speaking country, and I’ve never even been to one. And I’m sharing this information here - on my channel.

To break bad means to turn toward immoral behavior or to step into the world of crime, to go against what is considered normal or ethical in society.
But listen to the executive producer of “Breaking Bad”. How he explains this phrase.
    entertainment....
Dick around. So this one isn’t nice and is vulgar. So you’ll be better off without using it. This is just so you know the meaning. In this example it means to cause a lot of problems for someone. Also, it means to waste your time doing something meaningless.
A Smartass is an individual who annoys and irritates people because they are either overly sarcastic or they think they are very clever and behave as if they know everything.
Short-handed usually of a company or organization that has a lack of necessary workers.
Ride along. A ride along I think is such a cool thing. It’s an arrangement for a civilian (ordinary citizen) to spend a shift with a police officer, firefighter or paramedic in the passenger seat and be able to observe their work day.
Drop off - is a phrasal verb which has several meanings just as all of the rest of them. In this case it means to take someone or something with you in your car in order to take them to a place and leave them there, when you’re on your way to another place.
Snitch - is an informer in the criminal sense. In a nutshell, it’s a criminal that provides information to the police or FBI about other criminals.
Peek our heads in - this phrase is modified so it sounds better and cooler. Basically it’s peek in, which means to take a quick glimpse into something in order to see something or someone or to check some place.
To picture something is the same as to imagine something. So you can say “I didn’t picture that” or “I didn’t imagine that”.
Turn in - in this case it means to tell the police about a person who committed a crime and their location.
Step off. When in a confrontation someone says to the other person to step off they’re asking them to back away and leave them alone.
DEA - this abbreviation is important for this TV series. It’s Drug Enforcement Administration. They fight with drug trafficking and distribution within the US.
Damned if I know. It’s the same as to say “I don’t know” or “I’m not aware”.
Basket case is used to describe someone who’s emotionally unstable, anti-social and weird.
Don’t shit where you eat. So this proverb basically means that it’s better not to jeopardize or foul up a situation or place in which you frequently find yourself, be it your home or work place.
Jib head is a crystal meth addict. Which is what this TV series is all about.
Lay eyes on means to see something or someone, especially for the first time.
Dimed on him means told the police about him. It comes from “to drop a dime on someone” which means to turn someone in.
Shut someone out means to intentionally exclude someone from an activity or not let someone inside a house or as in this case not willing to share your thoughts and feelings with someone.

Thank you so much Anna! This video is so good that I really enjoy it. And in my opinion, it would be better if you could show the video clip before you explain the key expressions, and then show the video clip again. I think it would be better, but it's just my own opinion. Thank you so much again!
